Apparently passed @efaardvark 3 ep evaluation

Yeah.  I haven't seen anything past that yet.  I'll have to see how it turns out.  It wouldn't be the first that made it past 3 only to be dropped by 9.  Endings are a big deal for me and can easily be a make or break thing for the season as a whole.

I have to say that nothing has really grabbed my attention this season or last.  Some of it's been entertaining (Aharen-san) but most of it is clearly aimed at younger and / or fantasy-phile audiences while I'm an older SF guy.  Can't remember the last time - what I consider - a good SF was released.  :(

Why the doubt?

For this season I’m currently watching 15 series, have 6 on hold that I might revisit & 2 I at least want to check out. Next season is looking even more packed than this one did. Plus I was hoping to watch more of the Macross  series this year now that they’re finally on Hulu. Plus I’ve been talking about finishing Fate Stay/Night & Unlimited Bladeworks since I joined this forum in 2018 . Can’t honestly see making time for a series that didn’t catch my attention to begin with & has mixed opinion online.

Almost every time I watch a music based anime it makes me want to play some sort of instrument. The problem is that I have no sense of timing or rhythm. I did once try to learn to play the guitar but I could never quite get my fingers round the chords and for some reason I couldn't get my left hand to do the chords at the same time as my right hand strummed the strings.

Watching reign of the seven spellblades for the 2nd time. Love it. For me one of the best 'magic school anime'. Again a low score on CR and MAL.

I keep getting more annoyed by those scores. What scores well is things nerds in the world like and Japanese men. The first like romantic stuff since they cant get any, the second like girl with big breasts (none in Japan), lollipop and unnecessary sexual talk and also some normal slice of life.

I have seen great anime fall into weird romances and the scores go up. So annoying.

I realize this is simply a short blast of subjective frustration, which we're all entitled to indulge in occasionally, but I have to say I don't really agree with the takeaway here. You claim that nerds around the world are boosting the ratings of certain kinds of anime but, why exactly is that a bad thing, and, what exactly is a nerd? You're an IT manager. I would think that to some degree we're all nerds in a way. Also, a lot of Japanese women watch anime as well. Whether or not they're rating the anime on CR as much as the male viewership is I have no idea, but calling out two groups of people like that as deciding all of CR's rating system doesn't seem accurate to me. There are also large breast sizes in Japan, maybe not as many, but no one is out here actually looking like Rangiku and not experiencing some back pain. Manga/anime embellish this because large breasts are appealing, and not just to Japanese men.

Solo Leveling won CR's anime of the year, Frieren got a lot of attention, Demon Slayer, Ninja Kamui, Apothecary Diaries, none of which have anything anywhere near extreme (at least so far) in terms of strong sexual innuendo or busty character designs outside of perhaps certain women in Apothecary Diaries but that's for historical accuracy, and a couple of characters in Demon Slayer. Re:ZERO won best Isekai anime and compared to other Isekai it's quite tame on the sexual front. I think it's more likely that you tend to enjoy anime that doesn't usually resonate with other people, which is all good, but doesn't mean that everyone is just interested in weird stuff.

And to keep this somewhat on topic, I watched the new episodes of Fire Force and Apothecary Diaries last night. Big things happening for both anime right now and I'm really enjoying both.

Right now I am cycling between rewatching Cowboy Bebop, watching Jujutsu Kaisen, watching Vinland Sage and watching I'm The Evil Lord of an Intergalatic Empire!. I usually watch multiple animes at once because I see another I like too rather than binge watching all the way through one at a time.

To Be Hero X taking more of a serious & psychological approach to the superhero concept with an emphasis of how the expectations of society can impact individuals & vice versa. Episode 8 was the beginning of a 3rd arc & one that obviously took place before the previous one. I’m curious to see to what extent it will all tie together (the current season is listed with 24 episodes, so will carry over into the summer). The shifts between animation/art styles can still be jarring but I’m coming to appreciate it more & reminds me somewhat of the Spiderverse movies

It was indeed a blast of frustration, perhaps also ignited by a difficult day at work and private. All though i mean the global thought behind it, i was way to harsh. i apologize. Perhaps this week later i will try to make my point in a more civilized manner

I just watched Alderamin on the Sky. I liked it, all though every episode got darker. To bad there never came a 2nd season

I’m starting to check out Ojamajo Doremi.

I remember seeing ads for the dub “Magical Doremi” on the 4Kids TV website when I was In elementary school as well as ads for the toys from it.

I tried watching it, but I only got through 1 episode

Oh yeah, the other day I tried the first four episodes of that Konosuba(?) anime I’ve seen mentioned around here. Totally couldn’t get into it at all tbh, I don’t think I’ll bother continuing it. Oh well, it was worth a try!

I wasn't trying to grill you either, mind you, I guess I just saw an opening for a debate and went at it.

I tried to watch Alderamin but didn't care for it enough to hang on. Considering it's reviews on CR though, I'm surprised it didn't get a second season.

I'm working my through Frieren and am fairly surprised as to how much I'm enjoying it. It has a nice unfolding story, great use of flashbacks without being obnoxious, and three great supporting characters so far.

Oh i didnt feel grilled. No worries. The next day i read my reply back and noticed it was to agressive and i used words and arguments that were unbecoming of a fan forum. I will go into debate with you some other time.

To bad you didnt stuck with alderamin. The serie gets better with every episode.

Watching The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom now, the last 2 eps released. But somehow i lost my interest in this show. Will finish it though,

Just finished the 1st 3 eps of The Too-Perfect Saint.  Kinda meh.  Not bad, but not great either.  Worth putting it on the watch list at least.
