  1. Demon Slayer is on Hulu. So is Gun x Sword which has some similarities to Trigun. Cannonbusters on Netfix has some similarities to Trigun & has an irreverence similar to One Punch Man, but also has some profanity & crude humor. For something similar to One Punch Man, there’s Mob Psycho 100, but unfortunately it’s only on Crunchyroll & Funimation. Tiger & Bunny is on both Netflix & Hulu and I believe is similar to One Punch Man though I haven’t seen it.
  2. Welcome. I watch anime and ramble on about it ... good thing there are more creative and interesting members here.
  3. Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy it here
  4. We’ve been having the hottest temperatures of the year this week, but supposed to cool off for the weekend. Don’t think it’s rained in at least a month, which is causing all the leaves to come down.
  5. Rewatched episode 0 today before moving on to episode 1. You definitely need to watch Fate Zero first to really get into this series & personally thought episode 1 was a better starting point because it explains how it got to that point instead of just throwing you into things. Oh, and Gray is a sweetheart
  6. The comparison for me is that both seemed to deal with the old school method of doing something versus the modern, technology enhanced method. Agree that SU’s music is largely over rated. I have it on hold for now, but what I’ve seen makes it an entertaining and positive series.
  7. With some new series beginning later this week, decided to make a catch-all topic people can use until it becomes clear which ones have enough interest to warrant their own topics for discussion. For me:
  8. Finished Fate Zero over the weekend. Truly epic, but a bit too soul crushing for me at times. Hope the follow up series offers at least some redemption for the characters. Plan to binge Lord El Melio this week as we transition between seasons. Probably won’t get around to starting Stay Night and Unlimited Blade Works until at least November.
  9. Fate Zero Truly an epic story, beautifully animated with many likable characters. Which unfortunately makes the amount of bloodshed and tragedy almost unbearable at times. While the ending does offer some faint glimmers hope to potentially be realized in future series, I was still left with a heavy feeling. 8/10 (may change upward once I watch the follow up series)
  10. No Guns Life, maybe? (it’s also getting an anime adaption)
  11. I was actually surprised that they decided to do the next arc as a movie instead of a second season (though much of episode 19 was movie quality to begin with). I fully expect it to get a US release because I was actually doubtful Konosuba would be popular enough make it locally for me (further than the others I’d seen, but still less than an hour drive. Plus airing on Toonami ought to help the chances.
  12. If you go to Anime News Network and do a search for “stage play”, you’ll see this is actually a trend in Japan
  13. So, the past year or so I’ve noticed more anime movies (not just Ghibli) getting showings at nearby theaters. Granted, many were just a single showing on a weekday night, but was wondering if other members here had taken advantage and what they thought of the experience. For me, I saw the My Hero Academia movie & Promare and am planning to see the Konosuba movie in November. Sadly, I don’t really have any IRL friends who are into anime, but it’s still fun reacting along with everyone else to what’s happening on screen. And while the theaters hadn’t been packed it’s still drawn a decent audience, again given the strange show times.
  14. Woke up to the low 50s, currently sitting at 90.
  15. Welcome to the forums As far as recommendations out of 2019 series, Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) is probably the hottest thing right now. The Promised Neverland & Rising of the Shield Hero are notable as well. Since you like Berserk, maybe Vinland Saga & Dororo. For slice of life My Roommate is s Cat is funny, but also has some feels. While Wasteful Days of High School Girls is just silliness. For romance/tearjerker maybe try the Fruits Basket remake. Hope you stick around. btw, 25 ain’t old (especially around here ) And I just finished the 1st half of Fate Zero and am enjoying it alot. Especially the pairs of Saber/Irisveil & Rider/Waver. On that note, the Lord El Melio series that’s just winding up centers on an adult Waver Velvet.
  16. Welcome to the forums Just join in the conversation on any topics that catch your interest, people are friendly here. Sharing some of the anime or manga you enjoy may be a good place to start.
  17. Welcome to the forums Battle Angel Alita was the first manga I really got into as well, though I did burn out during Last Order. More recently I tried getting into Mars Chronicle, but not really feeling it. Still hoping it will get s more complete anime adaption someday (it happened for Boogiepop, Fruits Basket & soon Blade of Immortal). Anyway, hope you enjoy it here.
  18. One thing I find interesting about isekai series is if you look at early examples, a number of them actually had shoujo characteristics (Magic Knight Rayearth, Vision of Escaflowne, Fushigi Yuugi) as opposed to the current trend focusing on harems and OP MCs . Of course another trend in isekai is parodies or at the very least series that don’t take themselves all that seriously, for example Konosuba, Demon Lord Retry & Isekai Quartet.
  19. Congrats on an almost perfect score 😎

    1. Shiroe

      Shiroe

When I saw which one I got wrong, I audibly said "of course..."

I feel like I'd been had! Fun quiz, though.

  20. My Konosuba quiz is now ready for challengers. Oh, and I already bought my ticket for the movie in November. 😁

  21. Literature & writing were my best subjects in high school & college, but I never had the confidence that I could make a living at it. And in my “old age”, I tend to ramble on (as I’m sure you’ve noticed )

  24. The 2nd OVA is supposed to be available on CR sometime tomorrow. And this one is supposed to pick up where season 2 left off instead of being a recap https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/09/23-1/mob-psycho-100-ii-ova-hits-up-the-hot-spring-on-crunchyroll-this-week
