    I've made a couple attempts to watch the series, but never made it past episode 6 of the first season, so finally gave up Agreed, though the ease with which the MC overcomes every obstacle is a detraction I'd initially written off the gratuitous violence for shock value, but for a while it seemed like they might actually do something meaningful with it. Unfortunately the past couple weeks have reinforced my original opinion. I'm enjoying this one, but largely on the strength of the supporting cast (Chika & Kaguya's maid) I dropped Alicization around episode 5. In truth I was never really a big fan of the franchise and am surprised I made it through the earlier seasons. The first episode got my attention, but afterwards I just didn't feel the suspense. It seemed to get better as they got closer to the actual escape & got a couple hints about the outside world. I'm hoping it will get more interesting once they escape. Unfortunately it looks like that will probably be where the season ends.

    I tend to like Guillermo del Toro's films, which tend to be pretty surreal (favorites include: Pan's Labyrinth, The Devil's Backbone & the original Hellboy). There's been talk of him wanting to do a live-action adaption of Naoki Urasawa's Monster for years. One thing that's pretty messed up about my taste in movies is that I actually prefer the American versions of The Ring (the first one anyway) and Let Me In (Let the Right One In) I also liked the Ginger Snaps movies

    As happy as I am to see an end to winter, I don't get that excited about spring. Around here it tends to be far too wet, turning anything that isn't paved into a mud pit. Plus the dampness makes it feel colder than the actual temperature. I don't usually get more active until summer. Though Autumn/Fall is my personal favorite of the seasons. Almost forgot, one thing I do like about Spring: Opening Day & the start of baseball season

    Actually I seem to remember a scene from Higurashi (When They Cry) that involved nails or tacks. I don't remember the details though

    Afraid neither is ringing any bells. The only giant carp I can think of is Pokemon :lol:. As far as the other one, the only suggestion I can think of is possibly Hellgirl. In both cases it's pretty much a blind guess, so don't put much stock in it. If you can think of any other details (time period, art style, character descriptions) it might give some better ideas.

    I guess the whole ‘I don’t trust nobody’ thing is supposed to make Naofumi seem like an antihero or badass or something but personally it’s what annoys me the most. Yes, some people are jerks but others have been grateful or at least willing to give him the benefit if the doubt. It should be pretty obvious there’s a conspiracy at work and a division in the royal family. If he could stop acting tsundere and hear Melty out, he might learn what it is.

    NEVER call a girl fat :lol: As funny as the segments with Filo and Spear Guy were, my favorite was probably the conclusion Naofumi & Raphti jumped to when they couldn’t find Melty. Easy to see why Naofumi’ s developing a reputation as a lolicon though.

      Thanks. My old one was a shout out to my first anime series lo these many years ago. While I’m not particularly a fan of DBZ, me and King Kai share a similar sense of humor (such as it is :p)

    Also speaks to the fact that for as long as it's been around and it's popularity, American companies still consider anime "kid's stuff"

      That's the demo they sell to.  Easy to get kids to nag their parents to buy them something.  Convincing the parents without getting the kids' help is a bit harder.  Same dynamic as breakfast cereal.  Or did you think they put cartoon characters on that brightly-colored box and toys inside for the adults?

      Sorry to see Crunchy caught up in this acquisition.  AT&T is slime.  They've been screwing their DSL customers for years with "unlimited" and "up to" bandwidth claims, their customer service is anything but, and lately they've even been hawking their old LTE hardware as "G5".  80 Billion-with-a-B dollars to buy (and probably ruin) media companies like Time Warner, but no money to upgrade their network infrastructure?

    Welcome. Yeah, season 2 has primarily emphasized the feels, but looks like the over-the-top psychedelic fight sequences are about to return in a big way. Have to admit the animation for episode 5 set the bar pretty high though. Both series are by ONE afterall.

    Baldr Force EXE came out in 2006 - 2007. I just finished re-watching the closing moments and it does have a computer virus taking the form of a little girl who keeps calling the MC "big brother" I also seem to remember the "rape" scene you were talking about, but it took place in cyberspace. The series is streaming on Funimation's site. Might be worth checking it out.

    So the girl with the wings turned out not to be what I was expecting (a bit too similar to Millim IMO). Some interesting information on Demon Lord Leon too. And the scenes of Ragna frolicking with the kids were just too cute :lol:

    I was definitely on edge waiting for episode 9 of Mob Psycho 100 season 2. Normally I watch Slime first on Mondays, but not this week

    It really depends on the individual, but the type of show can have an impact as well. Slice of Life and comedies don't usually have much of an over reaching storyline and I personally find it more enjoyable to to have those little half-hour oasis a time or two a week then bingeing them. If a series has a complex story or a lot of different characters' POV, it can be easier to follow if you watch it all in a short period of time. The only two series on my list that really seem to fall in that category for me are Boogiepop & Yamato 2202.

    I agree that I'm liking it better now than in the beginning. Currently it's probably my #2 of the season, though it's pretty much neck&neck with Reincarnated as a Slime. Shield Hero has more potential IMO though.
