  1. Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra episode 9 Truly the most heart-warming headpat of the season Loving the “family” dynamic that has developed: Takuto - good natured but awkward husband & dad; Atou - devoted wife & most competent (and dangerous) member of family; Maria & Caria - twin daughters; Dark Physicians - weird uncles; Isla - nurturing but firm aunt (perfectly voiced by Kikuko Inoue)
  2. The only reason I’m willing to give Call of the Night season 2 a chance is we’re supposed to get some insight into that crazy private investgator / vampire slayer woman (though I’m not convinced it will be worth putting up with the annoying male lead ) And can’t mention crazy vampire hunter without thinking of
  3. Bad Girl episode 9 - Guess Yuu & Mizuka were too young to be familiar with the expression “Don’t poke the bear” (or maybe it’s just a western thing). Ursula Ursakaze, indeed . Continues to be my funniest show of the season
  4. While these remain my current highlights from My Dress -up Darling S2, I think episode 9 was my favorite so far. Juju & Shinju (the sisters from season 1) really livened things up with their return I can see Akira catching a lot of hate for her attitude towards Marin, but given that their personalities are polar opposites, it’s actually understandable that she finds Marin to be a bit “Too Much”. She obviously is dealing with some issues & personally I like her character & am looking forward to learning more about her. And then there’s the misunderstanding the episode ended on … hoo boy, it’s gonna be a long night Starting to think maybe the season can still be salvaged after all.
  5. Kaiju No. 8 is pretty much just text-book shonen at this point, but executed well enough to be my #2 for the season (Dandadan remains #1)
  6. Finally got around to watching K-Pop Demon Hunters. Was definitely entertaining
  7. More Fel. More Sui. A new mouth to feed. The goddesses are still mooches. And looks like a couple gods & an eccentric elf join the cast Just noticed the new trailer listed Prime Video, even though CR had previously announced they had the rights. Hope they didn’t lose it
  8. Candidates for WORST hair (hopefully not insulting anyone ) not that I’m in any position to judge
  9. Dennou Coil definitely near the top of my list. Especially the episode where all the kids (regardless of gender) started growing beards. That turned out to be civilizations of nanomachines which declared nuclear war on each other (no, I didn’t make this up). Puberty & acne can be rough, but dang …
  10. First example that came to my mind Wouldn’t call it best or even a favorite but at least it’s memorable Are we SURE saiyans are monkeys & not hedgehogs? Was Washu a saiyan? For a science nerd, Senku can rock a delinquent (punk?) look (Albert Einstein / Billy Idol) Okarun makes it work both ways Dude knows how to get attention I actually think Rin is cuter with a bun than straight hair This might be going too far though Not dreads, but kind of a similar vibe A couple of my favorite female do’s currently more to come …
  11. My favorite remake is probably Fruits Basket. The original didn’t make much of an impression on me, but the remake haf me emotionally invested through out it’s 3 year run. While this is probably due at least in part to life changes for me, I’m sure being a more complete adaption also had a lot to do with it. Some other remakes I enjoyed include Rurouni Kenshin, Spriggan, Ushio & Tora and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I have mixed feelings about Trigun: Stampede. I primarily didn’t like the changes made to Meryl’s character & Milly’s omission. Though it’s indicated she will appear in the follow-up, so guess I’ll wait to make a final verdict. Also mixed feelings on the Star Bkazers/Space Battleship Yamato remakes. The visual & animation quality upgrade is definitely welcome as well the toning down of some of the more kitschy elements. However in some ways the storyline is harder to follow & they even eliminated some elements i liked in the original. Also, while the number & role of female characters increased, it also felt like greater emphasis was put on fanservice. Didn’t care for the recent Ranma 1/2 remake. While the original had way too much filler content, the newer version didn’t have the same frenetic energy, for me anyway. Also preferred the older version of Kino’s Journey. I’m apprehensive of the upcoming Magic Knight Rayearth remake as I didn’t enjoy the alternative OVA version & CLAMP’s recent attempts to revive their classic series don’t have a good track record for me. As far as a remake I want to see, Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm) definitely needs a more comprehensive anime adaption of the manga.
