  1. This sounds very much like Gall Force. I think if you track it down, you will have your movie
  2. If you like Magical Girl anime, then try Blue Reflection. It's really a magical girl anime in a game (try to limit expectations. It looks like it had a limited budget...not bad, actually enjoyable if you aren't expecting a masterpiece. Reminds me a little of Persona, but just a bit.). Persona 5 is good...I like the Atelier series as well. If you were ever a Harvest Moon fan, then try out Stardew Valley. The Tales games are good too (Tales of Berseria or Zestria). Elder Scrolls. ...Last Guardian. I'd you like horror adventure try Until Dawn....
  3. Another - the atmosphere builds with every episode and it is very creepy. Some but not much gore. Future Diary is another one. Being stalked can be very unsettling lol...
  4. I'd say Space Opera...and I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on that one, haha. Shows like Crest of the Stars, Knights of Sidonia, Starship Operators, and basically anything that Matsumoto does is something that I look forward to. Mecha seems inevitably intertwined in there....I'm not too into Mecha but if done well, I'm up for it.

    TRAGEDY

Kanon....very tragic....loved it. Madoka was fairly tragic as well.
  6. Norn9....all that comes to mind for me.
  7. My favorites are HMC, PM, and SA. However, I learned from watching his works, that he must really like girls with short hair. Even if they don't start out with short hair, it usually is short by the end. Nothing wrong about that truthfully. It's an artist thing I can only surmise. I took my mom to a Picasso exhibit once and learned he had a foot obsession and pretty much invented putting stick figures in compromising positions lol. Had to apologize to my mom for that for showing her that on Mother's Day lol.
  8. For the DBZish genre, maybe try Yu Yu Hakusho (a classic) and Attack on Titan. But you may have already seen them I suppose. I'm not a huge follower of that genre so...hmm... Fate/ series?
  9. I actually have gone to a few panels at an anime-con I regularly visit which really went over this in depth. When I get home I might look around for some of my old Con booklets (I have kept maybe half of them) and see if I can find the name and information on the guy who did it. It was pretty interesting. Discussed the origins, how much they cost to make back in the day originally, where all of the "static sequences" came from and how far back it set the anime industry in terms of quality output, how to market anime back in the day after the war they relied heavily on a "French" setting eg. Tokyo Tower becomes Eifel Tower (apparently because there was a feeling that because it was Japanese in origin people would reject it after the war - instead people embraced it regardless and they eventually gave up the ruse), and so forth. He went into some interesting statistics as well as how the image back in the day was if you were watching anime you were watching "material of a graphic and civilly upsetting subject matter" ahem...if you get what I mean, but statistically you can prove that image false. Anyways, it was very interesting. It's way too early in the morning for me to really go into this in detail, but I do remember the "static sequences" talk. Basically, your static sequences is for example "a running through woods scene", a "transformation scene (popular in Sailor Moon)", or the like where one sequence of frames is made originally, then reused episode after episode. This took expensive framing and made it reusable, taking up seconds to minutes of a show (which would save the producers money). However, as you can all remember from Sailor Moon (my favorite example of overuse of this tactic), oftentimes the reusable sequences would literally take up over half of the show by the end of it (especially if you had multiple scouts transforming). This made creating the anime EXTREMELY cheap, but as a consumer, I personally felt robbed when all I really got from the show was maybe 10 minutes of actual action (a common response to overuse of static sequences). I don't think he called it "static sequences"...maybe recycled sequences? Anyways, that part always sticks out in my head. I'm very thankful that for the most part, anime developers have finally pushed past this tactic to make actual quality anime.
  10. Welcome to the forums. What anime have you been watching recently? Any favorites?
  11. Really? I would think that would be a really fast method of weeding out the ones you aren't looking for. Truth be told, as a girl who talks about anime and gaming, I have found that the people who look down on gaming oftentimes are not worth my time (they tend to be very self-absorbed people in my experience. If you are looking down on a gamer, what makes you think yourself so much better, after all?). Hmmm...not really sure what kind of high school you're in to be honest. When I was in high school, you weren't popular unless you were smart and being "geeky" was not considered a disadvantage to your character. If anything, it added to your character. My high school class had big plans, that being said haha
  12. Too many different anime to pick just one so I'll just have to scattershot this one. 1. Log Horizon - as a "neutral evil" character myself on the D&D personality chart, and with glasses that I oftentimes readjust when talking to people, I feel a certain kinship with Shiro. We even have the same play styles in gaming....He is probably half the reason that show has made it onto my list of favorites. I keep hoping for a season 3 to happen, but whether my wish will be answered..... 2. Yona of the Dawn - Wow...the character development here is not only major, but done in a believable manner. I love the story, the characters and everything about it. Definitely up there at the top! Now, we just need a season 2 to keep it coming! 3. Familiar of Zero - This one is love it or hate it. Well I loved it. Found myself laughing through the whole series. It had me hooked halfway through the first season so I ordered the rest online without seeing the season's conclusion. 4. Baccano! - So this one is Comedy/Horror. And it is very fast paced and has a lot of characters and moving parts. That being said, I loved it. I loved the way the story was portrayed and how everything was wrapped up in the end. For a short series, it really got a lot done. 5. Solty Rei - Really the ending that brings me in every time. There's a lot of development throughout the story, but you really see the strength in it right at the end.
  13. Welcome to the forums Random. I hope you enjoy your stay with us. I have to say, when I first ready that I like to eat...uh....bunnies are cute part, I really thought you said "I like to eat bunnies" LOL. Made me go "whoa..." haha.
  14. I'd say Solty Rei. The ending was very heartwarming...actually enjoyed the whole thing, but those final moments in the anime really took the build up to a heartwarming ending. Made my heart go "aww...". Other than that, Snow White with the Red Hair. Warms this old heart to watch Shirayuki changing people's hearts with every episode.
  15. If you like sharks then you need to come diving! Take a scuba diving class (the fins will help, and no bicycle kicking now) and come visit us in the sea I'm diving with sharks every dive. They really are amazing creatures.... and got to say it, GO WOLFPACK! Hehe. Mine is obviously the cat. They are beautiful and intelligent, kind of heart, and little furry humans at times. If you've never been loved by a cat, then your soul is still missing something yet. My favorite fish is the spadefish..I love how it schools together around the wrecks. So beautiful and elegant underwater. Makes me sad when I see someone spear one.

