Always take care of yourself first Optic. We will still be here when you have recovered. May the stars shine over you in your darkest days.

I think we are all starting to get just a touch off topic here. Maybe a forum member who is heavily invested in harems or romance should make a new "what is a harem?" thread/survey like I did with Magical Girls to really delve into this properly (without completely derailing @awesomedude20's Recommendation thread). Just a suggestion. @AniMeFReaK ever seen Brighter than the Dawning Blue? It is not what I'd consider the best, but it is enjoyable (and has a slight Space Opera flair towards the end). Sometimes I guess I just enjoy the simple ones I really can't remember if it has a harem in it. I watch Romance probably less than most other genres....

Wow, I'm impressed. That is even farther back than I was considering lol.... Looks like the description though.

Unfortunately, time erodes memories. I've found that many times, people misremember details or even combine two different anime into one. The further in the past, the more imprecise the description. Might still be Nausicaa. Having a more precise idea of what years or how far back we should be considering for this anime would be very helpful actually, @Xandreyn

Join a club. Most universities have some clubs (politics related, hobbies like hiking, astronomy, cycling, etc) and almost all of them are going to be easy to join. Find something you enjoy, go to some club meetings and activities and things will fall in place on their own. Worst scenario, you may just not make any friends until after you leave and get a job somewhere. That's fine too. You're only in college as a means to an end anyways.

Welcome to the forums, Arslanio. Did you by chance get your name from The Heroic Legend of Arslan? I still need to get around to watching that one, myself. Haha, if there was ever an anime fan that didn't have a backlog to watch...I'd love to meet them and find out how they did it...

@theladhimself Anytime Lad. With your Space Opera love stemming from Star Trek and Galactica (I love those too, and the original Star Wars Eps 4-6), I would have to say that Crest of the Stars (followed by Banner of .... I and II) should definitely be your first watch (as far as mature Space Opera goes). Sidonia is definitely more of a Galactica vibe but you have a bit less maturity in the second season (and...overall....it does fall prey to some of anime's more frustrating tropes). That isn't to say that it isn't mature, but comparing Crest of the Stars and Sidonia, Crest of the Stars is always going to be far more mature. Start there and work your way out. And think of Crest of the Stars as an introduction to Banner of the Stars As far as I've been able to tell, I'm probably the only serious Space Opera fan on the forum so...if you ever need any more recommendations or just want to chat Space Opera (even just Space Opera tv shows), hit me up! Keep in mind, maybe around half of the Space Opera genre in anime is subbed only, so I hope you don't mind reading subs from time to time. Of the ones I listed for you before, Norn9 and The Girl Who Leapt Through Space are both subbed only.

Trigun?
-
I could literally go on and on about them (and that is excluding Sasquatch (but including SheepSquatch!) as a topic all of its own). Black Eyed Kids (BEKs), Vampires in the French Quarter of New Orleans, the Jersey Devil, and...literally on forever LOL. I figure, in Europe you have legends and myths of Dragons, Hellhounds, trolls, and Giants even. The stuff we have over on the other side of the water is just as interesting (if some of the stories about them are not as old).

Suggestions for good fight/shonen animes

Hmmmm...... Trigun, Coyote Ragtime Show, Deadman Wonderland... Depending on when you started watching anime and how much breadth you've really seen...maybe one of those? -
Was it bloody? Were there tracks? Did the rooster crowing annoy his next door neighbor's wife and she got up in the middle of the night and poisoned them (happened here...that's a felony folks, at least in these woods it is)? I'm thinking....fox in the henhouse....or pack of coyotes...or a bad neighbor. I'm very iffy on El Chupacabra too for those exact reasons. I'm more inclined to believe in Mothman (especially since the government was so interested in him...possibly he got loose from one of their facilities), the Wendigo (The cold north is ancient...), and the butterfly people (I doubt all those people had the same hallucination doing the same thing) than a mangy dog...that is too much mange and malnourished to recognize as a dog anymore.

