  1. 100% agreement on all this As far as non-superhero comics, I used to really be into the Elfquest series back in the day. The Bone series and it's limited series side story Rose was pretty good too.
  2. Welcome. I've always been fascinated by animation, sadly I'm a terrible artist. Hope you enjoy your time here.
  3. Toonami is Cartoon Network's anime block airing on saturday nights/sunday mornings and all their anime is dubbed . Apparent;y there is some sort of agreement where they will get the dubbed episodes before anyone else at least in the US.
  4. I thought it was worth watching, but not as great as it was hyped to be. For me this is largely due to the fact that we still know very little about the world it takes place in, since the entire first season takes place in a single location. So I'm looking forward to finding out more in the second season, even though that won't be until sometime next year. One more piece of information: season one will start airing on Toonami/Adult Swim beginning April 13

Agreed on all accounts. While I watch more anime than anything, I'm a fan of animation in general & I enjoyed the movie enough to buy a copy.
  6. As someone who’s previously watched it, I think allayall are in for a treat
  7. I used to back in the 70s & 80s (still have most of them). Primarily the Spiderman & X-men related titles. My exposure to the DC heroes was primarily through tv & movies.
  8. The first season was definitely more psychlogical & less action oriented than AOT, but I actually get a similar vibe from the two. I have a feeling that may change in the second season(already confirmed for 2020). I also agree that it’s darker than Death Note where most characters die of heart attacks. Blood and gore is pretty minimal. Probably the most disturbing scenes for me didn’t have any actual blood
  9. I have a rather sizeable dvd collection, a lot of which is anime. Also a lot of video games. Also comic books from the late 70's through the early 90's, primarily Spiderman & X-men related titles. I still have a lot of the Star Wars action figures & toys from back in the late 70's early 80's. Finally I've also collected some memorabilia relating to the moon landing, since I was born a couple days afterwards.
  10. Eh, the trailer I watched didn't really do anything for me. But if it's on one of the sites I'm subscribed to I'll probably check out a couple episodes .
  11. I thought it looked like it. I've only seen the first season though
  12. I guess it could be considered as a “potentially” lesser evil than smoking cigarettes to people who are addicted, but that’s largely due to the fact that less in known about it’s health effects, especially long term. And I don’t like the idea of trying to market it to new users, especially younger ones.
  13. I think that was the woman who’s acting as the Queen’s messenger (not Melty). She’s appeared in a couple episodes, like the one where Naofumi & Filo raced Spear Hero. I really wonder what’s going on with her since she’s been keeping track of things, but keeps sending proxies. Also the source of the King’s grudge against the Shield Hero and demi-humans (though I would definitely say it’s personal now after that confrontation)
  14. Welcome, you came to the right place I'm not really a con goer on account of being older than your typical anime fan, but still enjoy it immensely. Hope you meet lots of people with shared interests.
  15. I don’t honestly understand why it’s supposed to be safer than cigarettes. It still has the addictive chemical (nicotine). It may not have the same chemicals as tobacco, but not regulated as heavily, so who knows what’s actually in them. Plus repeated reports of the devices catching fire or even blowing up in the users face. To me, it’s just companies making money off people by getting them addicted while arguing they’re being socially concious (safer than tobacco)
  16. Now it's officially spring

  17. I think Boruto is supposed to be Naruto's son. Not sure how much of the series focuses on their relationship though. Also, it's been awhile since I saw it but I think Captain Harlock - Endless Odyssey (titled Space Pirate Captain Herlock in the US) has the title character acting as a father figure to a boy after his father/grandfather is killed. The Boy & The Beast is a anime movie that focuses heavily on father/son relationships Though not actually related (as far as we know) My Hero Academia's Midoriya's relationship to All Might seems like father/son in many ways There's also the manga Lone Wolf & Cub, though in that series the son is still a infant/toddler
  18. My all-time favorite series. Don't actually consider it a space opera though. Those usually seem to have a grander and more epic scale, whereas the crew of the Bebop are just outcasts living on the fringes trying to figure out how to get rich or at least find their next meal, while dealing with the complications of their pasts another one of my all time favorites. It's actually very different from the original series, making it much more than just a remake. I actually burned out on the series fairly early into the Chimera Ant arc, but would like to revisit it someday Not sure if it's considered a classic or not. It's definitely different than your typical anime but I can see it not appealing to everyone. I enjoyed the original for it's quirky cast of characters but considered it's follow up (0) to be too heavy/depressing, even though the original had it's dark side as well. Haven't seen the movie yet, but just signed up for a free trial of Amazon Prime and it's on my list to watch before it runs out. Again, stands out as being different than most anime. Hope to have the opportunity to finish it someday. Personally I consider this one to be overrated. Would kinda like to check out the follow up movies, but not sure if I would want to rewatch the original series to refresh my memory. Meh. Not really sure if I finished this one or not, so obviously it didn't make much of an impression on me. Just not my thing. Another unique series I enjoyed and feel that it definitely deserves to be considered a classic. Not impressed by the various live action remakes/spin offs though and doubt I would ever rewatch. Haven't seen it and not real high on my list of prospects. Sincerely doubt it could ever dethrone Azumanga Daioh as my own personal GOAT SoL series
  19. Just watched the first 4 episodes of Dororo. Pretty good, but unlikely to overtake Shield Hero as my favorite for the season
  20. Not scheduled to start airing until April And not sure what sites will have it
  21. Preview of the 2nd cour(WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS) Looks like some flashbacks to Raphtailia's past before meeting Naofumi and the kingdom declares all out war on the Shield Hero And here I thought I coudln't be more HYPE
