  1. Hatori’s backstory is so sad, and Akito seems like a selfish b****. Even after getting a glimpse of how dysfunctional the Soma household is, Tohru retains her positive attitude and gives hope and comfort to those around her. Took some time to make the connection between Hatori’s cursed form and Didn’t comment on the previous week’s episode, but Tohru has a couple of true friends, concerned with her wellbeing but also trusting her judgement and supporting her decisions. Would’ve liked to see what they would’ve done to her cousin & aunt
  2. Sounds like the anime development is still in the early stages, but already interested since it sounds different than the typical isekai series

Did you watch the PV in the article? The MC’s design reminds me a bit of the MC of an older series called Petite Princess Yucie.

Yeah I watched the PV, that's also what seemed quite upbeat to me (I mean I didn't understand what they said, but I think I can guess some of it 😂). I don't know Petite Princess Yucie, but judging from a few youtube videos they do give off the same kind of vibe. It reminded me a bit of Cardcaptor Sakura :)

Yeah, Yucie is pretty light hearted, though there are some darker elements as foreshadowed by the opening scene. Still an overall feel-good series and sn under-appreciated one IMO

  3. Ass-ume you mean Keijo, the one about girls doing butt sumo (pun intended)
  4. <googles it> Ah, Big Wind Up. Heard of it but haven’t seen any of it. Until recently the only sports series I’d seen were Taisho Baseball Girls snd Battle Athletes (which hardly counts :P). But in the past 2 years I’ve watched and enjoyed to varying degrees: Megalobox, Hanebado, Hinomaru Sumo, Money Pitch, Harukana Receive and currently Mix & Cinderella Nine.
  5. Sorry, instinctive disclaimer from making recommendations on other sites to less experienced anime aficionados. Going off on something of a tangent, there’s a currently airing sports drama called Mix: Meisei Story that definitely has an oldschool feel to it, both in it’s visual and storytelling style. Wasn’t sure about staying with it, but the nostalgic feels seem to be winning me over. It’s supposed to be something of a sequel to a series called Touch I wasn’t familiar with. Of course baseball in general gives me a sense of nostalgia. Funny thing is until recently sports anime was one of my least favorite genres.
  6. They also added Legend of Black Heaven which I kind of enjoyed up till the conclusion anyway. Basically the MC was a somewhat successful rockstar in his youth, but is now a middle-aged salaryman in a thankless job and has a wife and young kid who don’t really seem to respect him anymore. One day he’s approached by an attractive and younger co-worker who claims to be an alien and that his music is the key to saving their civilization. Obviously a lot of humor and satire, but some feels as well. The biggest shortcoming I recall is that the art style was pretty dated.
  7. Crunchyroll had been adding a lot of older titles to their catalog the past couple weeks. One of their recent acquisitions was Kimagure Orange Road. I remember it being one of the “classic” titles people were talking about when I first got into anime on vhs. Also, Cosmo Warrior Zero appears to be another entry in the Leiji-verse. Added both to my bucketlist. I also remember watching Elemental Gelade (it was ok, but not anything special) https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/05/16-1/kimagure-orange-road-and-more-join-crunchyrolls-anime-catalog https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/05/15/crunchyroll-adds-eat-man-98-and-more-to-anime-catalog
  8. I’ll probably watch Thursday evening, but I’ll be ready to discuss Friday
  9. I think a big part of Spear’s problem is he sees himself as the gallant hero rescuing damsels in distress and making them swoon. I think Myne picked up that he was particularly gullible in this respect and used it not only in her own false accusations but also in convincing him that Raphtalia, Filo & Melty were being forced/controlled by Naofumi. Granted pretty much all guys (including Naofumi) are subject to that, but Spear seems to have a particular weakness for it as well as flattery.
  10. Not like the storyline was the actual selling point for that franchise anyway.
  11. Episode 19: while setting the stage for what has the makings to be an epic clash, the primary focus seemed to be on ironing out some of the rough spots with the story over the past couple weeks and it manages to do a decent job of it IMO.
  12. Next Thursday or Friday evening sounds good to me (Thursday is the one day of the week I don’t have a currently airing series, but I’ll have houseguests tomorrow through the weekend)
  13. No offense intended but Aw, hellz no
  14. Welcome, glad you found your way here. Just curious, is your name a Boogie Pop reference?
  15. Some other possibilities: Solty Rei, Baldr Force Exe, Caligula, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 & AD Police Case Files (also the original OVAs) Battle Angel, Dennoh Coil, GitS:Arise, Dimension W Movies: Expelled from Paradise, Paprika
  16. Will probably be at least next week for me, I’ve got a lot going on through the weekend.
  17. Despite some recent disappointments with the series, I try to keep an overall positive view on it, but saw a couple recent articles: The first says that there will be a 2 week delay on the english dub through the remainder of the season (article lists projected air dates for the dub). While that doesn’t affect me directly since I watch the sub, I know several people posting here watch the dub. So hate to be the bearer of bad news, but will make sure to spoiler wrap my commentary. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-05-15/the-rising-of-the-shield-hero-anime-english-dub-to-have-2-week-delay/.146704 The second article was this https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/05/14-1/makoto-takahashi-kaito-ishikawa-to-reprise-their-roles-in-the-spear-hero-drama-cd As if the idea of a series focusing on that tool Spear Hero wasn’t infuriating enough, that pic with Filo makes me want to . Can’t believe this is an actual thing, not doujinshi.
  18. Congrats on taking top score on my MCU quiz 🥇

      Awe, thanks!

  19. Unless you have a great deal of free time I would advise against HxH as it is not a short series. I watched to around episode 80 or so before putting it on hold. Not because it was bad, but because I burned out on it. Would like to resume it again someday, but takes a significant time commitment even being split into arcs. My own suggestions would be Mob Psycho II or Violet Evergarden. VE would be your best bet if you want something that is complete in a single cour and though definitely not shonen it does have some action sequences. I’m not as big a fan as some because I really enjoyed some episodes, but some did nothing for me. Still worth checking out IMO. As far as Mob Psycho, since you’re listing season 2, I assume you’ve already seen and enjoyed season 1. Season 2 seemed to dedicate more time to the feels aspect of the show, but there are still some mindblowingly animated fights. Of course not everything is resolved by it’s end, but no cliffhanger and it does feel like a satisfying chapter in the story.
  20. I’m really into the series visual style, especially it’s use of CGI, which I normally dislike. Also like the visual design for this weeks demon and the teeth gnashing was really creepy. I still have some issues with the narrative style though, especially the way it kept cutting into the action for something Tanjiro’s master said. A couple observations: I was surprised to see the number of phone/power lines in the city. I guess it does take the place in the Taisho era, but up to this point it seemed like earlier in history. And am I the only one who thinks this Muzan who’s going to be the main antagonist looks like Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal in the OP  https://kimetsu-no-yaiba.fandom.com/wiki/Muzan_Kibutsuji?file=Muzan.png
  21. Watched the first episode of Girl's Last Tour. Two little girl soldiers in a mini-tank exploring what appears to be a post-apocalyptic earth. Certainly not the usual set-up for a CGDCT SoL series
