  1. My favorite characters from Azumanga Daioh are Sakaki & Yukari-sensei (such a good example of how a grown-up SHOULDN’T act  ). My favorite anime character overall is probably Rin Shima from Yuru Camp. https://animeforums.net/topic/14147-favorite-anime-character-deep-and-interesting-topic/?do=findComment&comment=112284 Yeah, I tried watching the 2nd season once, but only got about 3 episodes in before quitting.
  2. I've been reading the manga for this one and am definitely looking forward to watching the anime. This one seems to have had some very mixed reviews, but I think I'll add it to my watch list out of curiosity. This one looks like it might be interesting. It got some good reviews on MAL, but then again I don't always agree with the reviews on MAL.
  3. I've never really used a forum board like this before, but lately I've felt like I really need to talk to more people. I've just graduated high school and I'm kind of struggling to adapt to a new lifestyle, and while I do have friends that I still talk to from high school, I haven't really made a new friend since pre-covid. I'm kind of just an all around type when it comes to anime, I'll watch a long running shounen, a short but sweet slife of life, a detective anime, you name it. I guess that's pretty much it, I really hope I don't end up just stalking forums
  4. Ok, so, I've been kind of wondering this in my mind. That is: what kind of anime character do you prefer? The heroic, save as many people as you can type? Or the villainous, bring the world to its knees type? I realize it's an oversimplification, but if you prefer to go into detail and describe what kind of hero or villain you like in particular, I think people would like that. So then, which do you prefer? Hero or villain? For me, it more depends on my mood or emotional state of mind. If I've been hurt a lot and want to lash out, I like the villains. If I'm in a good mood or even decent mood, I prefer the heroes. So, I guess for me it's both, but not at the same time. Just dependent on my state of mind. How about y'all? What's your preference in anime? The hero or the villain? You can go into detail if you want, like I mentioned before. I just don't really have a lot of detail to go into since it depends on which emotional state I'm in at the time.
  5. Robot Masters - read "villains." I don't know how often this subject comes up in gaming circles but, I was always curious how other people perceived the antagonists in the original series ( 1-8 ). I enjoyed playing the games when I wasn't getting creamed, yet I saw something more in the series than just having fun on the bean bag. The enemy characters were often a pain to play against when you didn't have their weakness in your inventory but, I always really admired the conceptual design that went into some of the characters from an artistic point of view. I would always look at the stage boss and think, "I wanna play as this other dude, he's cool!" In comparison, Rock's armor was always very plain Jane - it looks like the costumes used for the film "Tron," only not as cool. Even after receiving the signature weapon of the defeated master, it was often nerfed and didn't even look as impressive to watch being used; Elecman's Thunder Beam was one exception to the general rule. Rock himself was basically a jack of all trades, master of none. ( Rock = Mega Man ) Back on topic though, I always saw a lot of untapped potential in the backstories behind the Robot Masters. I would actually argue that some of them should have gotten their own spinoffs with them as the main characters. I'm aware that attempts have been made toward this route in titles like the remake of the original, "Megaman: Powered Up." To be honest, I didn't like everything they did with that; they turned Iceman into a deranged mentalist, Fireman sounds way too bombastic, and they transposed Vega's personality in "Street Fighter" onto Elecman ( both games are Capcom titles I know ) . Also, what's with the whole 'chibi' art style? Do they have to make some cutesy bobblehead version of every franchise? I don't get that. Does anyone else get the feeling that Capcom was wrong not to use the enemy characters to create something resembling the DC Universe's Justice League instead? In any case, does anyone have any particular favorite robot masters from the classic game series? What are the charismatic qualities they have that make them appealing to you? I thought about making this a poll but, there's too many. It would be almost impossible for me to choose only one that I like more than all the others, I could more easily name the ones I didn't like. so I'll just name some of mine and describe my thoughts about them. No particular order. Shadow Man - Perhaps the most popular robot master. He always seemed very over with the fans of the series and I can see why. He's like Mega Man's answer to the Hitman - he's the excellence in execution, the greatest technical robot master; the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be -- okay, I was just being facetious with that analogy ( or at least half of it ). It would actually be great to see some fan art where he's got Rock in the sharp shooter. He's got the cool helmet which basically resembles the New England Patriots Logo with a 4-sided star on it. For the longest time, I didn't even know he was actually supposed to be patterned after ninjas as his motif. He was noted for being one of the more formidable masters of Megaman 3. They definitely should have given