Loving your new avi
-
Temps got up to 76F today. So of course I had to mow for the first time this season.
-
Numerous titles have just vanished from Crunchyroll. The one that got my attention was Witch From Mercury that I just watched last night. Checking out their forums, it seems to be a widespread problem

Ever since the Funi merger, the site just keeps getting buggier Hopefully they’ll fix the current issue soon. And they better have their sh** together this weekend when new eps of MHA & SxF are scheduled or they’ll have a lot of seriously PO’d customers.
-
When I first signed up at CR, the Funi merger had been underway for maybe a couple months before that point. I felt like there were a lot of titles they should have already had up there from Funi. I don't know how long it takes to transfer video and data from one location to another, but you'd think as big an operation they have it wouldn't take quite that long. Again, I'm not familiar with what goes on or what's involved in such an operation server-side, so maybe it does. I dunno.
-
I’ve had both CR & Funi for a couple years (my Funi was an annual subscription & I don’t plan on renewing). Both sites have had their share of problems, but Funi’s was definitely worse. Unfortunately, since the merger CR seems to have caught some of it’s bugs. Delays don’t really bother me ( if it came down to it my backlog would easily last a year ) But issues like titles disappearing within days of release or missing subtitles or pixelated video get on my nerves. Still feel like I get my moneys worth, but frustrating when supposed “progress” or “improvements” seem to make things worse.

Looking at your banner, thinking you might be checking out Bofuri?

Crunchyroll is shutting down it’s forum boards at the end of the month https://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-1076682/forum-legacy-features-going-away-on-november-1st-2022
I rarely participated there except for the seasonal & annual awards threads, but will miss it. Increasingly forums seem to be a dying breed with people more interested in Discord & Twitch, and other social media options.
Please note, this will not impact it’s streaming service, though they apparently will launch an updated site. Hopefully they’ll get some of the recent bugs resolved.

The big tech companies are also known to be unscrupulous with their unethical handling of user data. Most people are unfortunately not able to make the connection of how this effects them and they casually dismiss it by telling themselves that they have nothing dodgy to hide. Nobody ever went broke by underestimating the intellect of the public. User privacy and freedom of expression in the digital age is the most underrated issue of our time. Forgive me for going full Dale Gribble, I had to say that.

Yesterday was Fat Tuesday, so guess that makes today Ash Wednesday
-
Apparently tornadoes did some pretty serious damage North of me last night. Had no idea till I turned on the news this morning. Fortunately doesn’t sound luke many injuries
-
I was kinda confused by the ending scene of Deca Dence’s first ep. Just watched the second & completely changes your expectations for what it will be about. Don’t know how much potential it will actually fulfill, but could really be something special.
-
@giolaxone Basic set up is 90% of the human population is wiped out & the earth is now a wasteland filled with all sorts of mutated monsters. Survivors live in a giant mobile fortress. The MC is an orphan who wanted to join military because her dad was killed by monsters, but was rejected because she lost an arm in the attack.
But then the 2nd ep shows an entirely unexpected side to the story (in a down the rabbit hole sense). Still a lot of questions about what’s actually going on & unknown how well it will be able to tie it all altogether. But definitely got a lot of peoples attention. And it’s the same director as Mob Psycho & production company as Yojo Senki (Tanya the Evil) so definitely has potential to be really special.

Had trouble going to bed at a decent hour last night and then had to wake up when it was still pitch dark outside. Thanks, time change
-
Trying to ID your avi. Is she from Strawberry Panic?
-
@Ohayotaku Yes she is! Shizuma Hanazono. One of the main characters in the series.
-
@Ohayotaku Right. Last time I watched it I believe I was still in school. I remember binge watching the entire series with my best friend; sitting on my bed. Would have to take a couple bathroom breaks and get snacks but otherwise my entire weekend was spent watching that series, lol. I miss those times honestly.

