  1. Rewatched Black Fox & think I enjoyed it even more the 2nd time. Hope we get more of it someday
  2. Glad you found your way here. Hope you enjoy yourself
  3. My knowledge of anime is not so much a matter of passion as watching it longer than a lot of folks here gave been alive and not having a social life Even so, there are a number of well known series I haven’t seen or finished (watched Madoka for the first time just months ago). I’ve been fascinated with animation (not just anime) for as long as I can remember though.
  4. I’d commented on it in the currently watching thread. Somali & the Forest Spirit - definitely getting a Miyazaki vibe from this series (Spirited Away in particular). The concept & visual style really stand out, but the feelz felt a bit off target for me (similar to A Centaur’s Life). Still, with as much potential as it has, will give it 6 episodes at minimum.
  5. The top is Aqua from Konosuba Not sure about the bottom but art style looks similar to Jojo.
  6. In addition to the factoids in the main series, there will be a series of educational shorts https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-01-03/asteroid-in-love-tv-anime-gets-educational-shorts/.155018 Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be included on CR & the video in the article isn’t subtitled. Hopefully one will show up on Youtube eventually.
  7. Watched a number of premieres over the last couple days. Darwin’s Game - another game with life or death consequences series. I wasn’t impressed by the trailers/PVs & the first ep did nothing to change that. More than anything seems like an excuse for excessively bloody violence & some fanservice thrown in at the end. Since this was a double length episode, think I’ve seen enough to decide it’s not for me. Asteroid in Love - cute girls learning about astronomy (and apparently geology later on). The brightness of art style really emphasizes the cuteness of the chatacters & the beauty of the constellations. Wasn’t expecting a twist to be thrown in this early in the series and apparently all the central characters have been introduced right off the bat so not exactly following the usual CGDCT formula. Not expecting a great deal of depth, but at least some educational value. Probably a keeper.
  8. I’m not worried about the machines taking over or anything, but there are constant reminders that the people encouraging our increased reliance on tech to do things for us are far from altruistic. As far as the argument that freedom from trivial & mundane tasks allows people to put their time and energy to better use, this seems far more likely https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_xToQ4cIHkk
  9. Welcome from someone who throws that average off considerably. Hope you enjoy it here
  10. Continuing the trend of anime movies getting US releases, Weathering With You is coming to a local theater on January 15th & 16th. Looks amazing, but ironically “weather” is kinda unpredictable this time of year, so gonna wait till closer to time to decide whether to buy tickets (showings are weekday nights so shouldn’t sell out) https://www.fathomevents.com/categories/anime
  11. For those subscribing to Crunchyroll or VRV it apparently got an early release today https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/01/02-1/somali-and-the-forest-spirit-episode-1-debuts-on-crunchyroll-a-week-ahead-of-japan I’ll have to check it out this evening.
  12. Eilrahc? Sorry, I’m dyslexic. Kidding. Welcome to the forums
  13. Cardcaptor Sakura (not a fan of Clear Card though) Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
  14. Finished up the 2nd couer earlier today. Pretty predictable and it got kinda heavyhanded with it’s “message”, but I still found it enjoyable enough. And I liked a lot of the songs (especially the main duo’s).
  15. For me a lot of the show’s appeal was it’s cast of characters you can’t help but grow attached to. I haven’t played the games, but am curious if you’ve seen the Steins Gate 0 anime or the movie (Load Region of Deja Vu) and if so what you thought of them. Also I understand the series Robitics Notes & Chaos Head take place in the same “universe”, though I haven’t watched either.
  16. Started watching the rebroadcast/edit of Re:ZERO and think I’m going to enjoy it. The interactions between Subaru & Kazuma in Isekai Quartet already seem funnier after seeing how similar they really are. Though Subaru seems like a genuinely nice guy & Kazuma ... not so much And Puck is already one of my favorite mascot characters Have to say the shift in tone was pretty jarring though even with the foreshadowing of the opening scene. Like on the same level as Higurashi. Only up to the equivalent of episode 2 of season 1, but already seems like it will be a wild ride. Edit: apparently the 1st episode was double length to begin with. Future episodes are supposed to be 2 at a time so they can finish before season 2 starts in April
  17. It maybe a new year & a new decade, but pretty much just another day in the life for me 😂

Off work so doing some household chores & watching anime. Appropriately finished the 2nd couer of Carol & Tuesday and watching the edit/rebroadcast of RE:Zero

Next week will probably be when I feel exhausted. Trying to make it through a full work week after 2 short weeks.

  18. Personally I tried watching that one and don’t get the appeal. Of course humor is highly subjective IMO, which is why I listed so many.
  19. I order from them 3 or 4 times a year & have never had any complaints.
  20. Ban does some embarrassing things to Jericho, but at least she responds by getting pissed off by it. Elizabeth is clearly embarrassed and uncomfortable, but never gets mad about it.
  21. Mixed feelings for me. Storyline seems fairly typical shonen fare though I would still rate it slightly above average. The action sequences and fights are well animated and are one of the series strongest points. As far as the characters, I like most of them (Ban & Escanor are personal faves). But I have a genuine dislike for Gowther. And then there are the 2 leads: Melodias & Elizabeth. Individually they’re not that bad, but I just find their interactions outside of the stereotypical rescues, it pretty much consists of Melodias shoving his head under her skirt & her responding with “Oh, you <tee, hee>”. In close to 40 years of watching anime, I’m no stranger to fanservice & ecchiness and even find it entertaining at times. But the brainlessness of these repeated scenes and the fact that the viewer is supposed to see them as a genuinely romantic couple is just insulting. Overall rating probably a 6.5/10
  22. I’m not familiar with the game, but watching these oddball side series after the epicness of Fate Zero has been a disappointing experience. I doubt I’ll continue FGOADFB unless I get really desperate in the upcoming season. Back on topic
  23. Some anime of the decade results per polls/viewership data from Funimation & CR. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-12-31/funimation-reveals-results-of-decade-of-anime-fan-polls/.154809 https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-12-31/crunchyroll-reveals-most-watched-anime-of-the-decade-by-region/.154915 Funi’s results are much more in tune with my personal tastes.