Some are definitely fake, others I do not believe that is the case. I think each "show" and each "case" should be approached individually. I personally enjoy watching Haunted Case Files (I think that's the name) where well traveled paranormal investigators recount their most memorable or horrifying cases. It is quite interesting to hear their accounts, especially when they come across an apparition and do not realize it until later in the case. I believe that if a medium is brought in with no previous knowledge of a home, not having any information on why they are there or where they are going, that does increase the chance of it being true. That being said, yes there are some shows out there just to make a buck. Leaning on my Sasquatch shows (I also follow Sasquatch shows and Monster shows though I'm not convinced of El Chupacabra), some of them are very interesting in that they are actually following new cases. Others it is obvious they are just making stuff up (especially when they point to an extremely well known sighting that occurred 10-15 years ago and claim it happened "just last week! He must still be in the area >_>"). Again, with those I take it entirely with a grain of salt and consider each show and each case as an individual point that must be evaluated for inclusion or exclusion of my beliefs. Same is true of paranormal shows and UFO documentaries.

Suggestions for good fight/shonen animes

Well, Gent, how about giving us a list of a good chunk of what you've seen already. I could toss a few up there for you, but I'd likely be wasting my time not having any idea of your anime history. Help us help you better -
They're called blow ups.... I'm pretty sure they exist in Japan for all your anime waifu possibilities... (Haven't looked but I really wouldn't doubt it)

It is a very large room. the first half has a SCUBA nook (for 70% of our gear), my desk, filing cabinet, minifridge, anime cabinets (two giant glass sliding door cabinets) and my bookshelf. Oh, and my trunk. The gaming side is separated by my leather reclining couch (with built in cup holders), with my video games on display, the TV, and the giant window (with double curtains to blackout light if needed). I have a windowsill extension in the window though for the girls and they are always up there, day and night. My gaming/Anime art and statues are placed in various spots around the room. Honestly, the gaming doesn't distract me half as much as clutter does. Keeping the bills and stuff from accumulating on my desk is my constant struggle.

I have had many over the course of my life. Always been a cat person. My father wasn't much of one until he met Tiggs and my husband wasn't one either until he met Tiggs. Tiggs was a special cat, for sure. Never had that problem. If you have a litter box and litter that they like, they will use the box (and essentially no training required). Once Tiggs dropped a load in front of my desk in my gameroom/office ( he sent me a message). I had accidentally bought the wrong kitty litter (didn't see the glade logo on it...bought based on the color of the tub). I guess he wanted his box to smell like crap and not "clean springs". One complete cleaning and litter changeout to his regular stuff and he was happy and going in the box again. Find a litter they like and stick with it.

Well, in the town I grew up in, some people we called by their first names (the preppy type and the going nowhere type) and everyone else we called by their last names (so...basically all us geeks and average joes). I actually think it was easier to just call people by their last name anyways. If you had two Josh's for example (or worse...three), and you called out for Josh, they'd both answer. Last names were just easier for us all. My best friend still calls me by my last name (and I by her last name) and we've known each other 25 or so years now She was the first person I called by last name (and I was probably the same for her LOL). Nowadays, I have another nickname I go by...one that I made up myself to make things easier at work (it also amused my technicians and any humor in that hellish place was a good thing). Not going to post it though just in case one of them happens by. They are a nosey bunch so I wouldn't put it past a few of them to be trying to track me down online. Crazy people. I'm not kidding. I also have found I have a tendancy to nickname my cats. It started with Tiggr (who I called Tiggs and Handsome), then Aida (Sweety), then Zooey (Zo), then Juliet (Fuzzy Butt), then Riptide (Angel), then Guardian (Small Lady). Now Guardian...funny story there. We called her Guardian because although she was the emaciated tiny kitten of the litter we saved, anytime something would scare her sisters, she would jump in front of them while they hid She was essentially their Guardian. Then as she grew up she always carried herself in a very refined and dignified manner, always sitting proper and all...and I just started calling her Small Lady. It would be some months after that before I would realize what I had done! Apparently, I had a Pretty Sailor "Guardian"...Sailor Kitty Moon It was entirely unintentional but whenever I think about it, I always smile.