Welcome back
Noticed Fruits Basket on your favorite list & wondered if you’d watched the remake yet. Hands down the must emotionally powerful series I’ve seen.
edit: meant to post this as a comment on your intro topic, but looks like I posted as a status instead. Sorry
-
Thank you! ♡
Furuba will forever be a favorite of mine and I am delighted the series had a remake!
The Fruits Basket team outdid themselves. You can tell they studied the original and applied the improvements the show needed.
I enjoyed being able to connect with every character and feel for them. I cried like the flower I am and enjoyed the final Fruits Basket journey. I will always hope they make a movie with the characters 5 years or something later. Idk. -
I’m more of a shrub than a flower, but I admit to being moved to tears numerous times over it’s three year run (and I’m not personally a fan of most HS melodramas, but this one really knew how to connect with the characters).
They are going to adapt Tohru’s parents backstory but not sure if it will be a full season, a movie or an OVA. So a follow up is still possible

Woke up to about a foot of snow that fell overnight. Think it’s the most we’ve had in at least 6 years. Fortunately it’s not that cold (mid-20s)
-
Better start getting acquainted with Isekai Quartet and it’s related series as it’s apparently been confirmed on the japanese Twitter page
-
The thaw begins
-
Saga of Tanya the Evil episode 8. In many ways felt like the culmination of the series primary theme: The capability of humans to rationalize “inhuman” behavior.
-
Should be able to finish it today before moving onto the movie. Honestly I don’t find Tanya’s behavior nearly as disturbing as Ainz in Overlord
torturing people to death just to resurrect them & do it again and then use what’s left to create undead soldiers. There’s the possibility that they may just be characters in the game, but as much time as the series spends on developing them, still makes me cringe every time it happens
-
Thanks for the follow
-
I actually haven’t “followed” anyone yet. I don’t react to posts as often as I probably should either. Blame it on the fact I’m not normally a social media person. No Facebook, Twitter or Reddit account, just a couple other otaku interest forums, that I rarely post on. This place is clearly my “online home”. I’ll try to do better.

Liking the new avi
-
It looks good at smaller sizes. Above icon scale it gets a little blurry. I like Taurus though. Maybe I'll try to sharpen it a bit if I get a chance.
Or I could go back to the other Taurus I have:
I think I had that one before Hachirota. Also in the running are iconified versions of these..
No idea where I got them though. I just like the looks.
-
I get the distinct impression that isekai series aren’t even trying to be taken seriously anymore
-
What is the red haired girl doing? Is that a dab or what
Well seriously tho, the genre itself was never really serious. Only a little bit serious one atop all of these Isekai anime that came out lately is The Shield Hero. (although with 3 female party members...it's not really trying to distinguish itself from the usual isekai anime with these harem elements)
-
Temps got into the mid 50s today, so did what will probably be the last of the end of season yard work. Perfect timing as it started raining just as I was wrapping up. Now just hope we don’t get a lot of ice & snow this winter.
-
Congrats on top score for my MCU quiz. It would take a perfect score now to take that spot.
-
So no season 2, that’s a relief https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-12-09/netflix-cancels-live-action-cowboy-bebop-show/.180460
Hopefully they’ll rethink their other live action adaptions
-
Ed actually did make an appearance right at the end & it was so bad I honestly wish they’d left her out altogether. Over the course of it’s run, it managed to **** on everything I loved about the original. Thing of it is, if they’re going to insist on making live action versions of anime (which I personally don’t see the point in) Cowboy Bebop should have been one of the easier series to adapt. No way in hell they’re going to pull off One Piece’s devil fruit powers without a massive CG animation budget. And if they leave them out, it won’t be One Piece. Just a terrible idea.
-
Up on Netflix this morning
-
@efaardvark Through episode 4 he’s still his own worst enemy Though I can sympathize with his experience with coffee (figured out a long time ago it wasn’t for me).
-
Definitely plan on checking this out this evening (assuming the power doesn’t get knocked out by the predicted storms)
-
@Ohayotaku Definitely.
As as aside, Crunchy really, really, REALLY needs to work on their site. According to Crunchy's bizarre presentation this is going to be "season 16". WTF???
-

Didn’t get to watch anime over the weekend, because I was on a roadtrip, so I still need to catch up on spring season anime. Fortunately the new seasons always start out slow.
