  1. Looks like I was wrong about the Fruits Basket delay since I’m currently watching episode 9 on CR. Thought I would let you know personally since you were so looking forward to it. Sorry for the confusion

@Ohiotaku It's all good but thanks for telling me!! I'll watch it tonight. I was so tired last night I forgot all about it.

  2. Sorry, meant to reply to your welcome thread, but looks like I did a status update instead.  Guess my brains already checked out for the weekend.

Welcome. Glad you found this place and hope you find things that interest you.

I noticed your Chobits avatar, are you a fan of any other CLAMP series?

  3. Unfortunately it sounds like this will affect the streaming schedule as well https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/05/30/next-two-fruits-basket-episodes-delayed-due-to-french-open
  4. That was the tag attached, but it seemed a bit strange since most examples I’m aware of are a sort of reimagined Victorian England (Pricess Principal as an anime example) but Kabaneri has the distinct elements of Feudal Lords, Shogun and Bushido while keeping the common link of steam powered technology.
  5. The thing about the latest episode that I think may draw the ire of certain groups is the names Naofumi gives Myne/Malty, which here in the States anyway seems to have become the equivalent of “the n word” in offensiveness.
  6. I’m curious if there’s a term to describe eastern/oriental steampunk (which is usually England/European society). Reason I’m wpndering is I’ve recently watching Kabenari of the Iron Fortress and am trying to figure out how to describe it. Of course zombie apocalypse also applies, and I’m noticing some similarities to Attack on Titan & Kimetsu no Yaiba.
  7. I think a lot of it was the timing, because it debuted when the movement seemed at it’s peak (though the source material was much older, and from what I hear darker). And as I said they were already attacking other series as being misogynist. The irony being there were much worse offenders airing I couldn’t even make it past the first episode, but those series weren’t targeted.
  8. Before the first episode even aired there were people on other forums/message boards slamming the series as glorifying slavery and misogyny. Many of them even admitting they hadn’t seen or read any of the material, but they didn’t need to because “they’d heard about it”. And after the first ep there were those saying that Myne’s actions were meant to discredit the metoo movement. Of course Goblinslayer & SAO Alicization got some flack beforehand. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to look hard to find examples of women being mistreated or treated as objects in anime, but these sort of blanket condemnations do more harm than good imo.
  9. I’ve read a number of comments on other forums detailing how the anime has been toned down. While it’s certainly a valid complaint considering it’s darker tone distinguishes it from other series, I personally don’t think I would continue watching if it was much darker. While I’m not against series that make me uncomfortable at times, in recent years I need to balance it out with lighter fare to keep from getting too depressed. (Tangent: I haven’t read the Attack on Titan manga, but if the anime ends the way I suspect it will, I’ll need to pull a cgdct series out of my backlog pile ) Thanks for the input on Rezero & Tanya. Honestly neither sounded that appealing to me initially, but after watching IQ I’m at least curious enough to give them a try. Of course since IQ is a parody of those series, I could very well wind up dropping them. For what it’s worth, I thought Tanya’s set up for arriving in the IQ world was the best.
  10. Even though I enjoy Konosuba, I get what you’re saying about it being overhyped. Whenever I’ve tried to analyze why I like it as much as I do, I’m unable to come up with a satisfying answer (the only thing that really stands out about the series is how the main characters are jerks to each other most of the time ) Also agree that Overlord is the most refreshing reimagined as a parody/comedy considering how dark and down right disturbing the main series can get at times. I haven’t seen Tanya the Evil or Rezero but still seem to get the gist of the jokes and definitely want to watch them now.
  11. I’m loving this series since it provides some much needed weekly laughs. I still want another season of Konosuba (and hope the movie makes it to the US), but this is a good stop-gap. I haven’t seen Rezero or Tanya the Evil yet, but have added them to my plan to watch list. Albedo and Aqua have probably provided the most laughs so far for me, but we need more Megumin & Demiurge. Though my favorite line has to be “even the skeleton guy has a harem” Looks like someone finally did subtitles for the OP & ED And yes, yesterday’s episode was one of the best
  12. Apparently tornadoes did some pretty serious damage North of me last night. Had no idea till I turned on the news this morning. Fortunately doesn’t sound luke many injuries

Like I said, I wasn’t even aware of it. I’ve been lucky that those sort of things are generally north of where I live. Feel for the people caught up in it though. So far only 1 fatality but say it will take days to fully evaluate the damage.

Are there more people here from Ohio or Kansas? HanaApril was from Kansas I think but she's not active here anymore unfortunately. I also remember that there was someone else from Ohio wasn't there? Glad to see that it wasn't in your area though

  13. At the start of the ep Kyo comments that Tohru seems to look at the world differently than most people, but as the episode progresses he & Yuki come to realize that at least part of it is just putting on a brave face so others don’t worry. And just like the episode where she returned to her grandfather’s house, the point is made that concepts like “family” and “home” aren’t just matters of bloodline. And I can certainly attest to the fact that holidays aren’t the same since both my parents passed. Have to believe there will be repercussions for Yuki snubbing Akito, but as Shigure notes, it’s her own fault for the hateful way she treats everyone. On a completely different note, damm Hanajma is sexy, but Uo’s not bad either.

  15. Welcome, hope you find enough here that catches your interest to stick around. You say you don’t have a favorite anime, but maybe list some you enjoyed to help find people with common interests.
  16. Are we going to post our thoughts on Summer Wars here or create a new thread/topic for it?
  17. It’s a bit early for my monthly update, but with the season half over I’ve already made up my mind about which series I’m staying with (the order they’re listed in is pretty much how enjoyable I find them) The Rising of the Shield Hero Fruits Basket (2019) Dororo Attack on Titan (S3, Pt2) Isekai Quartet Gegege no Kitaro Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) One Punch Man (S2) Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu We Never Learn Mix: Meisei Story Cinderella Nine Midnight Occult Civil Servants Senryu Girl Still planning to watch at least a couple episodes of Sarazanmai. Will either binge or drop based on the impression it makes. Also hoping to finish Girl’s Last Tour and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress by the end of June since I probably won’t renew Prime.
  18. I think the scene with the Queen was meant to be dramatic to show that she was done sitting on the sidelines and was going to be going in at the head of her army . As far as Naofumi not acting happy to see her, I imagine his first words will be “WTF took you so long?!” Plus to my eyes she looked a lot like Malty/Myne. I’m pretty sure that Raphtalia being cursed earlier was a result of touching Naofumi when he was in rage mode not the Zombie Dragon, but I expect the church members would gave some holy water in reserve and will be more co-opeartive now if they don’t want to be treated as traitors to the the throne or share the same fate as thr Pope
  19. My most common greeting is probably just “hey” though tone and inflection can depend on how familiar I am with the person and the situation. I’ve lived my entire life in southern Ohio though both my parents came from rural Kentucky, so it is reflected in some of my pronunciations and expressions (yeah for yes, brawrrbfor briar, rassl’n for wrestling). As for as uncommon words I use a lot, probably “reckon”. Also have a tendency to use “well” or “huh” as place holder words (as opposed to uhh or umm) as well as expressions of various emotions depending on tone & inflection. Talking with relatives on the phone I notice the same tendencies. As far as what people have said, I’ve been told I sound like I’m from Kentucky but a few gave said Montana (so I’m guessing the best description would be “country”)
