I just use Crunchyroll and Hulu.

Same as this though I sometimes watch on Netflix as well. It just depends which one of those 3 have what I want to watch. I can usually always find it between the 3.

Originally I watched everything on Animefreak.tv but it has become really cluttered, so I moved to gogoanime because I really liked their format how they had the new episodes in the order they aired and how there was the ability to look at just the anime that aired in a certain time period like spring or 2010 or fall of 2021 etc...  Now I usually just use crunchyroll/Hulu/Netflix and then periodically check animefreak to see if anything different is on there.

I found a website called gogoanime and watched my favorite animes on there recently.  Though I might not use it again found out it illegal possibly.   Its really hard to tell everyone has different opinions about it. I have streaming services and sometimes watch anime on there but not much lately. I would do Crunchyroll however not sure if ill get it or not still hearing issues from it. Back in 2006 I found it interesting then shady stuff happened..  Maybe its changed or maybe not my advice please be careful.

Gogoanime sounds very much like an illegal pirate site streaming unlicensed content and most likely is violating copyrights.

If I remember correctly, back in 2006 Cruncyroll was a fansub distro site offering downloads of anime series, basically a pirate site offering illegal copies for download.

Since then Cruncyroll has become a legitimate anime streaming company only offering officially licenced content, I've had a subscription to their service for nearly two years now and not had any problems.

Funny thing is a lot of CR’s criticism is that they USED to be a pirate site, but “sold out” & went legit. And now they’re actually owned by Sony. Definitely legal since they pay licensing fees & in many cases now even produce or co-produce anime, though they can certainly be criticized for  corporate decisions & their (mis)handling of certain titles. Nonetheless, they are the one streaming service I have subscribed to continuously these past 8 years & I certainly feel I get my money’s worth

And I think a lot of that criticism came from the freeloaders who were annoyed that their source of free anime had been cut off.  I've only been a subscriber for just under 2 years and find it excellent value, here in the UK I pay £5.99 a month, which is about the cost of a decent Sunday lunch in my local pub/restaurant or a monthly magazine.

Worry not, I didn't think you were trying to start a fight or debate, I thought you were just giving your opinion and view point which is one of the things this forum is here for. One of the nice things about AF is that we accept other people's views and opinions even if we don't always agree with them. In the nearly 3 years I've been here I've never seen anyone get flamed for their comments and I've never received any nasty replies.  Which is more than I can say for other social media sites I've used.

CR have a whole page on their website about how to cancel your CR membership and it looks painless and straightforward.  How to cancel a membership was one of the things I checked out very carefully before I subscribed as I'd heard horror stories about people who subscribed to things and found the company wouldn't let them cancel.

With CR you get a month's free trial, so if you find it's not for you, you can cancel after 1 month and owe them nothing.

Ok I see thank you for explaining it, I appreciate it.

As for horror stories for CR. That actually happned to me my mother had to be involved arguing over  the phone with costermer service trying to explain why I need to stop since they raised price and im not a rich person.  Some guy who was trying to gaslight us saying CR is great you don't want to cancel.  Then next minute this took over 2 hours to deal with  hes like fine but your not getting your money back.

So my mom didn't care  just wanted it over with and then finally had it canceled.  This was 2010 if I remember right. No joke this really happened.  After that a lot of people were doing the same as me trying cancel they wouldn't let them.  So my feelings in the matter is mixed. Yes they changed over time they say but  idk not fully about it.

Ah, yes I understand your hesitation to resubscribe to CR, if that had happened to me I be wary as well.  From the information on their website it looks like you can cancel online without any need to deal with someone in customer services.

I have Crunchyroll, HiDive and Netflix. I did watch some on Amazon Prime Video but I sometimes forget that I even have it and mostly stick to watching on Crunchyroll. I would say CR is my main go to for when I watch anime because they tend to have mostly anything I want to watch and a good selection that I would have also never known about otherwise.

This is correct, there have been two different time periods in the last 10+ years that I needed to temporarily cancel Crunchyroll and it's very easy to go into your account now and cancel. Shouldn't be a headache.

And some of you have really taken me back with Gogoanime, I used to use that site all of the time when I was younger, but it is for sure an illegal operation and is full of malware (last I used it) so I'd want to only use a mobile platform to access it. I ran back to Crunchyroll as soon as I felt like I could afford it again.

On the rare occasion Netflix will stream an anime I want to watch but I mainly use Hulu and Crunchyroll.

Hey guys u hav'nt talked about sites like 9anime or aniwave so is there any restriction about talking these type of sites here

I don't think there is a restriction of mentioning it but to my knowledge I think those are pirating websites that technically have illegal streaming activity on them so perhaps no one wants to mention they use it, or just don't use it when there are legal alternatives like CrunchyRoll, Netflix, Hulu, etc,... I think it also got shut down if I remember correctly? It may possibly be back up now but I don't know for certain since I haven't used it.

The only mention in the AF rules regarding sites like this is:

  • No links to unlicensed downloads and streaming sites.

So as long as you aren't linking them, I think discussing them is okay but correct me someone if I'm wrong in thinking that.

I haven't actually used any non-legal streaming sites since there are so many legit ones anymore that I don't bother but I'm not about to lie and say I never have xD Especially in the earlier days of the internet when I was a kid/teen.

I recently tried out a membership on CR I found out they dont have all the anime on there from the old school days only a few. As well they  won't update a lot. Yes I can be wrong but I thought since its number 1 anime streaming service they have everything.  When I tried a pirated anime website ( at the time I didn't know it was bad then left )  they had all old and new ones out. Idk maybe I'll see later on down the line getting CR or just do it way.... old school and get DVD and Bluerays. The OGs !

CRs catalogue is a bit odd in some ways, I'm often surprised by what they have and what they don't and it's not just old series they're missing there's some new stuff they don't have. I guess it comes down to what series they can licence.
