  1. I'm very much new here. I would greatly appreciate it if people showed me the ropes. Nice to meet you all! I'm actually not new, I just feel new cuz I haven't logged on in like, 2 years.

  3. Hi hi! Welcome back I actually am new and will happily say this forum is nicely active. I've had those moments jumping back into a forum. Its neat to see the changes with the community and potentially run into the friends you've made in the past hopefully your return will be a positive experience.

  4. I would take any job opportunity that allows me to travel. I'd say go for it! Especially if you have the stability to take it. Also, from most work transfers I've seen, they usually hook you up with someone to teach you basic language or customs. But, from hearing experiences from friends who have travelled to teach English in Japan and in Korea. I do have a friend who was a chef in China and they did the same for her. Basic language. That being said, because I'm such a cool weeb *sarcasm*, I did take some Japanese in uni and there are a lot of resources to assist you in learning the language - vocally, but yes kanji would be the hardest hurdle which I wouldn't even tackle as most things have their hiragana written near it anyway. (Generally it takes about a year to learn decent cursory Japanese so don't feel to worried it looks more intimidating until you dive in)...AND there are phone apps that do a cursory translation via your phones camera. I would want to stay in Japan long enough to feel like I've delved into the culture a bit more. So quick vacays I think wouldn't be enough for me. Also its hella pricey to say the least. But, with a job lined up and hopefully some assistance with finding somewhere to stay I'd totally jump on it. I would be concerned about sticking out is all, as mentioned already I'd also want to visit an onsen and have a tattoo, so there is the risk of standing out (although there are a few that don't care at all about tattoos). My one friend who moved to Canada from Japan said she would always get stared at or almost bullied because she dyes her hair red. There are some plus and some negatives to any place though. And...if your a boy and tall you'll probably get asked to get your photo taken with strangers a lot hehe. Still, carpe diem might as well take the opportunity if nothings holding you back.

  8. Unfortunately for me, the virus has already reached my area. I've already stocked up on things that would definitely be wiped from the shelves once panic starts kicking in like food and such. Now, all I need to do is isolate myself from society by living in my room until the vaccine arrives. Just like a normal day. Yes, I do have toilet paper.

  10. I really enjoyed the 1st Season & I love the fact that there was SO much suspense with no jumpscares or even showing the demons very much. There was authentic tension in every episode & my stomach was in knots the whole time. Norman is the GOAT in my opinion but I also like Emma, Ray, & Phil. Seriously, Phil is just too adorable! I'm looking forward to Season 2!

  13. I'm actually very surprised that the forum remained active for a veeeery long time. As one of the veterans(if I can even call myself that), it brings a tear to my eyes. I also love that this is still here, because I'm the one that requested this.

  14. LOL....I'm such an opposite from everyone here. I have a love/hate relationship with social media. I mean this forum is a form of social media on its own (a form of communication in a social setting). My love - I can keep in touch with people I no longer am geographically close to. It makes group chats with friends and/business a lot quicker and more effective/efficient IF you know how to use it and have everyone on the same page/respect being open about communication with those who don't use it. (I only use WhatsApp to write people now as no one really texts me except 3 people) and no one calls anymore unless its my dad ^^; I like cute filters and playing around with certain apps with my friends. And I enjoy Instagram as I place a lot of art on it and can get a wider range of feedback from people and have the ability to search other things. It makes us more globally aware and open to seeing more. (Con of this, is obviously certain things can be staged and create false advertising or more body image/shaming issues - but also has the power to do the exact opposite and create inspiration). I also am a twitch streamer and enjoy talking to random people on a daily basis! I think its so neat to talk to people of such varying backgrounds. My hate of it though....it can cause a lot of stress, it can create a lot of distance for people in relationships, it creates a worse sense of needing that immediate response from the world and can make you feel even more insignificant in a depressing way. Its also really easy to hurt people with or be hurt from. Tbh its a scary thought thinking of raising children with social media being so prevalent. As for your question about leaving it. I've lost and broken my phone and have gone without a computer for weeks and months. Its actually really relieving not being accessible to people and having a break. But, because its around me so much, I so noticed its absence and also have to let my friends be aware I am sans social media so they can still contact me or people think you're angry at them or avoiding them. To many pro and cons haha

  15. The ā€œnewsā€ reporting is not useful. Even by their own alarmist standards theyā€™re not even doing their reporting right. For instance, according to the CDC regular old H1N1 has already killed 136 children so far this flu season. You would think theyā€™d be all over that. Apparently they donā€™t care. (Or worse, they donā€™t even know.. this info is in the CDCā€™s usual weekly reports, available to all on their web page.) They would rather report on toilet paper shortages. Iā€™d ask my dog for advice before Iā€™d listen to anyone on the ā€œnewsā€.