  12. Yeah, I think Ouka was probably my favorite thing about that particular version of .hack (manga & anime). Still think she’s one of the most attractive kemonomimi characters in anime.
  13. Haven’t actually done any rewatching since I started using streaming services since I’m still having too much fun exploring what’s out there. But there are scenes/jokes from Azumanga Daioh & School Rumble that still pop into my head sometimes & make me chuckle even after all these years. Yuru Camp doesn’t really have any real story development, but I’m still wanting more, even after 3 seasons. I do expect to burn out on seasonals eventually & start revisiting some past series, most notably Slayers. I actually expect it probably won’t have aged well since I recall feeling the humor got repetitive even back in the day. But it was one of the first series I started collecting on VHS (spent a considerable amount of time & money on it ) & my original viewing was a mix of dubbed/subtitled versions since the tapes weren’t always easy to find. I have all 5 seasons on disc, but haven’t even gotten around to watching 4&5 yet
  14. The Amercanized stuff on broadcast tv that made the biggest impact on me was Star Blazers & Robotech. But also remember watching Galaxy Express 999 (Roger Corman movie version), Voltron (Go Lion), Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman), Tranzor (Mazinger) Z, the DIC dub of Sailor Moon, Pre-Z Dragonball & Pokemon. Started watching what some people consider “true” anime in the 90s on VHS with series like Ranma 1/2, Project A-ko, Tenchi Muyo, Slayers Magic Knight Rayearth & Irresponsible Captain Tylor thanks to the Suncoast store at the mall. But wasn’t part of the fansub community & missed out on early Toonami because we didn’t have cable tv. Eventually got DISH TV, so started watching Toonami (notably Hunter x Hunter & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) & anime on Syfy & Chiller (most notably Monster, but was unable to finish it due to the power kept going out when I was trying to record it during the winter months ). At some point also started getting anime from Netflix’ disc by mail service. Didn’t start using streaming services until 2018 & really expanded the kind of anime I was watching (finally got to watch Monster in it’s entirety on Netflix a couple years ago). Easiest way to see what I’m currently watching & my faves is my MAL profile (link in signature).
  15. Quite possibly. I saw my first episode of Star Blazers on a staticky black & white tv when I was around 10 years old. Had never even heard the term anime before, but immediately realized it was different from other “cartoons” I’d been watching. That’s where it all started for me & thanks to streaming services, watching more anime now than ever before.
  16. When your niece want’s to see the new Demon Slayer movie, but it’s rated R & her parents don’t watch anime. Otaku Uncle to the rescue. (no I don’t have a niece, just thought it would be a funny caption for the picture ) Confirmed: Mashiro is actually a Lickitung (Pokemon) in disguise
  17. That’s nostalgic. gotta love Pepper’s character design I actually enjoyed it, though I didn’t like the sequel as much. I haven’t played any console or PC games in years (I think the last one was Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia on my DS). Only thing I’ve played recently is Best Fiends on my phone.
  18. I assume you are joking, Monster is definitely not intended for kids.
  19. Welcome Hope you find things to interest you here.
  20. Comics were my obsession in the 80s & 90s prior to being overtaken by anime. Primarily Spiderman & X-men titles, but also enjoyed alternative titles like Bone by Jeff Smith & Elfquest by Wendy & Richard Pini. Pretty much stopped following in the early 2000s though I still enjoy a lot of superhero & comic inspired movies & tv. And miss the days of hanging out with fellow “nerds” at comic shops & arcades.
  21. Already dreading the return of winter

I wouldn't mind it, at least for a bit.  I'm pretty good with the dry heat we usually get here in the desert southwest but there were times today when I'd certainly have appreciated a 10-minute break in snowman weather.

Every winter keeps giving me a new reason to absolutely despise the snow, because apparently, I don't have enough reasons to hate it already.
