  1. So, I'm attaching to this post the most recent ESA (Entertainment Software Association) Report from 2016. Inside are cool statistics about United States Gamership including but not limited to....platform ownership, genre purchasing distributions, gameplay preferences, gender and age examinations, and more! Anyways all, check it out. If you go to ESA's main page, they will detail a few tidbits that they believe are interesting in a "news summary" but the PDF is much more nitty gritty. From what I'm seeing, the average age of female gamers has stayed roughly the same in the past five year (if I remember correctly). It's also nice to know I'm in the 11% (VR purchasers, and yes, I'm glad I got it even if I don't play as often with it). Hope you all enjoy. The link to the PDF is below! Anyone else see anything especially interesting? I personally thought RPGs would have a bigger marketshare...but this is a US based study....probably would be completely different in Japan! 2. Sadly, that is a very common stereotype. I attended one anime panel that really focused in on debunking the "everyone into hentai" stereotype is, even going to the point of showing sales from the 80s and 90s of hentai versus the number of anime fans during the same timeframe. It was very interesting. I wish I still had the guy's information. I found my convention booklet for that year but it just has the name of the panel...no speaker info attached. Then, as said above, there's also the "cartoon" stereotype. That is especially embedded in the "just for kids" stereotype. It all really reminds me of the video gamer bad rap. I was told by a colleague once upon talking about video games that I couldn't be a fan. That was something just for guys....I MUST be making it up! Not to mention how childish and immature I must be for enjoying them! The horror that she had to work with such a child! No joke. Then she went on to say that only men of a young age (12-22 years old) play video games.... Yeah...I nearly fell on my face laughing. So, the next day I emailed her the most current report from the ESA (which at that time stated that 40% of gamers were women, and the average age if I remember correctly was somewhere around 35-40 years old LOL...I was actually younger than the average age!). Take that hater! The Most Recent ESA Statistics for those of you who are now wondering She hated me after that. Good thing I wasn't going to have to deal with her but for another month. She was the type of person who didn't like being wrong - and although she hated being wrong...she was terribly unprepared to perform her job...that's what happens when you go to a school that you pay to be given a degree (and yes, the place she graduated from is quite famous for that in my industry, no one takes their grads seriously). Anyways, I really wish that the anime industry had a version of the ESA. Truthfully, Japan does have an industry report. I believe it's from the Association of Japanese Animation....but it doesn't have the nitty gritty viewership details that ESA has for its own report (maybe they just didn't include it in the English summaries...). Sure it has how many people viewed or streamed something, but nothing like their ages and genders. I honestly wonder if that is why there is so much ecchi and harems. Do they really not have the viewership data to guide them in making a better anime? Do they really think that they are mostly serving young horny males (a common EA Games mistake...even with gamership data to contradict it)? Anyways....Click Here to Access the English Version of the AJA's Industry Reports. I would love to ask one of the producers or directors at a convention some day if they actually have the right statistics. It would be interesting to see if they even know themselves. I've done some digging and haven't been able to show much for it sadly.
  3. Well Hearts...I'm pretty sure...can't think of any other mecha/time traveling anime from 2014 anyways, that you are thinking of Buddy Complex. I haven't seen it myself so I can't verify the plot info, but maybe check it out and let us know? By the way, next time you might want to start up your own thread for a question like that. A lot of people typically stop reading once they've seen that the original topic question has been answered already, so you might've lost some people who would've known before they even got to your question. Welcome to our little group regardless! It's always nice to see new people on the forums.
  4. I agree with a lot of Giga's options. Second season of Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is worth looking into but not a reverse harem. Not a reverse harem but look into Recovery of an MMO Junkie. The reverse harems are unfortunately rare. I'm trying to snatched up what comes out now hoping they'll expand the market over here. =/
  5. I can actually see myself using that one. Ain't that the truth!? You are your worst enemy.
  6. Welcome to the forums! We are a pretty good group so I hope you enjoy your stay.
  7. Hey all. Well, I can't sleep...after being so exhausted I couldn't get up this weekend. Figures, right? So now I've been wondering what anime quotes do you all typically use in your own lives? My personal favorite quote comes from Outlaw Star. Hot Ice Hilda said it referring to outlaws... "it's just like it is with the stars. There are those that are bright and those that are dim. " I typically shorten it to "people are like the stars. There are those that are bright and those that are dim." as far as using it in my life. I'm not especially philosophical so when it pops out after I've had the unfortunate opportunity to talk to or observe a "dim star" my colleagues tend to be pretty surprised. I say it with the exact same tone as Hilda's, which really drives it home. I imagine if I didn't say that I'd be saying, "well, bless his/her heart!" instead lol. Anyone else have a quote from an anime that just pops out sometimes? And which anime did it come from?
  8. Haha, yes we all focus on the chest. It bounces around, expands past the size of the watermelons that grow around here, and apparently cause orgasms when gently bumped into by accident. Hard not to focus on something so...in your face LOL The upskirts are a problem, but those actually don't happen too much. Usually a gust of wind, a sudden blush, then a loud slap. Ahh....always followed by a loud slap....never a moan, whimper, squeal, or drool like with a boob squeeze. Now, ignoring upskirts, the butt-shots can be annoying. Truthfully, I have put some anime down half-way in for doing "doggy style" shots. It seems to happen a lot with girls in skin tight jumpsuits. Where are my crotch-shots of guys? There has to be some out there, right!? Anyways, I remember stopping My-Hime and not finishing it when my defective disc froze on this one scene of Mai sobbing her eyes out. It was doubly unfortunate that the position she was sobbing in and the "camera" angle had her frozen in what looked to be a blow job of one of the main guys. Yep....with my dirty mind, if I hadn't seen the previous minute of the scene I would have sworn that is what that frame was expressing. I never bothered replacing the disk after being stuck looking at that. That was a tricky one the animators snuck in. If that disc hadn't been defective and glitching so badly I bet I wouldn't have noticed it at all in the scene. I do want to throw something else out that I didn't mention before. Spas and bathhouses....now, I had a sister....and I had friends who were girls too. I don't EVER remember comparing bra sizes with them or feeling one another up in the pool or ocean. I always wonder why girls in anime can't seem to get enough of touching each other's boobs once they wrap a towel around themselves. Can anyone confirm if my experience has been an outlier here? I see these scenes and go "wow....they need to back down on the hormone injections...these girls are as horny as herd of dairy cows in heat!" (If you have never seen a field of dairy cows in heat...then you probably won't understand that....)
