What anime are you watching now?

Finished Orb: On the Movements of the Earth. I feel like the series peaked during the Oczy/Badeni/Jolenta arc. But honestly regret watching the final 2 episodes which were WTF & just felt pretentious & tedious.

This anime is family friendly and very funny!
I didn't think this show would be good (it was a recommendation) since it looked too silly
I ended up falling in love with this show and enjoying the princess and her antics.

@rayanwatts
To add onto the list from
Ohayotaku post.
Black Clover is also a good series (although plenty of fillers).

The era is of olden time and it's about magic. They go to school, get into guilds, etc.

Of course, not many shows have the same feel of MHA.

Interesting, does anybody wanna talk about MHA?

You planning to watch the Vigilantes spin-off when it starts next month? (I am). And obviously looking forward to the final season later this year.

I’ve had the Sailor Moon Crystal opening relentlessly stuck in my head all day because that’s the last show we watched before bed last night.

I am watching DAN DA DAN because it was recommended from a good friend. I am on the third episode. I have no opinion whatsoever at this time.

EDIT: I dropped it. It’s just not for me.

Kotaro Lives Alone

If you enjoy it I recommend checking out The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons as one of the brothers is very similar to Kotaro. It ‘s a slice of life about 4 brother’s whose parents have passed away. It’s not as heavy as Kotaro, but still has lots of emotional moments along with the humor.

I've just finished watching Sword Art Online: Alicization. Which was a bit of a marathon. Overall I thought it a fairly good series, but it had some parts which really started to annoy me and there were occasions when I almost gave up and went to watch something else, but I stayed with it to the end and I'm glad I did.

A Sign of Affection - Not sure that I will finished watching it because I felt a little bored with it already.

It's certainly a slow-burn sort of series. What I liked about it was the sensitive way they portrayed Yuki's deafness and how she coped with being deaf and Itsuomi's response to her condition. What I also liked was that we could "hear" Yuki's thoughts about what was happening around her. I have a friend who is deaf so I guess I appreciated the series more because of that.

Finished the second season of Solo Leveling last night. Exceptional anime for the genre that it is, in my opinion. The signs are there for the direction the plot will take in season 3 and I'm definitely here for it. Now Fire Force season 3 is right around the corner.

I just started it & through the first 3 episodes.

The ability to summon armies of shadow warriors certainly elevates  the fights to another level. And the return of Jinwoo’s dad is certainly an interesting development

If you're enjoying the second season so far, then it's only going to get better for you from here on out.

Spoiler

When you finish it I'll give you my predictions on how I think his dad's character is going to tie in later. The pacing of certain developments has been better than I originally thought they would.

Rewatching Planetes.  Lately I haven't been feeling anime.  These days everything is fantasy isekai and half of it seems a remake of last season's themes.  I'm more the science fiction type so its all pretty repetitive and boring to me.  I thought maybe I was drifting away from anime in general so I decided I'd try something I liked from previous years to see if it's just me or if it's modern anime that's the problem.  Turns out I still like this show.  Make of that what you will.  Currently thinking I should make a list of older stuff to work through and ignore the new releases for a few seasons.

Finished the 2nd season of Solo Leveling. Improved on season 1 in every way. Actually hyped to find out what happens next & hope another season is announced soon.

Also finished Hanako -kun season 2. Had a very different feel from the 1st as over half of it was a single storyline. Not really any new revelations about Hanako-kun’s past life, but a major reveal that impacts everything going forward. Season 3 has already been announced.

Going to try to wrap up the Winter 2025 season over the weekend by finishing Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf & getting current on Apothecary Diaries.

So what anime are you watching at the moment?

For me it's Psycho-Pass. I'm loving it so much! It's a Sci-Fi detective thriller but It's quite deep, alongside the depth and action of Ghost in the Shell. And Shakespeare, lots of references to English literature!

How about you? ^_^

A good series that I've watched several times. I've also watched the movie a few times but have never managed to get my head round what's going on in it. Part of me thinks it's a misguided attempt to keep the franchise going beyond its natural length.
