His and Her Circumstances - this anime really sets the bar...Most of the anime is great. I've heard that the manga continues on and is epic. It's more of a rom-com, so expect some laughs. Okami-san and Her Seven Companions - I really wish the author would get around to continuing this one. It's very special in that the characters are based off of fairy-tales (some more obvious than others). I really urge you to watch it first and try to figure out who each character is supposed to be before you go looking up interpretations on Wikipedia or any anime forum. I'll just say that it is a great anime and leave it at that. This you'll probably end up loving and then you'll hate the author for dragging his or her feet in finishing it too. The Familiar of Zero - I'm probably going to catch a lot of flack for this one.... Okay, be prepared for a female lead that keeps a whip in her back pocket hehe And he deserves every...single....lashing.... It's a harem anime and the first season is great! The subsequent seasons tend to see some of the side harem character's personalities degenerate into boobs, boobs, and outright attempted rape at times, but if you stick it out (and I actually did...the Japanese actress...it is Subbed only season two and onward....did an amazing job expressing Louise's anxiety through her voice alone in some scenes) I think you'll really enjoy it. It is one of the few harem anime that has a lot of immature boob squeezing and whatnot that I was willing to tolerate for the sake of enjoying the storyline. Him being whipped for his wanderings helped in that regard I imagine lol.

Ah you see, I didn't bother saying Hiiro no Kakera (although I really like crows hehe We need more crows in anime!) because they really grew up as "humans" who are taught from a young age that they will have to be guardians. Figured it was not quite what was being looked for. Still, I agree it is a GREAT reverse harem. I absolutely loved it. Will be raving about it for weeks no doubt. Hakuoki is pretty good too but probably not what you're looking for (set in the past for example). It can be pretty expensive to collect the entire series too so...

Hmmm... Engaged to the Unidentified was good (sadly the romance was focused on less - I hope they continue the anime anyways). Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is a harem anime but one of the girls is a ghost. Then, there's Ah! My Goddess too A pretty bad one would be Okamikakushi. I rate it a 5-6 on a 10 point scale really in terms overall. It has more obsession and lust than outright romance. And....the poor human is a guy haha. Felt kind of bad for him by the end of it all. If you want to try a mobile phone/tablet game based off of those exact parameters you mentioned, I'd suggest Enchanted in the Moonlight. Be careful, the app is free but you pay per story (between 2-5 dollars depending on which one and if it's an epilogue or sequel story) so if you don't watch out it'll get pretty expensive fairly fast. My personal favorite storyline was Chikage's. Only didn't test out two of them. Really liked most of the stories. If you do try it out, I really recommend avoiding Kiryu's for your first time around. It's probably further from your parameters than anything else.

Welcome to the forums! We all love an so you are in good company here -
I was so excited at the beginning too. So disappointed by the end of the first episode. Vivi, you must have a great deal of perseverance to make it to the end!

I'd say The Irregulars at Magic High. The MC struck me as my most loathed type....the zero personality with underrated but bad ass skills with this superiority complex, whom all the ladies immediately fawn all over....even his sister, who doesn't even have the shame to hide her lust and obsession with him (and this seems to really turn him on ~vomits~). Now, while I am really not a fan of incest relationships, there has been one or two tastefully done ones that I've seen. This was not one of them. I gave it three episodes then quit and have never looked back. A good runner up would be Elfin Lied. Boob squeezing (essentially molestation) of a mentally challenged girl he just met? No thanks. Wish social services had paid a visit to that residence! Tried to watch it twice on my best friend's insistence. Quit midway through both times. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is more of a tragic comedy to me. It isn't bad. I really enjoyed it. But there is no happy ending.

Hey everyone! Just like it says.... Oh my! For those of you who are unaware... An Otome game is in a sense a "visual novel", "dating sim" type game where you play the role of a female, who through the course of the story is bound to end up forming a romantic relationship with one of the many handsome (and personality diverse) men around her in the story. She might save the world or she might be just trying to make it through her studies or life, or whatever the circumstances. The main goal is developing a romantic relationship with another character.

I'll try to remember but truthfully my memory gets worse the older I get lol.

So by dark...do you mean tragic? I'm trying to piece this together to help you but dark means so many different things to different people. I'd recommend Bacanno! It's a fairly dark comedy, really a masterpiece even. Has some romance in it, some gore (but not in excess as some shows do), some psychological terror, suspense, mystery, comedy...really it has a lot to offer. The story itself moves extremely fast however, so you need to give it your full attention if you watch it. Otherwise you'll be lost after just one episode. Romance is not the main focus here. The comedy is. It is still there intertwined in the story. Norn9 is also a tragic romance you may want to look into. It has dark elements to it, some mystery and suspense as well. Beautifully animated. Either of those two pique your interest? Hmmm...there is always Future Diary as well. That one is very special. You can't forget it.