    Hello!

Hello Lulu. We are a pretty friendly group so welcome. Any favorite anime?
  17. That happens to me too. But I usually just flip to video gaming for a while. Seems my interests are cyclic in nature like that. It's not a bad thing really. I just sometimes am not feeling it. It helps when I'm in a slump like that to watch short anime (12 episode max anime) though occasionally a great one will cross my path that is longer and snare me all over again. It helps because the upfront commitment is much less time wise and I usually watch a greater variety in genres this way too (Which tend to pull me back in).
  18. Lejeune actually at the hospital. There's a good chance you've seen me at a clinic or two as well. I go wherever they tell me to go.
  19. Hi Uh. It's nice to meet you. I too am in that area and there are plenty of anime lovers around. We might have passed each other on base before as well though that is all I'm saying about that. Anyways, check out Animazement in Raleigh. You'll meet a ton of other anime fans (and cosplayers ) and get to talk about anime at length. It happens every year on Memorial Day weekend (which you'll probably have off). So what genres do you like or what is your favorite anime? Complains the person with Sloth in the name!
  20. Do you watch Homicide Hunter LT Joe Kenda? You have just inherited the title to your grandfather's farm and quit your soul-crushing job at WalPlace. You arrive in town with hopes of financial freedom and the answers to your prayers only to find the farm has gone wild with weeds and trees in the years since your grandfather's time. It'll be hard to be a farmer like your grandfather was. Do you....roll up your sleeves and burn the midnight candle cleaning up the farm and planting your first crops watering everyday until they are ready for harvest? Maybe sneak off to the river to fish for trout & daydreams to the babble of the brook. Perhaps, dive into the mines slaying monsters on a dark and dangerous adventure with your trusty pickaxe named "Toothpick", or do you ditch the farm for the local tavern and drink your newfound troubles of hard labor away quickly whittling to nothing what little money you saved up from working at WalPlace?
  21. I suggest you get the hulu subscription first. You'll still get the funimation shows, but most will release a day or two after they've released on funimation. They have a large anime library as well though it is mostly all subs. Funimation you'd just need to pay a little extra for dubs.
  22. Love it when Christmas comes early! Game wise, check out the Atelier series. If you were ever a Harvest Moon64 fan, then get Stardew Valley. I honestly used the hulu app more on my ps4. Paid for Funimation for a while but used hulu more. I have a Crunchyroll pass but never used it. Have fun