  16. well if you're reading this imma tell you a story of my life about my friends when i was in middle school I have a lot of friends , i can list my friends in each year and it changes a lot In 6th grade my friends were , Morgan ļ¼Œkennedy , Jael, Jennifer, Eshal , Alexandra and Queen But it's not like that seventh grade ... Jael got homeschooled so left us, Jennifer got put in another class and stopped interacting with us , and i made a lot of new friends too such as , Summayya, Dijla ,Kaniz,Rewale and Khadijah . They were precious to me and so , i hang out with them Now for eighth grade my friends were about the same but My Bff morgan and kennedy moved ....... i missed them a lot but we stayed in contract ,and i also made new friends ,Sena , Shena, Allison , Anneh , and Malaika. They're good friend of mine , plus i met most of them because we all went to orchestra. Also just saying , tell your friends you're grateful for them now cause they might be gone next minute and you're regret it , that's why i don't want to lose any of my friends. Also because of my friends they got me to likke anime and drawing just lie me . They encourage me and tell me positive words, so i'll do more for them too

  17. Its a fair point - acknowledge and appreciate the people who are around you. However, also recognize if something goes wrong, to still cherish the good memories and not let them eat away at you and prevent you from building new relationships. A lot can happen with friends, gain as much as you can and build yourself in the process. this is a happy post though, I'm happy for you to have such awesome people in your life.

  18. I adore Black Clover but I agree that Asta is just too much sometimes. It's like my goodness, must you be so loud my good Sir? Other than that I think it's fantastic. Yami is hands down my favorite Captain & I love how much we get to know about each member of the Black Bulls as the show progresses. I finished the most recent episode a little over a week ago & can't wait for the next season.

  19. I'm currently home with a cold =3= just going through more of my past pictures to post and watching Mia Maples on Youtube, because her mom and daughter videos are cute and funny. These pastel works are older, I haven't really tried pasteling in awhile....but I have some velour paper I use to color on, and some rough drafts for the picture itself. This is a kinkajous and panda.. what are some animals you love? Pastelling is really forgiving, I like to use oil pastels because it looks almost like paint when its complete. You have more control over your colors and blending is very easy and there is no drying time needed. You do have to be careful with the paper because you don't want to indent it and create crease lines. You can also use pencil crayons for details like hair/fur/whiskers/eyes...(pencil crayons like prismacolor). Anyways enjoy the video haha

  22. I will definitely be visiting at some point but the cost of living is so much higher than where I currently live that it just doesn't seem feasible. But if I could make the type of income that would allow me to live comfortably then I'd absolutely love to move to Japan!

  24. I will honestly say I didn't expect much from this one but it quick;y turned into my favorite anime this season. I love the characters. I love the comedy. It looks great as well. I ship both couples and I love Kanade-chan too. I hope she also finds her true love!

  26. Oh, I really didn't pick up on that French and cheese thing completely went over my head, but yeah, makes sense

  27. I think the whole thing about cheese was supposed to be a stereotypical joke about him being part French (actually his whole character seems that way). It seemed like they were trying to make him more tragic by revealing that his quirk actually damages his body & he has to wear that belt at all times, but the other aspects are just so goofy it had no impact (for me anyway)

  28. I wouldn't worry too much about the language barrier as I know people who been to Japan and hardly knew the language and managed to navigate just fine English is up there as among one of the most spoken languages in the world and for many others is a second. If many tourists go to particular spots there is a good chance for there to be someone who can help you.

  29. For the trivial pursuit fans out there... I just realized. That computer in the background behind Yukimura's head? The desktop looks a lot like Canonical's Unity desktop that came with Ubuntu's linux (among others) up until ca. 16.04. Ubuntu installs > 16 have switched to gnome by default, but Unity was my desktop for several years before they made the change so it was pretty obvious what the animators were basing their desktop on once I noticed. Compare... to.. (latter from wikipedia ) The background wallpaper is a different color, but if you look at the icons in the dock down the left side of the screen they bear a strong resemblance to your typical gnome user's dock. Especially the"swirly" (dash launcher) icon in the upper left corner of the screen is a giveaway. Even now Ubuntu is still using that 3-lobed circle thingy prominently in their logo. The other icons look very much like (now) LibreOffice's icons for their suite of spreadsheet, text editor, drawing, and presentation programs that also typically get installed by default on Ubuntu linux. Sorry, I just had to mention this once I noticed. Carry on...

  30. I was actually going to make a topic asking about this anime. I was on Youtube last night and I was checking out different anime openings and I ended up watching some of the Black Clover openings. I thought it looked pretty cool. I might watch a few episodes just to see if I like it or not.

  31. I come from a culture of people that have been thinking in exactly that way even before the internet. People trying to tell me how work at a university really works (when I'm the one working there, while they have never worked there or have any other connection to it) for example. I usually don't mind as long as the subjects are harmless and it remains just talk. I've heard some of the stupidest things over the course of many years. But I find that mostly people don't necessarily claim things because they know them to be true or are absolutely convinced of them. It seems to have much more of a social function. Trying to show off that you allegedly know so much, undermining others because you dislike them, sometimes just making small talk etc. This can be annoying at times but personally I don't mind as long as it's not constantly the case. BUT if its about something really important or will definitely lead to actions, then I think it's necessary to make sure people know what they are talking about. If it's about say whether or not someone should drink when pregnant, then I think people should really take a second before saying something. What you say can impact others and change how they act. In these cases you should be certain that what you say is correct and well thought out. It's not enough to "know someone who did this too and their kid turned out fine, so go ahead have a shot or two". 'Annoying' would be a gross understatement in these cases for me.

  32. I don't know, man, that seems to be a problem nowadays. I don't know how old you are, but it seems like the younger folks can't take constructive criticism anymore. If you're doing something that only affects you, okay, but if you're doing something that could potentially affect and/or harm others, and you won't follow the proper advice, then we got a problem.

  34. I finished Planet Nomads a while back but I felt I had to replay it "to do it right". Kind of an OCD thing I do occasionally. But then I went off and built a flying houseboat base lab thing for no plausible reason.
