getintherobot
So, a bit of a deep cut but I just dusted off Mai-Otome yesterday. I watched Mai-Hime forever ago, and it was my first "Cute girls but it's also kinda dark" thing. Didn't exactly blow my 17-year old mind (although that Yuki Kajiura OST sure did), but I've always wanted to get around to Mai-Otome just out of curiosity. There was just something about early 2000's otaku-core shows like these that gets me in a way that its modern counterpart (isekai/reborn as X with a harem) just doesn't. KaiyaSaysHaiya
i've been really getting back into anime/manga recently after hardly watching it for a year or so! it's been a lot of fun Last night I watched all of Yuri!!! On Ice and I really enjoyed it! I've been reading/watching too many depressing things lately, so this made me feel a bit better lol. Watching Yuri skate really made me think about my own art and how I can improve, especially with expressing emotions. I wasn't expecting that sudden burst of inspiration and consideration, but I'm not complaining. The show was very moving to me :] I also finished watching a short South Korean indie anime called The Summer! It was very wholesome and cute, even though the ending was pretty sad. I watched episode two of The Summer Hikaru Died earlier. I also have under ten episodes of Monster left

Animedragon
I finished watching Food For The Soul today. I thought it an interesting series that was fun to watch and I liked the subtle humour. The characters were all interesting people, but none of them really stood out although a couple had interesting personalities. To me it felt a bit like Yuru Camp but without strong leading characters like Rin and Nadeshiko.

How does the original stack up against other 90's supernatural stuff? Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, in particular. I'm trying to decide if it's something that I should check out. Not super interested in the new one. I've seen some bits and, personally, I don't think they did a great job of translating the 90's designs to modern animation. Unlike something like the Yaiba remake which looks great.

I hadn’t watched the original & wound up setting aside the remake after 3 eps. Seems like a monster-of-a-week formula & despite having a demon hand that grants him supernatural powers and being dedicated to protecting his students, the MC acts pretty bumbling most of the time (might be like a Vash from Trigun situation, but not sure). But yeah not impressed with what I saw & doubt I’ll watch anymore. I currently have the Yaiba remake on hold, but intend to resume it once I have a better idea what new shows I ‘ll stick with from this season. As you noted, the animation is top-notch. The humor can be kinda silly, but it’s nostalgic (reminds me of pre-Z Dragonball) & it’s a lot of fun. I also started watching Leviathan on Netflix, not great but still pretty entertaining. Hoping to finish it this weekend.

Wickett
I finished The Promised Neverland. The first season was brilliant, really enjoyed it. I got about 4 episodes into the second season and guessed that the anime had been significantly altered to fit a time frame. I didn't look anything up until I finished it for spoilers sake, and sure enough I got it right. I don't know why adaptions would ever take place if you aren't actually going to adapt it. If the manga is too dark for the audience you want to attract, don't adapt it. Period. In the end I considered it only decent, and would give it a generous 7/10 but only because they got the first season right, and it was thankfully really good. Go figure, because they followed the manga. Watched the first episode of Kaiju No. 8 season 2, very good. Still really liking this anime. Watched the first episode of Dan Da Dan season 2, also really good. Glad the new studios didn't change the art style too terribly much as that was so much of it's charm. Started the classic Cowboy Bebop because I've never actually seen it before, so I'm getting through it on the side.

efaardvark
It's getting close to that point in the season when I do my 3-episode sampling. So far I've put Nyaight of the Living Cat, Solo Camping for 2, Food for the Soul, and Ruri Rocks on my list. Probably others as time permits. Anything else that strikes people as noteworthy this season? Also, I saw that the reincarnated vending machine got another season. Really? I'm not usually one to judge a book by it's cover but .. isekai? Reincarnation? As a vending machine??? I gave the first season a pass but maybe I missed the joke? Should I go back and take a look? SurrealBrain
I am about to say something that would have been downright blasphemous of me to say a decade ago because I wanted to fit in with a "cool crowd" that ultimately didn't give a damn about me. I'm watching Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl. I decided to watch all 191 episodes. And there is one simple reason for this; I love Dawn. And I'm tired of pretending I don't. A decade ago, I was in severe denial of this fact, and I kinda wanna make up for it. That said, it's slow going. At the time I'm posting this, I'm only up to episode 35. My weird schedule means my watching isn't consistent, and I was wondering how to approach it, though I decided to make it a bare minimum of two episodes a week, maybe more if I can fit them in. I also decided to throw the movies into the equation. It's actually pretty good so far. It ain't perfect, heck no, but I am finding myself enjoying it a lot more when I'm not trying to fit in with a crowd that would throw me to the wolves the moment I even slightly deviated from what they said was "acceptable."

Should I go back and take a look I watched a couple episodes of season 1 before setting it aside. Not exactly feeling FOMO Though I actually kinda enjoy some isekai that don’t take themselves all that seriously, notably Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill (looking forward to season 2 in the fall). The only isekai I’m currently watching is Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra which is kinda like Overlord, but more comedic (so far anyway). And 2nd season of Reincarnated as the 7th Prince which is isekai adjacent. Favorites from the current season so far are sequels of Kaiju No. 8 & Dandadan.

Wickett
I started Detectives Are Crazy These Days! the other night as a relaxing and humorous watch and it's been pretty good. For the power level of these guys to make sense there would need to be quirks like in MHA. Plus it’s humor and feelz rarely land for me. Honestly the only part I can say I enjoyed was the episode & a half that focused on Sakamoto & Boiled. When it comes to action I’m already watching Kaiju No. 8 & Dandadan plus still need to check out Gachiakuta & Tougen Anki. And if I get an itch for assassins, I can resume Hotel Inhumans. 3 hours ago, Wickett said: I started Detectives Are Crazy These Days! the other night as a relaxing and humorous watch and it's been pretty good. Wickett
I randomly started watching Dragon Raja a couple nights ago, later realizing that it's based off a video game. I'm two episodes in with the first being about 48 mins long and I'm pleasantly surprised so far. The art suffers from random still shots of ultra realism and odd color choices but I'm assuming that's the Chinese video game adaption flare going on there. The humor is pretty solid too.