Bored As HELL!! Recommend me Manga or Anime...

Well, "not a noob", list some of the isekai you have watched already so we aren't spinning our wheels... -
It is a very common theory as well. Humans were actually prey not too far back in the evolutionary history so our survival instincts (aka...innate prey paranoia) kept us living and still kick in today. That is interesting and I have heard of other people having a similar ability (always with friends and family). There are two theories there. Either you have been psychoanalyzing them (whether by intention or not) and are pulling from your internal knowledge of them or you are picking up on vibrational frequencies and their aura. It would be fairly hard to delineate that. It sounds like you have some claircognizance and clairsentience wrapped up in there (which empath and medium abilities would work with). As far as being a medium and possession....being a medium is simply the ability to tune in and listen in to spirits (sometimes on an empath level, other times hearing voices or seeing physical entities). Possession is when you open the door and let them take over (and being under stress from anxiety, illness, and emotional troubles would make you more vulnerable to it). Anyone can be possessed. Not everyone can be a fully developed medium. Your experiences sound very interesting and similar to a friend of mine (though he did open the door himself). It really sounds like you've taken charge of your abilities to an extent. Sometimes it is a negative and othertimes a positive as you say.

I'd be onboard with it truthfully...but I'd want there to be a "Forum Police" Badge with a description like... "Trolls and Spammers flee the scene when XXXXXX arrives..." and you'd get it by accumulating a certain number of reports LOL Maybe have lower tiered versions like "Informant" and higher tiered ones too. I could get behind that. Still, some people have completionist personalities so you could be setting the forum up for a lot of just random posts with no real content behind them. I would also be on board for individual trophies/badges awarded by Optic for various members. Similar to the title function but gifted by Optic and based on the forum member's eccentricities and broadly known quirks. They could be entirely unique. I used to do this in a forum group I started up and moderated on a forum (that sadly is no longer in existence) for the group members. One was a Scientist Salarian for instance.

Welcome to the forums Lad So you are looking for a space opera, huh? Well...maybe I can help you with that! Not having any idea what you've seen already... if you give me a list of what you've seen already I could probably narrow it down better but any who...I really wish you had described this a bit better.... Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars ~ This series would be my ultimate mature Space Opera anime go-to. If you mean Mature as in adult, not childish, more along the lines of sophisticated in that classic Space Opera way. Norn9 ~ This I classify as a Psuedo Space Opera. It is a romance (one of my favorite, the graphics and characters are stellar) that for the most part takes place on a Spaceship (however, that Spaceship never actually leaves the Earth's atmosphere so....), so Psuedo Space Opera it is. It is also mature in a sophisticated way, has a Dere or two in there (nearly impossible to avoid these days) but they aren't really a detractant. Knights of Sidonia ~ This one does a fairly good job of sticking to being mature. I love it, and I wish there were more Space Operas like this one. ------------------------ The Girl Who Leapt Through Space ~ This series on the other hand would be my ultimate other "mature" Space Opera anime go-to. If you meant instead Mature as adult themed, sexual innuendos, etc in a Space Opera setting. Anyways, let me know what you think. I'm not going to expend any more energy there until I have a clear idea of what you've already seen. If you are looking for a tragic anime Kanon is where it is at

That kind of reminds me of pokemon go badges.....

Put some oil (that has a smoke point below what you'll set your oven to) in a spray bottle and just lightly spray both sides before baking. If you have breading on it, it will help hold it together and greatly reduce the amount of oil you have on it (and usually it will be a bit less crispy, more of "fried lite" as opposed to deep fried, pan fried or baked).

We do have trophies and a ranking system. The system will only show you most recent highest trophy on your profile for winning the day. You can click on my profile to see the trophy. Rankings/leaderboard should be on the front page... the system also counts the reactions you get and which ones. I think the winner of the day might be the only trophy I've seen...

It might fall under abusive/flaming language. It might also be the degree of cussing to be considered (every other sentence vs every other word vs once or twice a long post...). Optic makes the final determination there. Is it really so hard to self -censor (via **** or alternative words like "frack")?
