  1. I just finished episode 3 of Sirius the Jaeger on Netflix. My initial impression was that it would be just your typical vampire hunter series, but Yuily's characterization already has me emotionally invested (the ED is particularly bittersweet once you realize what it represents). And in addition to incorporating vampires & werewolves, it seems like the Frankenstein mythos will also figure into things
  2. Mob Psycho 100 My Hero Academia Gurren Lagann 7 Deadly Sins
  3. I don't know about "best", just my personal preferences. I use a Roku Stick to stream to my tv (I don't really like watching on the smaller screen of a phone or my pc). I currently subscribe to CrunchyRoll. Funimation & Netflix. I used to subscribe to Hulu and may again depending on how things play out this year between Hulu, CR & Funi. I'll also occasionally use a site called TubiTV which has a selection of older series, some of which aren't found elsewhere (for example I used it to watch Accel World earlier this year). It's a legal streaming service that has a variety of content (not just anime). It uses ads instead of paid subscriptions, but most of it's content is older and not the best video/audio quality. I also have a significant collection of anime dvds I've accumulated over the past 25 years. While I don't buy nearly as many as I did before streaming, I still like to have a physical copy of titles I really enjoyed, not only to help support the industry but also you never know when I title might get taken down from a service & there have even been instances where they were edited/censored after the fact. Also. my personal preference is for the original language dialogue with subtitles, but there are a few titles out there I actually consider the dub to be as good or even better than the original.
  4. Some people actually prefer the original series which covers a lot of the same material, but with a different emphasis on certain events and the story winds up going in significantly different directions, so you might want to check out both. Personally, I preferred Brotherhood which is supposed to follow the manga more closely.
  5. Some similarities to series you mentioned: Monster; Code Geass; Ushio & Tora; Overlord; Claymore; Goblin Slayer; Broken Blade Some personal favorites/must sees: Cowboy Bebop; Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood; My Hero Academia; Trigun
  6. Just finished listening to the full version of the ED to Zombieland Saga. I still have no idea what they're saying, but gawd the harmonies are beautiful

  7. This: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2018-12-19/my-hero-academia-anime-season-4-reveals-october-premiere-1st-visual/.141015, though it will be a long wait. I don't mind the extra time though as long as it's an improvement over season 3, which had some awesome moments, but overall was kinda weak IMO. The only other series I can honestly say I'm really looking forward to is the continuation of Space Battleship Yamato 2202. I'm actually a bit apprehensive because I haven't seen where Funimation has officially confirmed that it will be resumed. I realized that they were going to have to put it on hiatus at some point until the final movies screened in Japan and just assumed they stopped at "episode 13", because it fit the usual format for a cour. However, I'd read an article on ANN that the Japanese company producing them was in financial trouble, and then the series got taken down from CR even though initially it sounded like they would continue to share the rights with Funi. Anyway, I hope at the very least Funi picks up where it left off sometime this coming year (fingers crossed). I'm sure I'll check out the new seasons of One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, Attack on Titan & Kakegurui (assuming that Netflix gets around to it in 2019) as well as the remake of Fruits Basket. As far as new shows, I don't really follow manga or LNs anymore so I don't have any real feel for what a show will be like until it airs. Besides, anticipation hasn't been a real good indicator for me, because of my Top 10 of 2018, only one was even on my radar back in 2017.
  8. I’m just gonna put out a couple more horror series I enjoyed somewhat. Devil Lady was a gender bent take on Go Nagai’s Devil Man series. It had some similarities to Witchblade, but was better IMO. Unfortunately I don’t think anyone has the US license anymore. Some of the stories in the Ghost Hunt series were pretty good. It’s probably more psychological than horror, but Satoshi Kon’s Paranoia Agent was excellent. Finally, Betterman wasn’t that good of a series and might not be actual horror but definitely had some creepy moments, especially with the little psychic girl doing the episode previews.
  9. Season 4 was disappointing to me as there were only six new episodes which were ok, but not great. I didn't even bother with the other six since they were apparently just rebroadcasts of episodes from past seasons. I did enjoy seasons 1 & 2 though.
  10. I gotta be me (no one else wanted the job) In all seriousness, I never pretend to be something I'm not, but a lot of things I don't show until I feel more comfortable.
  11. Yesterday's Golden Kamuy made up for a lot of the disappointment I felt with some of the other episodes this season. Can't wait for the finale next week

  12. Shiki would be my favorite with Hellsing Ultimate getting honorable mention.
  13. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. I LOVE several of CLAMP's series including CCS, so a crossover series starring teenaged representations of Sakura & Syaoran sounded like a dream come true. After slogging through 52 episodes and a handful of OVAs, I can't think of a single positive thing to say about it. Dull and uninteresting from beginning to end. I largely feel the same way about Clear Card. Though somewhat forewarned thanks to Tsubasa, it spent the majority of it's 22 episodes saying "Hey remember that time when <insert memorable moment from the original series>? Wasn't that cool?" While doing very little that was memorable or cool itself. And then at the end it was like "Oops, we're out of time. We'll need to have another season greenlit before we can finish the story." . They could've condensed the interesting parts into a 90 - 120 minute movie easily Also. PO'd is too strong a word, but despite enjoying Soul Eater quite a bit, it had one of the biggest anti-climaxes for an ending of any series I've seen. I get what they were trying to say with it, but still very unsatisfying for me, As far as something about the anime industry in general that pisses me off, it's when OVA/Specials don't get licensed despite the fact the series has been. Case in point, I don't usually resort to pirate sites, but for the My Hero Academia, Yuru Camp & Konosuba OVA/Specials, I made an exception. And I still would like to see them included on the physical releases (or a physical release at all for Konosuba & Yuru Camp)
  14. Last week's episode (11) didn't do a whole lot for me (despite Shion's hawhtness). But I really enjoyed this week's (episode 12) and am looking forward to the big battle. I totally hate Gabiru, though. Try to excuse it as pride all you want, he's still a jerk & an idiot. If he survives I hope he learns his lesson
  15. I got the same sort of vibe from Ulysses in the scene where
  16. When I do like an ecchi series, it’s usually because it’s lighthearted and comedic. If it takes the sex too seriously or is extremely violent, it’s a turnoff for me.
  17. I actually meant that Conception & Ulysses were terrible, Demon Lord was ok, as was Yuuna.
  18. I stayed with that one through episode 3 before dropping. I don’t just drop a series because it’s ecchi (I stuck with How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord till the end), but both of these were just terrible.
  19. I actually skidded on the deck when I let the dog out this morning (had a glaze of ice on it). Supposed to be sunny and get into the low 40s
  20. I watched the first episode and decided it was one of the worst anime I’d ever seen. One and done. Ironically there are a series of PlayStation games based on the same source material and according to CR it was the most watched anime of the season in Iraq & Syria https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-feature/2018/11/05-1/crunchyrolls-most-popular-fall-2018-anime-by-state-province-country
