I just finished episode 6. If you're expecting the edgy anti-hero promoted by fans of of light novels, you'd probably be dissapointed by the past couple eps. Personally, I don't mind it having more in common with How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord than Goblin Slayer. Though there are definitely indication of a larger more serious story as well. And how many eps do you think it will be before we find out that Spear Hero's miracle crop And on a side note, Filo's seiyu is the same as Millim from Reincarncated as a Slime

Welcome, Cypher. Hope you enjoy these forums as much as I do. Romance anime aren’t usually my thing but I enjoyed ReLIFE & Recoveryof an MMO Junkie recently. Kobato too For Space Operas, you might like Banner of the Stars if you haven’t seen it yet. Domestic Girlfriend is the closest I can think of

It's the combination of the two really, but since I always buy Double Stuff, I seem to have a preference for the filling I guess

Apparently Ebina was popular enough to get her own spin-off manga, though it only lasted two volumes. Don't know anything about it personally. https://myanimelist.net/manga/95652/Akita_Imokko_Ebina-chan From what I recall, the second season focused more on Umara's developing friendship with the other girls & she spent less time in hamster mode. But at the end of the day not what I would call a great deal of character development. So entertaining but not really special.

They actually made a second season. My motivation for sticking around was pretty much Ebina

Any recommendation for comedic anime?
Ohayotaku replied to Illusion of Terra's question in Recommendations
2nding Azumanga Daioh which is my all time favorite SoL series. And while they only have 12 or 13 episodes I would also highly recommend Yuru Camp & Flying Witch. Along the same lines is K-on! which has a couple seasons and a movie. And while I have't watched it yet, I've heard very good things about Non-non Biyori which I believe has a couple seasons. You might want to give Aria a try. It has three seasons (The Animation, The Natural & The Origination). While there is definitely some comedy to it, more than anything it's just a very calm & relaxing series. -

Sounds like Zatchbell. Coincidentally another poster was talking about that series not so long ago.

On a side note, since Boogiepop & Fruitsbasket have recently gotten more complete anime adaptions, I’m crossing my fingers Alita might get the same treatment someday
-
Alita was the first manga I really got into, so I’m definitlely seeing it in theaters. My biggest concern is that they will try to cram in too much material since they went from 3 movies to 1 (merging motorball into the original arc). I know pretty much that it won’t do the source material justice, but I hope they come up with something coherent and Hollywood doesn’t make it too similar to Hunger Games. They say the movie will be self contained but still leave room for possible future expansion, so wonder if we’ll possibly get a cameo by Desty Nova.

Temps in the 60s with thunderstorms developing. Localized flooding likely due to heavy rain & snowmelt. Overnight will become windy and drop into the 20s and not get out of them all day tomorrow. Just ... lovely

How Do You Keep Track of the Anime You're Watching/Have Watched?
Ohayotaku replied to Geano's topic in Anime Discussion
Pretty much the same here. Though I know there are dozens (probably over a hundred actually)series, OVAs and Specials I haven't added yet. One of of the things I don't like is it reliance on the original titles, though I am glad that if you search for the "Americanized" title, you'll usually come up with the correct one. And I understand why it's that way considering the site is used internationally -
rain with temps approaching 60

Good lord, how does Magical Girls Specs Op Asuka not warrant a content advisory?! It makes Goblin Slayer look like a Hallmark movie.

My view of things a month into the new season: Thoroughly enjoy every week: My Roommate is a Cat Enjoyable but variable week to week: That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime Mob Psycho 100 Series that have started to grow on me, despite having some issues with them: Kaguya-sama: Love is War Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka The Price of Smiles Girly Airforce The Quintessential Quintuplets Meiji Tokyo Renka Boogiepop & Others In decline or not living up to expectations; Hinomaru Sumo Gegege no Kitaro Rising of the Shield Hero The Promised Neverland Put on hold (if not dropped outright) Wattaten (An Angel Flew Down to Me) Endro Grimms Notes Oh, almost forgot: new weekly episodes of Space Battleship Yamato 2202 have resumed on Funimation

@Mongrel Slayers Try - afraid it's been a long time since I've watched it. If memory serves they are treated mainly as villains initially, but as the story progresses some of them become heroes. Jillas is the main one who comes to mind Inukai from Flying Witch - I think she was only the focus in a single episode, but made appearances in 3 or 4. Her appearance varies from fully canine to fully human and a transitional form depending on the time of day One more series I'll mention as a possibility is Ushio & Tora. Besides the secondary title character, there are a number of yokai with animal characteristics. Though it may be debatable whether his appearance is anthromorphic or demonic

Best New Anime of 2018
Ohayotaku commented on Yanushi-Chan's blog entry in The Inner Mind of a Fujoshi Otaku
The stand out series had to be A Place Further than the Universe & Yuru Camp for me. Other notables: Golden Kamuy, Megalobox, Planet With, & Asobi Asobase -
The closest match I can think of is Grimoire of Zero (not to be confused with Familiar of Zero) A Centaur's Life to variable extents Nanachi from Made in the Abyss might qualify but she's more of a chimera (a mixture of different animals & a human) Merle from Vision of Escaflowne Beastmen were pretty prominent in Slayers Try Inukai from Flying Witch, though the extent depends on the time of day The lizard men from Overlord season 2 (the first 4 eps or so focused almost entirely on their culture)& Reincarnated as a Slime Many yokai on Gegege no Kitaro have animal characteristics (Ratman & Catchick to a lesser extent but also characters like tengu & tanuki) Many more than I have time to list As much as there is often some animosity between "furries" and other "otaku", it's actually a fairly common trope in anime

Current Anime Addictions
Ohayotaku commented on Yanushi-Chan's blog entry in The Inner Mind of a Fujoshi Otaku
I think I made it to around episode 6 of Black Clover. While I'm not opposed to watching more or it someday, it's nowhere near the top of my list. It looks like most of the series you listed are isekai or at least fantasy world inspired. You might want to check out the currently airing Rise of the Shield Hero, though I have mixed feeling about it at the moment. The final season of Fairy Tail too. There's also Radiant, but I dropped it after about 3 episodes because it's pretty generic. Some older series I would recommend from the genre include: GATE, Claymore & Broken Blade. I haven't watched Saiki K, but seems to be a comedy with psychic powers, so maybe check out Mob Psycho 100, Hinamatsuri and Zombieland Saga. Finally, some personal recent faves that don't have much in common with the series you listed SoL/Healing: My Roommate is a Cat, Yuru Camp, A Place Further than the Universe, As Miss Beelzebub Likes Comedy/Parody: Asobi Asobase, Konosuba, Ms. Kobayashi's Dragonmaid Sports: Hinamaru Sumo, Megalobox Scifi: Space Battleship Yamato 2199 & 2202, Planet With Shonen: My Hero Academia, Ushio & Tora Romcom: Recovery of an MMO Junkie, ReLIFE (make sure to watch the OVA aka eps 14 - 17) Hard to classify: Golden Kamuy, Beautiful Bones