this character his own game. It would have sold, and likely quite well if done competently. Gemini Man - Easily one of the coolest and most unique characters in the entire franchise. His ability to attack with a clone duplicate of himself was really freaky ( and frustrating ). His silver armor is totally rad. This is another one I could imagine selling like hotcakes as the protagonist of his own game. His official info describes him as a narcissist so, maybe doesn't have the most likable personality. I still think they could market him as the cool anti-hero pretty effectively though. Quick Man - Yeah, I know that it's obvious that this character drew heavy inspiration from the Flash but, there are certain aspects to his design that also set him apart. Another character with one of the coolest helmets I've ever seen. His actual projectile weapon in the game left a lot to be desired visually, but he did move around quite well. Despite having a weak name, and an even cheesier stage theme, there is something special about him that gives him that babyface quality that the fans would root for. Although the canonicity of "Super Adventure Rockman" is questionable, there was an actual cutscene where for one brief moment Quickman actually turned babyface and took a shadow blade, sacrificing himself to save Rock's life. This shows that the writers were actually thinking about it. Skull Man - For a character in a game aimed at kids, this guy's motif was rather edgy. Then again, if anyone has watched the original Japanese versions of "Power Rangers" ( Super Sentai ), they would appreciate that the tone is usually darker ( which I actually prefer ). I never did read any of the manga based on the "Rockman" Universe, but apparently this robot master was given a sympathetic redemption ending as a tragic anti-hero. I always thought it odd how covers of his stage theme are generally done in an 80s synth rock style...I guess Skullman must be a real maniac on the dance floor. lol Seriously, I don't understand why they didn't experiment more with the idea of giving this guy his own series too. Fire Man - Arguably one of the most original character designs in the first game - often imitated, never duplicated. He's got the head with the always burning torch, and a pretty flashy attack animation for the time. This would be another winner here. Elec Man - My favorite robot master from the first game, though Fire Man follows a close second. His design is maybe not the most original but, still pretty neat. His weapon is so destructive that it forces the player to respect him. I hated how weak they made him in the Ruby-Spears cartoon from the 90s. I honestly don't care if his theme sounds like it was ripped off from other songs, it was still the best one in the game. Although he's said to have taken up playing the electric guitar in his official info, you never see any art of him playing the analogue synth on a keyboard like Mortal Kombat's Rayden is sometimes depicted doing in fan art - it's actually disappointing. Star Man - I know that tactically he's really just a filler character to cover all of the eight villain slots in MM5 but, he's still kinda cool. Wish his weapon was something never seen before up to that point though. Gravity Man - As cool as this character already is, there was so much more they could have done with him, albeit not without making him practically unbeatable. The name says it all, need I say more about him? Crash Man - The guy with the "G-Force" style helmet and drills for hands. Little bit of trivia, the name "Drill Man" was actually suggested for him before settling on the name Crash Man. The name "Drill Man" would later be used for a future robot master in "Mega Man 4." I'm not sure if he would be material for his own game without having more tricks or abilities. Still a very deadly opponent if you didn't have his weakness equipped. Flash Man - Despite his attributes, he was the easiest robot master to beat in MM2. Even so, I love the concept of a weapon that freezes time. I also love his stage theme. Snake Man - This is one of those characters that looks cool but doesn't do anything really flashy. A big let down in regards to abilities. Well composed theme song though. Spark Man - One of the less human looking droids, his design was original. He had some rather visually impressive attacks for the graphical capability on an 8-Bit system in the day. Magnet Man - Cool motif, though it would seem that the character would lack versatility in any situations that didn't involve metal or electronics in-game. How would one make a solo act out of such a specialized character? Freeze Man - Entering the 16-Bit Era, he was the one robot master that really stood out to me in the cast of MM7. He looked much more menacing than his predecessor Ice Man did. He was also one of the most difficult opponents in the game.
  6. Now finished rewatching Golden Time which is a really good Slice of Life romance series, but with an interesting twist in that the main male character has amnesia as a result of an accident and doesn't remember anything of his life before he was 18. The story really has two focus points one being getting on with his new life and new friends the other being the problems he faces when it seems like his old life is coming back. One of the interesting questions the story asks is does memory equal identity. Overall I enjoyed watching the series. It has good quality artwork and animation, an excellent cast of characters and an interesting storyline.