  9. Yu Yu Hakusho, if you are looking for something with fighting. The first part has very little fighting...but it's pretty good. PSYCHO-PASS is very dark...kind of a psychological thriller type. Tokyo Ghoul would be another to look into more of a horror kind of dark. Baccano! of course would be right up your alley and a "dark comedy" with a little bit of everything thrown in for a really fun time.
  10. His and Her Circumstances - this anime really sets the bar...Most of the anime is great. I've heard that the manga continues on and is epic. It's more of a rom-com, so expect some laughs. Okami-san and Her Seven Companions - I really wish the author would get around to continuing this one. It's very special in that the characters are based off of fairy-tales (some more obvious than others). I really urge you to watch it first and try to figure out who each character is supposed to be before you go looking up interpretations on Wikipedia or any anime forum. I'll just say that it is a great anime and leave it at that. This you'll probably end up loving and then you'll hate the author for dragging his or her feet in finishing it too. The Familiar of Zero - I'm probably going to catch a lot of flack for this one.... Okay, be prepared for a female lead that keeps a whip in her back pocket hehe And he deserves every...single....lashing.... It's a harem anime and the first season is great! The subsequent seasons tend to see some of the side harem character's personalities degenerate into boobs, boobs, and outright attempted rape at times, but if you stick it out (and I actually did...the Japanese actress...it is Subbed only season two and onward....did an amazing job expressing Louise's anxiety through her voice alone in some scenes) I think you'll really enjoy it. It is one of the few harem anime that has a lot of immature boob squeezing and whatnot that I was willing to tolerate for the sake of enjoying the storyline. Him being whipped for his wanderings helped in that regard I imagine lol.
  11. Ah you see, I didn't bother saying Hiiro no Kakera (although I really like crows hehe We need more crows in anime!) because they really grew up as "humans" who are taught from a young age that they will have to be guardians. Figured it was not quite what was being looked for. Still, I agree it is a GREAT reverse harem. I absolutely loved it. Will be raving about it for weeks no doubt. Hakuoki is pretty good too but probably not what you're looking for (set in the past for example). It can be pretty expensive to collect the entire series too so...
  12. Hmmm... Engaged to the Unidentified was good (sadly the romance was focused on less - I hope they continue the anime anyways). Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is a harem anime but one of the girls is a ghost. Then, there's Ah! My Goddess too A pretty bad one would be Okamikakushi. I rate it a 5-6 on a 10 point scale really in terms overall. It has more obsession and lust than outright romance. And....the poor human is a guy haha. Felt kind of bad for him by the end of it all. If you want to try a mobile phone/tablet game based off of those exact parameters you mentioned, I'd suggest Enchanted in the Moonlight. Be careful, the app is free but you pay per story (between 2-5 dollars depending on which one and if it's an epilogue or sequel story) so if you don't watch out it'll get pretty expensive fairly fast. My personal favorite storyline was Chikage's. Only didn't test out two of them. Really liked most of the stories. If you do try it out, I really recommend avoiding Kiryu's for your first time around. It's probably further from your parameters than anything else.
  13. Welcome to the forums! We are a pretty friendly group, so I hope that you enjoy your stay. Any favorite anime?
  14. Louise the Zero from Familiar of Zero
  15. Welcome to the forums! We all love an so you are in good company here
  16. I was so excited at the beginning too. So disappointed by the end of the first episode. Vivi, you must have a great deal of perseverance to make it to the end!
  17. Welcome to the forums Deku! We're s pretty good group here, so I hope that you enjoy your stay.
  18. I'd say The Irregulars at Magic High. The MC struck me as my most loathed type....the zero personality with underrated but bad ass skills with this superiority complex, whom all the ladies immediately fawn all over....even his sister, who doesn't even have the shame to hide her lust and obsession with him (and this seems to really turn him on ~vomits~). Now, while I am really not a fan of incest relationships, there has been one or two tastefully done ones that I've seen. This was not one of them. I gave it three episodes then quit and have never looked back. A good runner up would be Elfin Lied. Boob squeezing (essentially molestation) of a mentally challenged girl he just met? No thanks. Wish social services had paid a visit to that residence! Tried to watch it twice on my best friend's insistence. Quit midway through both times. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is more of a tragic comedy to me. It isn't bad. I really enjoyed it. But there is no happy ending.
  19. Hey everyone! Just like it says.... Oh my! For those of you who are unaware... An Otome game is in a sense a "visual novel", "dating sim" type game where you play the role of a female, who through the course of the story is bound to end up forming a romantic relationship with one of the many handsome (and personality diverse) men around her in the story. She might save the world or she might be just trying to make it through her studies or life, or whatever the circumstances. The main goal is developing a romantic relationship with another character.
  20. - Showing up for work. Truthfully, it once was something I enjoyed...enjoy no longer...
  21. I'll try to remember but truthfully my memory gets worse the older I get lol.
