What anime are you watching now?

I've just finished watching Sword Art Online: Alicization. Which was a bit of a marathon. Overall I thought it a fairly good series, but it had some parts which really started to annoy me and there were occasions when I almost gave up and went to watch something else, but I stayed with it to the end and I'm glad I did.

A Sign of Affection - Not sure that I will finished watching it because I felt a little bored with it already.

It's certainly a slow-burn sort of series. What I liked about it was the sensitive way they portrayed Yuki's deafness and how she coped with being deaf and Itsuomi's response to her condition. What I also liked was that we could "hear" Yuki's thoughts about what was happening around her. I have a friend who is deaf so I guess I appreciated the series more because of that.

That's a great series. I liked it soooo much that I bought the Blu-ray box set.

It’s been a couple days because we have company, but the last anime we watched was the first episode of Gintama. No opinions yet, but we’ll watch some more of it when we have the time.

Finished the second season of Solo Leveling last night. Exceptional anime for the genre that it is, in my opinion. The signs are there for the direction the plot will take in season 3 and I'm definitely here for it. Now Fire Force season 3 is right around the corner.

I just started it & through the first 3 episodes.

The ability to summon armies of shadow warriors certainly elevates  the fights to another level. And the return of Jinwoo’s dad is certainly an interesting development

If you're enjoying the second season so far, then it's only going to get better for you from here on out.

Spoiler

When you finish it I'll give you my predictions on how I think his dad's character is going to tie in later. The pacing of certain developments has been better than I originally thought they would.

Rewatching Planetes.  Lately I haven't been feeling anime.  These days everything is fantasy isekai and half of it seems a remake of last season's themes.  I'm more the science fiction type so its all pretty repetitive and boring to me.  I thought maybe I was drifting away from anime in general so I decided I'd try something I liked from previous years to see if it's just me or if it's modern anime that's the problem.  Turns out I still like this show.  Make of that what you will.  Currently thinking I should make a list of older stuff to work through and ignore the new releases for a few seasons.

Finished the 2nd season of Solo Leveling. Improved on season 1 in every way. Actually hyped to find out what happens next & hope another season is announced soon.

Also finished Hanako -kun season 2. Had a very different feel from the 1st as over half of it was a single storyline. Not really any new revelations about Hanako-kun’s past life, but a major reveal that impacts everything going forward. Season 3 has already been announced.

Going to try to wrap up the Winter 2025 season over the weekend by finishing Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf & getting current on Apothecary Diaries.

So what anime are you watching at the moment?

For me it's Psycho-Pass. I'm loving it so much! It's a Sci-Fi detective thriller but It's quite deep, alongside the depth and action of Ghost in the Shell. And Shakespeare, lots of references to English literature!

How about you? ^_^

A good series that I've watched several times. I've also watched the movie a few times but have never managed to get my head round what's going on in it. Part of me thinks it's a misguided attempt to keep the franchise going beyond its natural length.

We’ve been slowly working our way through Basilisk lately and it is absolutely becoming one of my favourite anime.
We’re also finished with season 1 of Sailor Moon Crystal, and have been watching the third season of Food Wars

Yesterday was kind of a CGDCT bonanza as I watched the premiere episodes of Mono (from the creator of Yuru Camp), Food for the Soul (from the creator of Non Non Biyori) & Zatsu Tabi. Intend to apply the 3 episode rule, but likely I’ll drop at least 1 of them.  First impression is Mono is the likely drop.

Also watched the 1st of 6 shorts from Lycoris Recoil. At just 2 minutes, didn’t really offer much. Hoping the others will be at least somewhat entertaining.

I find them relaxing, especially in the evenings after work. Though there is a limit & this season’s offerings look to test it. Which is why at least 1 of those 3 will likely wind up in my backlog pile, even though I don’t consider any of them bad. Very much in my try-out phase of the season, likely lasting to the end of April or possibly the season’s mid-point.

My action side of things includes Fire Force season 3 & My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. Watched the 1st ep of Lazarus dubbed, currently on hold while I wait for the subtitled version on the Adult Swim app. Planning to check out Yaiba eventually, but my Netflix is currently on hold. May check out Wind Breaker season 2, but not planning on Go, Go Loser Ranger season 2.

For relaxing i use romantic fantasy. Haha always ends the same but i find it comforting. I dont mind the slice of life genre now and then, but i am just not in touch with the japanese humor.

So no other shows for you this season? No new Black Butler arc? Or 'From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman' ?

Planning to at least check out: I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire, Sword of the Demon Hunter & I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire. Plan to binge Kowloon Generic Romance when it’s over.

Titles I haven’t decided on: Catch me at the Ballpark • Apocalypse Hotel • Once Upon a Witch’s Death • Ninja /Assassin Under One Roof

Titles that have pretty much earned a spot: Apothecary Diaries 2 • Rock is a Lady’s Modesty • Anne Shirley • Cinderella Gray • Gorilla God Girl • Witch Watch

Not counting all the other titles I’ve already mentioned. Typically complete 15-20 per season.

I really like Sword of the Demon Hunter and i think you will too. The Evil lord is a 5/10 for me so far. But i will hang in there.

There some other great animes this season. Let me know if you want recommendations. I am as we speak now started watching The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom. Haha some slow easy guilty pleasure before bedtime.
