  1. I'll probably finish Shiki, then start Death Note, finally watch Perfect Blue, & might even check out Blue Exorcist & possibly Fruits Basket. Gotta say that being quarantined for an extended period would be a great time to binge any longer series like Bleach or One Piece too.
  2. That's a theme I've noticed in anime. Especially with single female characters in the mid to late 20s. And with La Brava, it's not her height that makes her seem like an adolescent, it's her mindset & behavior. Just very immature.
  3. Spiders don't really bother me all that much. I think they're lovely, I would just prefer them to stay outside. As for the locust swarms(some areas also have flying ant swarms as well), my heart goes out to everyone being affected by food shortages due to all the crops that have been completely destroyed. The thing is a lot of those people live in rural communities that pretty much solely rely on those local food sources so this puts them in a terrible bind as their governments try to put plans into place to help them. Another thing to consider too is that swarms like that can be even more disastrous in regards to the spread of diseases since they're moving from area to area at such a rapid pace.
  4. Very curious how international travel will change in the coming months after the initial impact of Covid-19. People are assuming that flights & vacations will be super cheap because companies will be trying to make money back but that may not necessarily be the case if a global recession happens. Even if it doesn't, it's very difficult for service based industries to recoup big losses even with government assistance so some prices may actually go up. Who knows?

  5. Not sure if anyone here has heard about this or perhaps lives in an area where this is happening but about those locust swarms in Africa & the Middle East.... YIKES is about all that comes to mind. Being stuck in a massive swarm of bugs would be nightmare fuel for a lifetime for me only it's not locusts that take the top scare prize from me. Nope. Those would be cockroaches, the filth ridden little demons. UGH! What about everyone else? What type of insect/bug swarm would be the WORST in your opinion? P.S. If anyone here is stuck in one of those areas, my heart goes out to you!
  6. @Illusion of Terra hehe, yeah I tend to really get into character analysis if it's a show I greatly enjoy. Another reason I focused so much on them is because of Eri's attendance at the school event. We all know that she's got major stuff going on so for two new characters like that to be introduced at this time, it just makes me feel like somehow they would get involved with her or cause something bad to happen that involve her in some way. And @Ohiotaku exactly, see Gentle Criminal is the one who keeps talking about how much he's aging & stuff & that just makes it creepy. If Colonel Sanders had a disgruntled, estranged brother I bet he'd look & act just like Gentle Criminal!
  7. Oh the extra background is great, don't get me wrong. It's the fact that she's not only way younger than him(the way the episode shows it is as if she's still just a teenager running around with this guy. Now, given cultural differences & all that, this could be completely acceptable & no big deal where they are but for me just eh...) but obsessive relationships like that are just so unnerving because they're not built on anything positive. I mean, when she first learned about him she was in a deep depression & just grasped onto the 1st thing that looked good & became instantly obsessed & devoted herself to him. Also, the episode alludes to the idea that she stalks after her love interests, yikes! Add to that the fact that Gentle Criminal choose a life of crime because of his need for validation rather than finding some other way to get noticed & make his mark. Talk about toxic all the way around. Their bond is built & fortified by desperation.
  8. Just watched the latest episode & geez, the relationship between Gentle Criminal & La Brava...I just don't know what to say. It's a deep bond but I'm more than a little disturbed by it.
  9. Currently reading Bag of Bones by Stephen King
  10. My favorite food would have to be pizza, favorite drink is tea, and favorite snacks are International pastries or snacks. Now, for the elaboration! Pizza-either pepperoni or pepperoni & black olive(both homemade & with extra sauce of course) Tea-hot tea with honey is preferable but the kind of tea really doesn't matter. Oh, I don't drink caffeine anymore so it would have to be decaf. International pastries or snacks-things like Armenian Gata bread(it's this delicious sweet bread filled with almond paste or something...YUM!), mochi, spreads or jams for English muffins or toast, Milka bars, etc.
  11. So it's getting late & here I am sitting in the dark watching Shiki yet again. I must love to torture myself.

you re some kind of masochist, aren't you? 😂

  12. I'd rather be a bird that can't fly because at least then I might still be able to run fast, hunt prey with talons, or sing beautifully. Would you rather explore space or the ocean?
  13. I'd rather know when I'd die. Would you rather be able to speak to animals or speak all languages?
  14. Tough choice but right off the top of my head I'm going to go with Black Clover because I'd love to have my own grimoire! If you had one wish that would impact today's world as a whole, what would it be?
  15. So wait, you're telling me we have to wait until 2021 for the 2nd season!?! WTF!?!
  16. *sips my tropical fruit smoothie innocently while keeping my lips sealed about how I'm watching Shiki since I don't have Hulu*
  17. I'm just gonna put it out there that people with vivid imaginations probably shouldn't watch this show at night. And if you don't *already* have an anxiety condition...welp.... Also, it will take a few episodes to really get going but once it does, yikes!
  18. Alright, well I managed to get *some* sleep last night after checking my bedroom thoroughly to make sure there were no demonic entities or vampiric intruders. Geez, I never would have thought that an anime about vampires would freak me out so much but the animation in Shiki is just so damn unnerving!

As I mentioned before it reminds me a lot of the old Salem’s Lot miniseries (1979) I watched as a kid which gave me nightmares. I don’t usually “horror” anime scary, but Shiki is an exceptiion.

YES! Salem's Lot is exactly what it reminds me of! I read the book & there were parts that really scared the hell out of me!

  19. It's super cold & rainy here & going to be like that all weekend.
  20. My nickname would be Little Phoenix: リトル フォエニックス (ritoru foenikkusu)
  21. On the 5th episode of Shiki & I'm so freaked out that I'm almost shaking & I think I heard something outside my window! This is going to be a long night LOL!

It’s been a couple years since I watched & I still don’t dare to look under the bed at night 😂

OMG, I know!!! I literally tip toed into my bedroom because I was so sure that something was going to be in there. It doesn't help that we're having severe thunderstorms in my area so there was all this thunder going on.

  22. Welcome in. This is a pretty diverse group from what I can tell so far so I'm sure you'll find friends that share your tastes. Hope you enjoy your time here.
  23. An egg white omelette, a few slices of turkey bacon, a small bowl of pineapple chunks with a little cinnamon dashed in, an apple, & a big glass of milk. Full breakfasts only around here! Tomorrow I think I'll have some fresh fruit & English muffins topped with this delicious Indonesian coconut egg spread that I found at my local International market, & some hot jasmine green tea w/honey