  7. Here it is my MAL profile: https://myanimelist.net/profile/ryxtze
  8. So it wasn't until I saw clips of the current season that made me step back and realize just how different Hawks as a character is now. Any sort of charm or charisma he had is completely gone. Granted you can claim that it's because the heroes just took a massive L and I can understand that, but even with the recent manga chapters, he seems more of a former shell of who he used to be and has been relegated to being Endeavor's cheerleader rather than a "light of hope" as Horikoshi claimed before. He's now just this generic good hero character now, not that it's inherently bad for him to be like that, but the thing is, doing this completely removes any sort of potential of seeing moments of him wrestle with himself regarding issues like Twice's death and how he couldn't save him. We don't really get to see much more of what he's thinking or how he's feeling after the war because the story then shifts back to Deku and his classmates by the end of the season. The season spends a good portion of having the story centered around Deku working with the pros, and you're telling me there couldn't have been a moment of him reflecting on his fight with Twice or the commission? While I don't believe Hawks was in the wrong in that situation, especially after watching the anime, and regardless of how you might feel about his actions, it still doesn't take away from the fact that Twice's death was sort of overlooked. It's SHOULD'VE affected whether he's actually killed before or not. He mentioned it maybe once, showing slight remorse, but we don't see him ponder on it for long, and eventually his whole story, and reaction to his idol also being an abuser like his father was is just skipped over. He asks Endeavor if he's responsible for Shoto's scar and finds out it was actually Shoto's mother, and the guy just thinks about how HE'S in the wrong for apparently "abandoning his troubled parents. That's another point I'd like to bring up. Why is Horikoshi writing Hawks to feel any sort of guilt over leaving his abusive household? In what way does that make Hawks a selfish or weak person? So basically, Hawks' has been stripped of everything that made him cool and interesting, being to be a cheerleader for Endeavor, and is for some reason having to deal with the 'guilt' of leaving his abusive parents behind. Like, I'm sorry but wtf happened to Hawks? Going back to my first point regarding his shift in character, I know many fans will say shit like "That wasn't the real him" or "He's a changed person" but I call BS. All these posts made by Hawks stans talking about how he's no longer 'Hawks', but 'Keigo' instead is kind of lost on me. The hope he feels after the war that apparently shows the "real" him has always been there. This isn't anything new. The real him IS the laid-back smart-ass who wants more time to himself, it's his goal after all. I highly doubt he lied about his ultimate goal since he even shared his deepest desire with his idol, telling Endeavor he wants to live in a world where heroes have "too much time on there hands." I know the anime gives these "visual hints" I guess, like giving his eyes that light glint to it now rather than his usual half-lidded eyes with no glint, but I find a bit unnecessary if you in turn want to add emphasis to his eyes during scenes that benefit off that little detail like for example the recent episode where he he's taken aback by Uraraka's speech and the reactions of the angry mob. Some people wanna state that he's an optimist and his laid-back personality is just an act, but was he ever an optimist lol? Sure as hell wasn't introduced as one. Like he always hoped to be free, but there was always some cynicism deep down. They could have done a great story to have him come around to *why* he's developed into an optimist, but he basically came out of the darkest moment of his life just expecting the best out of people. I personally never really read him as “big optimist”. Like, wasn’t he very specifically atypical in his initial characterisation? He talked shit at the top 10 presentation, his goal was to not have to do anything. The one time he was outspoken about his “beliefs”, Endeavour thought it was out of character and something he normally wouldn’t do, which was true. That doesn’t really come across as “virtuous and altruistic Hawks, peak optimist” to me. This is more of a petty complaint I'd like to mention is how annoying it is to see his simps infantilize him in the recent episodes (makes it worse since, Idk if it's intentional or not, but he does look younger now which is a fat no for me, dog) but then again, this issue can be seen with A LOT of characters in the series, it's just become more noticeable for Hawks because of how badly he's been nerfed. Another petty complaint I'd like to add uhhhh his new look?....I don't like it. Typically, especially in shounen/action series when a character suffers battle scars it tends to make them look grittier and cooler. But Hawks, like I mentioned in my previous point just looks...younger? I don't get where all these people are coming from saying the guy looks "waaay better than he did before" when that's a whole ass lie. There's a reason why his character design was my favorite in the series, but he just looks so tacky and nerfed it's hard to even look at him now. I'm willing to go as far to say the manga made him look better, the anime makes him look like a chump. Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say with all this piss is that I'd prefer to see Hawks as more than the one note character he's turned into in the anime and has been for quite some time in the manga. An interesting character stipped down to something generic, what a waste.
