I'll watch almost any genre except yaoi, shonen ai, shonen, most giant mecha and samurai themed anime. The 90s was when I first started watching “real” anime though my interest was sparked in the 80s by Americanized versions like Star Blazers, Galaxy Express & Robotech. Edit: thought your pfp looked familiar, zooming in I see it’s Ranka Lee from Macross F(rontier). Koukaku Kidoutai, Aa! Megami-sama!, Mononoke Hime, Mimi wo Sumaseba (a favorite of mine that is safe for normies as well)... Also stuff like Armitage, but I guess they can't all be great. The Dirty Pair got me into anime so very long ago but as I've watched so many different series over the years they got lost in the rear view mirror-so to speak. Series I've seen in the past few years that I really like include Violet Evergarden, Princess Principal, Girls Und Panzer, any thing Fate related, Nanoha-especially the last 2 movies-Reflection and Detonation.
