Episode 19 - I’m a horrible person for laughing at Shigure’s editor, he’s gonna give that poor woman a nervous breakdown one day (if he hasn’t already). Favorite line : “Sensei is an obnoxi-pus” Can’t say I really liked Ritsu as the hysterics were a bit overblown for my tastes. But once again Tohru’s empathy allows her to say the right things to help him with his issues. Seems like they were trying to ship him with editor-chan too. As far as last week’s episode with Kisa

Episode 19 last week’s episode seemed a bit lacking, but this week KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE FRIGGIN PARK!!! (totally felt like a finale and we’re only halfway through the second cour). If you have any appreciation for this series and have fallen behind CATCH UP NOW!!! And end credits sequence is worthy of a movie

Welcome, glad you decided to join us Looking to explore outside shounen, hmm I would recommend Magic Knight Rayearth as a transitional series. It’s shoujo (female MCs & more apt to explore emotions and romance) but still with a lot of action including fights with magical swords, bows and even giant robots later on. It’s also one of the earlier examples of an isekai series (my recommendation is for the 2 tv series, not the short OVA which was awful IMO). For something more realistic I would recommend A Place Further than the Universe about a group of highschool girls accompanying a research expedition to the Antarctic. Finally if you’re curious about the slice of life or CGDCT genre I recommend Azumanga Daioh, Yuru Camp & K-on!

Decided to give VRV a try since it’s just a couple dollars a month more than my standalone CR subscription aabd also gives me access to Hidive (and some “cartoon” channels). Of Sentai’s new anime series, enjoying The Demon Girl Next Door which is proving to he a funny (and at times cute) parody of Magical Girl anime.

So Latina shows she can already be helpful on an expedition, though I imagine the regulars at the inn miss her. And can’t help but think Dale has some “history” with the elf girl he runs into in town.

@Humbby I actually seem to have the opposite reaction. If I hear a lot of hype surrounding a series or I go into it with high expectations, I’ve noticed I tend to be less forgiving. One of the reasons I try not to read reviews until I’ve already started to form an opinion. @Muco I honestly didn’t think Black Clover was that bad. Even though I did drop it fairly early on, I actually think I might revisit it someday. The biggest obstacle is I tend to prefer series that just last a couple cours or at least give you a break in between to explore something different. Same reason I burned out on One Piece & Hunter x Hunter, but would like to get back into them someday.

My favorites among the currently airing series: Demon Slayer, Fruits Basket (2019), The Ones Within, If it’s for my Daughter I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord & Fire Force. For older series I’d prefer to know what kind of series you’re looking for. If you want general recommendations, see the favorites section of my profile.

I’m personally more inclined to check out a series based on what fellow forum members have to say about it than any sort of “professional” review or MAL rating (usually not a good indicator of whether I’ll enjoy a series). Really though the only way to know for sure is to invest the time to check out at least a couple episodes myself. Though watching the trailer/promotional videos can give an early impression. As far as series that exceed my expectations, right now that would be Naka no Hito Genome (The Ones Within). I had zero expectations for that one & it doesn’t seem to be getting any professional attention, but it’s my favorite of the new series for this season. I also prefer the dubbed version, which is unusual for me.

That was the direction I was hoping it would take as well, unfortunately the flirtatious manner of the new girl in episode 5 makes it feel like it’s going to turn into a harem. I may come back to it later, but gonna set it aside for now. If nothing else maybe try something on my PTW list.

There’s a lot of very talented & creative artists, cosplayers & people making AMVs. But as far as being a fan wanting to discuss & share their opinions on anime ... isn’t that what everyone on this forum is doing?

Cowboy Bebop. Yeah the ending of course. But for me the truly tragic character is Faye (clip is an AMV don’t watch unless you’re ok with possible spoilers.

Pretty sure the first murder happens fairly early in the series, but as a whole the series puts more emphasis on suspense than action. Monster does have chases, fist fights, shoot outs, prison breaks, etc. but it spends most of it’s time exploring psychological & ethical issues. If that sounds boring to you, it’s probably not what you’re looking for.

I got Hufflepuff, but only by a single point (54). Second was Ravenclaw (53). Pretty much the results I was expecting from the descriptions.

Up to episode 2 of season 2. Wow, didn’t take things long to get intense did it? Though I was a bit put off by how some scenes seemed to go straight from serious to silly

I keep hoping we’ll get a complete physical release of Monster here in the US someday