  9. Ok, so, I kind of got this idea to get more of a handle on what examples of different types I'd possibly know in order to better understand the differences. I'm thinking that Major Motoko Kusanagi is a Kuudere type, but I need help with this. It seems to be the case, but I haven't found any other type close to what would describe her personality. What is your favorite type of waifu/husbando? Why do you feel that way? My favorite type is Kuudere. They're steadfast and still care about a select few people while appearing to be cold and uncaring, which makes them interesting to me. How about you? What's your favorite type, and why?
  10. I removed the center flowers in that allay habitat / melon farm and turned it into a small pond. Then below that I dug out a large chamber and added an 8x8x8 tropical fish aquarium and viewing gallery. I read somewhere that there's over 2000 combinations of fish shape, type, and pattern for tropical fish & I wanted to have someplace large enough to collect them all. jk And now that there's water I'm going to try adding a few tadpoles. Do fish eat tadpoles? Guess I'll find out. I also cleared out an underwater geode. If you get rid of all of the amethyst blocks that don't have cracks in them and all the calcite and basalt then you can maximize the growth of the buds and clusters on the remaining cracked amethyst. The amethyst crystals will grow underwater and the water makes it easier to collect them so I like to do this when I find one underwater. (Unfortunately you can't transport the cracked blocks so you have to do this wherever the geode happens to be. Trying to mine the cracked blocks even with silk touch destroys them completely.) This geode is really deep too. Just at the level where deepslate starts to form. That's deep enough that glow squid (and Drowned) also spawn in the water nearby. That usually gives me a couple glow ink sacs as a bonus every time I make the trip to harvest the amethyst.
  11. In Golden Time the MC has a fairly serious type of mental breakdown.
  12. I see that Crunchyroll have put up their first listing of new series for 2024. Not a lot there to interest me, but I'm pleased to see Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki - Series 2 in the list. I'll also give A Sign of Affection a look as the storyline looks interesting. Both are currently airing, so I'll follow my usual practice and wait until they finish airing so I can mini-binge them without having to wait a week or so between episodes.
  13. The character I want to cosplay is Maya from Killer Instinct. Not the reboot version of Killer Instinct for Xbox One, but the classic Killer Instinct 2/Killer Instinct Gold era version of Maya as you see here in the photo. I'm doing this for my boyfriend, who told me that Maya is his favorite character and he'd love it if I dress up as his favorite version of Maya. Now all I need is some outfit ideas, as far as wigs and costume pieces that match his vision of the character. If you have any outfit cosplay suggestions fitting for the character, I would gladly appreciate it.
  14. Was honestly considering not to bother since most folks here don’t seem interested in watching series while they’re airing. Anyway, here’s what’s scheduled for the season https://www.livechart.me/fall-2023/tv As to what I plan to watch, lots of sequels (Dr. Stone, Spy x Family, , Goblin Slayer, Dead Mount Death Play, Ancient Magus Bride, Shield Hero, Eminence in Shadow, Faraway Paladin, Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, Girlfriend Girlfriend) . JJK’s Shibuya Arc, Helck & Ruroni Kenshin will all carryover. Plus we finally get Attack on Titan grand finale in November. The Spy x Family movie and Reincarnated as a Slime OVA probably won’t be available in the states until next year. As far as new stuff, I usually need to watch a couple eps before I decide if I’m interested. Pluto has an edge based on Naoki Urusawa’s reputation & Frieren seems to be getting a lot of hype over on MAL. Also kinda curious about Shy. And maybe try to find time for live action One Piece, new Castlevania & Scott Pilgrim on Netflix
  15. For those with MAL accounts, they’ve added some statistics tabs that give insight into how you score series & your genre preferences. Kinda interesting.
  16. Currently, sonewhere in the 50 - 100 range. I tend to watch seasonals primarily, 15 - 25 per season, but some are single cour, others are double or split. In addition, I’ll also generally watch around a dozen anime movies or older series combined in a year. As far as types, my MAL stats indicate Action, Fantasy & Comedy are my top tags. Personal observation is that I tend to like series with a supernatural angle to them.