Watched and loved Norn9! It was like a pseudo - space opera so that really made it even more interesting to me. It really pulled you in and quickly. Beautiful animation too. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you have some strong Reverse Harem leanings (just about all the anime you've named are reverse harems or have reverse harem elements in them). I have not yet watched Vampire Knight but it is on my list to watch this year I think Yona pulled me in because she evolved over time. There is enough back story to understand her motivations as well as her change. Then the change is not immediate. It was so good that I called up my best friend and told her she HAD to watch it! At the time I was just surfing through Hulu looking at the new anime they were streaming just looking for something to watch for a day or two. I think the coverart reminded me of reverse harems so I decided to give it a try. Never regretted it.

I have not watched Norigami. I don't have a lot of time so I pick and choose about 6 months out what I hope to watch that year. However, I recommend since you liked Yona, to try Snow White with the Red Hair. I actually watched it the same week I first watched Yona, right after finishing Yona. My husband was at a business convention for the week so I spent everyday after work eating pizza and watching tons of anime Watched it on a whim and never regretted it. By the way, what was it about Yona that made it your favorite?

Hot chocolate I don't drink much milk....hot chocolate is like a delicacy for me. It is best with marshmallows. A shot of butterscotch schnapps makes it pretty interesting too Mmmmm....hot chocolate. Curses! Now I'm going to have to stop and get me some on the way home!

I like flawed people. That being said, if the main protagonist doesn't grow, learn, evolve....it would really detract from the story for me. However, I could understand a relationship where one protagonist is sacrificing their happiness or whatever in order to protect or guide a weaker protagonist if the story is about their evolving relationship. A protagonist doesn't have to be physically or combatively strong. He or she could be tactically adept, scientifically strong, have emotional fortitude, be a political genius or just about anything. Now the bad ass part... a perfect character cannot grow. You can be bad ass in some things, but too much becomes a Mary Sue to me. I don't like Mary Sues. This is also true of main villians! Many villians are Mary Sues themselves. It seems to be the ultimate endpoint of a villian ~sighs~ This whole thing is what made Tsukasa in dot Hack an odd character for me. Tsukasa ws not really bad ass on his own, suffered from being trapped and used, and was full of fear and terror (understandably so). It is one of the only instances I can think of where a protagonist has had to really rely on others to get through it all. That was probably weakness done right.

Welcome to the forums Yona Hime. I think you'll find a good number of us here are Yona fans. Since you liked Inuyasha, have you ever seen Rin-ne? When I first started watching it, it gave me a total Inuyasha vibe...then I found out it was made by the same guy. You might like it.

For the most part, I find it obtrusive and detracting from the storylines. Oftentimes you see it in harems, where there is a set relationship between two of the characters but someone can't stop themself from squeezing someone else's titties. Yep, I just said it.The relationship between the titties girl and the main doesn't exist except to squeeze titties and annoy the main romance character. Pointless. Frustrating. Annoying. At this point, I am relieved to find shows that don't have a beach episode (straight fluff and service). Happy when I find a show where women wear clothes (scantily clad bikini armor heck no!). Truthfully, I may feel differently if it were scantily clad men (where's my speedo armor guy? The handsy woman grabbing some hunk's stuff?). But it never seems to be. ~sighs~ That being said, some anime do it well. The Girl Who Leapt Through Space for instance. Really well done. Two golden balls hahaha.... it had jokes, that actually had me laughing. Anyways, I can see where some people may like it, but for me, fanservice is usually something to roll my eyes at, not admire. It seems to be here to stay so I try to ignore it as best I can.

What is your age group? Adult What is your preferred genre of anime? Changes every year. I swing between space opera, paranormal, and romance from year to year. Male or female? Female - I think if you went to an anime convention you'd be surprised at how even the genders are in numbers. Do you think anime is for kids? Wow, what a close-ended question. I'll just give you an open ended answer anyways. Anime is a massive industry. Consider it like American Hollywood. You have movies with various ratings (G, PG, PG13, NC17, R). Obviously the G and PG movies are made either directed at a very young and sheltered population or made to be enjoyed in the company of such a population. PG13 might be less sheltered, typically directed at teens and adults and so forth. An R rating obviously adults only. Anime is like that, except without the rating system. There are anime made for kids, made for teens, made for adults made for all. Ponyo to me is aimed at younger children. Princess Mononoke is aimed more at your adult and teen populations. Hentai is definitely aimed at adults. There are many anime as diverse as the stars in the sky. Someone up above said Anime is for all. I agree with that. Anime is for all and can offer every age something to enjoy.
