  1. The Amercanized stuff on broadcast tv that made the biggest impact on me was Star Blazers & Robotech. But also remember watching Galaxy Express 999 (Roger Corman movie version), Voltron (Go Lion), Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman), Tranzor (Mazinger) Z, the DIC dub of Sailor Moon, Pre-Z Dragonball & Pokemon. Started watching what some people consider “true” anime in the 90s on VHS with series like Ranma 1/2, Project A-ko, Tenchi Muyo, Slayers Magic Knight Rayearth & Irresponsible Captain Tylor thanks to the Suncoast store at the mall. But wasn’t part of the fansub community & missed out on early Toonami because we didn’t have cable tv. Eventually got DISH TV, so started watching Toonami (notably Hunter x Hunter & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) & anime on Syfy & Chiller (most notably Monster, but was unable to finish it due to the power kept going out when I was trying to record it during the winter months ). At some point also started getting anime from Netflix’ disc by mail service. Didn’t start using streaming services until 2018 & really expanded the kind of anime I was watching (finally got to watch Monster in it’s entirety on Netflix a couple years ago). Easiest way to see what I’m currently watching & my faves is my MAL profile (link in signature).
  2. Quite possibly. I saw my first episode of Star Blazers on a staticky black & white tv when I was around 10 years old. Had never even heard the term anime before, but immediately realized it was different from other “cartoons” I’d been watching. That’s where it all started for me & thanks to streaming services, watching more anime now than ever before.
  3. When your niece want’s to see the new Demon Slayer movie, but it’s rated R & her parents don’t watch anime. Otaku Uncle to the rescue. (no I don’t have a niece, just thought it would be a funny caption for the picture ) Confirmed: Mashiro is actually a Lickitung (Pokemon) in disguise
  4. That’s nostalgic. gotta love Pepper’s character design I actually enjoyed it, though I didn’t like the sequel as much. I haven’t played any console or PC games in years (I think the last one was Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia on my DS). Only thing I’ve played recently is Best Fiends on my phone.
  5. I assume you are joking, Monster is definitely not intended for kids.
  6. Welcome Hope you find things to interest you here.
  7. Comics were my obsession in the 80s & 90s prior to being overtaken by anime. Primarily Spiderman & X-men titles, but also enjoyed alternative titles like Bone by Jeff Smith & Elfquest by Wendy & Richard Pini. Pretty much stopped following in the early 2000s though I still enjoy a lot of superhero & comic inspired movies & tv. And miss the days of hanging out with fellow “nerds” at comic shops & arcades.
  8. Already dreading the return of winter

I wouldn't mind it, at least for a bit.  I'm pretty good with the dry heat we usually get here in the desert southwest but there were times today when I'd certainly have appreciated a 10-minute break in snowman weather.

Every winter keeps giving me a new reason to absolutely despise the snow, because apparently, I don't have enough reasons to hate it already.

  9. Though it’s kind of disingenuous calling Ren a psycho when season 1 alone of Re:Zero gave us Elsa & Petelgeuse. And it pales in comparison to the freakshow of characters in season 3.
  10. Favorite: sense of humor, loyalty, creative (outside the box) thinking. Least: arrogance
  11. Yeah, Atou is rapidly becoming my ideal waifu: adorkable & terrifying
  12. Bought my ticket to see the 1st Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie next month.

  13. Sampled the season’s 2 new big action shonen series (Gachiakuta & Tougen Anki) but honestly not impressed with either. Sticking with Dandadan & Kaiju No. 8, both of which I’m liking. Was really looking forward to My Dress-up Darling’s 2nd season, but has been pretty disappointing so far. Not enough cute Marin & Gojo moments. Giving too much screentime to generic background characters (their classmates & Marin’s co-workers). The arc with the otokonoko cosplayer (Amane) was decent at least. But the only segments I found as enjoyable as season 1 so far was Gojo looking after sick Marin & the “birthday” celebration
  14. I don’t watch a lot of sports anime so may not be what you’re looking for, but ones I enjoyed with a male focused cast & english dub on CR (I think): Hinomaru Sumo, Megalo Box, The Gymnastics Samurai. I’ve heard good things about Tsurune, Run With the Wind & Yowamushi Pedal but haven’t seen them & don’t think they have english dubs.
  15. Welcome Hope you find things to interest you here & decide to stick around. My fave romantic drama is the Fruits Basket remake. For something a bit more obscure maybe Insomniacs After School. Most recent was probably Kowloon Generic Romance. I usually prefer romcoms though.
  16. Pretty much the whole cast of Batman - The Animated Series: Mark Hamill (Joker), Kevin Conroy (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Arleen Sorkin (Harley Quinn), Richard Moll (Harvey Dent/Two-Face), Roddy McDowall (Mad Hatter), Ron Perlman (Clayface) As far as multiple tv/movie roles, can’t forget to mention Mel Blanc & Frank Oz.
  17. No question Crunchyroll has the largest library of titles, but Hidive has some I enjoy as well: Azumanga Daioh • Beautiful Bones • Danmachi (Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon) • Insomniacs After School • Flying Witch • From Bureaucrat to Villainess • Ippon Again • Kino’s Journey (2003) • K-On • Made in Abyss • Oshi no Ko • Princess Tutu • Rock is a Lady’s Modesty • The Dangers in My Heart • The Eminence in Shadow . Currently watching Bad Girl, not sure if I’ll watch 2nd season of Call of the Night.

  19. Saori Hayami: Yor (Spy x Family) • Shinobu (Demon Slayer) • Yumeko (Kakegurui) • Ameri (Welcome to Demon School, Irumakun) Junichi Suwabe: Sakuna (Jujutsu Kaisen) • Eraserhead (My Hero Academia) • Greed (Fullmetal Alchemist) Takehito Koyasu: Dio (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure) • Roswaal (Re:Zero) • Uncle/Ojisan (Uncle From Another World) • Zeke (Attack on Titan Satoshi Hino: Ainz al Goown Overlord) • Rengoku (Demon Slayer) • Leonhart (Sacrificial Princess & The King of Beasts) • Fel (Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill) Kenjiro Tsuda: Kaiba (Yugioh) • Joker (Fire Force) • Overhaul (My Hero Academia) • Nanami (Jujutsu Kaisen) Rie Takahashi: Megumin (Konosuba) • Emilia (Re:Zero) • Takagi (Teasing Master Takagi)
  20. In addition to my weekly seasonals: Over the next couple weeks planning to finish up Bullet Bullet & See You Tomorrow at the Food Court. 2nd Mononoke movie is supposed to go up on Netflix on the 14th. After those, will probably start The Summer Hikaru Died. Planning to wait for season end to watch/finish: Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus & To Be Hero X.