  17. Just curious, who’s the character you’re using as an avatar/profile picture?

    1. kamomesan

      kamomesan

Aha, that would be Pandemonica from the game Helltaker

    2. Ohayotaku

      Ohayotaku

glasses girl + demon girl + office girl = 😍

  18. That be awesome, I'm always looking for other people to work on sigs and stuff with but the forums I used to go to for that don't exist anymore. And I like just talking about graphics with people too. I started getting back on DeviantArt to get resources and stuff to make them with again. Completely feel exactly what you're talking about there. I had that happen to me and everyone I thought was my friend suddenly sided with someone who was a psycho and was stalking me IRL but that's another entire story lol. I don't mind repeated questions either, my brothers x-wife and his child are both autistic as well as an x-bf of mine so I'm pretty used to being around people who are. And I always love new friends, which is partly why I came back to this forum because I remembered everyone being so nice and I was hoping to talk to some nice people again. When we lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere we had all sorts of things too like that, bears, mountain lions, bobcats, etc but they never really seemed to bother any humans or come up by our house ever, thank God. Even though I would probably take dealing with bears over humans any day because I keep pretty much to myself a lot too. I've never bet any cards either.. wait no, that's a lie XD when I was a kid and we first started getting cards and had no idea how to actually play the game, my friend and I played our other friend and I just pulled out 3 blue eyes and was like I INSTANTLY WIN GIVE ME YOUR CARD YOU BET! And then later his mom came and told my mom I stole all her kids cards and I had to give them back and there was this whole thing where I wasn't allowed to go near her son for like 3 months and she kept calling me a thief lolll o_o In duel links I have so many cards it's kind of ridiculous though, I had a dragon type deck I used a whole bunch, that seems to always be my go-to is dragon cards. I have another sorcerer themed one. I seem to use this Silent Magician card a lot throughout my decks on duel links. I'm definitely not very good at putting them together I don't think but they never lose when I do the dueling stuff so maybe it's not as bad as I think. I just really like the name Sofi so I usually go by it on forums or games and stuff but I don't hide my real name either but I guess just the people I have added to Discord probably know my real name anymore. (Sorry this message is so long I tend to type a lot x.x).

  20. Definitely Mia Luna Tearmoon from Tearmoon Empire! I want to look like a princess and she's such a fun character!
  21. Watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood again. I feel like this is one of those movies that requires more than one viewing. I always seem to see something new that I missed from the last time I watched it. There's a line that Leo DiCaprio's character Rick Dalton says at the end of the film about the hippies not being alright that always cracks me up: The entire ending scene is just gruesome and bloody and yet still downright hilarious. Easily one of my favorite Tarantino films.
  22. Hello, I have been looking for this song https://clyp.it/1fonw40d which I had first heard from a meme. I've been told it's from something Idolm@ster. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you
  23. Anyone know the name of this anime character? Link to image below. https://imgur.com/a/c1KEIxn
  24. I watch anime from 1990s and early 2000s . I've tried looking for gems that I've never seen. I hate the new stuff. I hate the art style and all its color pallets, and high school teens as protagonist. We need to bring back sex , violence and crude scenarios and language. I really see anime has gone down the route of pg 13 friendly content. Look at a movie like wicked city , fist of the north star, Akira. These were appealing to all fans and outside fans of anime. Even 3x3 eyes, had gore but a lovely story, and it was a relatable protag who had a job. I just now hate how watered down story is for just teens and characters all have the same personality, and the male leads are all shy and nerdy. I get that teens like this need representation, and kids who get bullied in school need to relate to these character types, but it's saturated at this point. I want more badass male and female characters back, who can fight, don't have submissive personality traits. I also notice Korean drama has leaked its way into Japanese stories, the shy girl and the handsome japanese man who is so cool and she needs to fight for his attention. Japan doesn't create new stories anymore that is groundbreaking, it's like they just churn out ideas that would make a good netflix series adaptation, in other words, pop characters that look like they can be in a korean pop band. Add some interesting horror/hero element and vola: a hit money maker.
  25. I have been watching Anyamaru Tantei Kiruminzuu lately. I don’t watch the slice of life genre much but this one has been somewhat enjoyable. It follows kids who are animal detectives but interestingly enough, this show plays out everything episode by episode. Meaning the pacing is incredibly slow and while other series would start with the detective club already formed and reveal the rest in flashbacks, everything is shown from the beginning here so far back that the focus of the show is not in view for a while. That being said, the writing is very good for the characters. I would have thought the kids would get annoying being the main characters but it does work. The kids can transform into animals with an odd device which is the unique hook of the show. There is some type of progression system in play to this while at the same time, the antagonists can naturally transform. I am still watching so I am not sure how the show ends up, but I am a little over a third through it and still having a good time. Nagisa steals the show and while some of the future plot twists I see are incredibly obvious, most are completely hidden. I have been very impressed with this one!
