  1. @Sonic Whammy you are an angel! I never thought to look at the Commodore for some reason! I think she might have had Agent USA because the video looked real familiar but after a glance at the top 30 games of the Commodore (and then a deeper look at Robocop), I know I finally found it! I'm going to have to collect the console and game now and bring it with me the next time I visit her. She's going to be blown away! We used to play this game all the time as kids
  2. @Sonic Whammy Haha, looks like you are from a Nintendo family I was too (and Sega. The Sega Genesis I actually saved up my allowance and bought it myself as the first console I ever bought.) until the PS2 era, then I expanded my horizons and did some backtracking. What is crazy about Life Force and the NES is that even after my NES broke (it had two problems. One problem was with the motherboard causing the screen to be completely pixelated and nonfunctional, the other ended up being a fried power supply. I refused to let my parents throw it out and eventually took it to an engineering friend to fix it. Good as new Best condition he'd ever seen one in.) I continued to play the first few levels by sheer memory and music recognition until the power supply messed up. To this day, I find it amazing I was able to do that. You know, my best friend loved Pitfall too. I just never got into it...most of my games came from the few we bought (Mario games mostly) and the ones we rented from the video rental store. Whoa...I'm dating myself there. Definitely, listing by console is the best. I suppose if I included my computer in the list though, I'd have to say Darklands. It is a very very old game and really similar to a D&D type of game. I first played it when I was very young and played it obsessively for years then lost it when the computer got fried in a storm. I bought a version off of steam in the last few years though it doesn't play full screen on my computer (and it isn't compatible with my mouse. So I am very sad that I can only play it in a tiny box and with my keyboard....). Still, if you are interested in that kind of game, you should check it out. I think that it has held its allure even after all of these years. What is really weird is that my best friend had a game console that was neither an Atari or NES or SNES or Sega Genesis and we used to play this....I suppose it was a Secret Agent type of game, where one half of the time you would play as the agent shooting the criminals or maybe platforming through the streets and the other half you were in a helicopter shooting things? Maybe you were on the ground shooting at the helicopter.... My memory fails me! Anyways, neither of us can remember the console or the name of the game (I don't believe it was a mainstream console). What I would do to find it out though. That would be an amazing blast from the past. We used to play it with her doing the on the ground shooting part and me doing the helicopter fights. Teamwork at an early age. I think it had a cartridge format too....maybe.....Ugh...still bugs me over 20 some odd years later. >_> I have a feeling she had this during the SNES era... hmmm....
  3. @Oakmi I've never had time to do that at work! My supervisors are always cracking whips and whatnot. Lucky!
  4. As a huge collector (over 500 games and counting every year), I'd have to break it down by console. Atari.....no favorites there. I think I had one when I was a kid but it's been so long O_O I can't remember. Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).....Blue Marlin, Life Force and Gilligan's Island (great memories with both of those) Sega Genesis.....Ecco the Dolphin Tides of Time (though Earthworm Jim is a close second) Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).....Jurassic Park (great replay value, I didn't get too many of the classics in my childhood) Sega Dreamcast.....Shenmue Nintendo64.....Jet Force Gemini (I actually loved this one and again great replay) and Starfox64 (I spent months playing this) and lastly Harvest Moon 64 (and I still love it to this day) - I actually loved a lot of games on the N64. PlayStation.....Rhapsody (I collected the PSX games late late late in the game. This is probably the only one I finished. Loved it.) Nintendo Gamecube.....Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (the only game that has freaked me out so badly I had to stop playing. It will mess up your mind!) PlayStation 2 (PS2).....uh oh...too many games here. I need to look at my data file. A few favorites.... Kingdom Hearts (all around enjoyable), Wizardry Tale of the Forsaken Land, Okage Shadow King, Rogue Galaxy Xbox.....Dreamfall The Longest Journey (tragic...I love tragedies...not to mention the society was fascinating) and Psyconauts (who couldn't love that game!?) Nintendo DS.....the only handheld I will ever buy...rarely used it but.... Etrian Odyssey (loved it...so much to explore. Had me thinking of Wizardry) Xbox360.....Dark Star One Broken Alliance (loved it! Really hit that space ache), Elder Scrolls Skyrim PlayStation 3 (PS3).....Tales of Graces F (I love me some Tales games) and Atelier Rorona The Alchemists of Arland (This will always be my favorite Atelier game. Who could not love Rorona?) PlayStation 4 (PS4).....Stardew Valley (this reminded me of Harvest Moon 64 and it was perfect! All the Harvest Moon games after 64 were terrible...and lacked that simple nostalgia. Too much focus on graphics and not enough on the farm and relationships...but that's where Stardew Valley shined!) Favorite Multiplatform Game....Beyond Good and Evil (I bought this on the Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox, then as a digital download on psn later. I loved this game. I think if Ubisoft had actually bothered marketing it, it wouldn't have been missed by the masses.)
  5. Hey all, so every now and then, I come across a song that just strikes a chord with me and an anime. Sometimes, it's with a 'ship' (you know, an anime relationship between two characters that I want to happen but might not ever see in the anime) and sometimes it just reflects the anime to me. The latest one that has grabbed me is Yours by Russell Dickerson. To me, I can totally see it as a "ship-song" between Ichinose Tokiya and Haruka in Uta no Prince-sama (my personal favorite pairing ~whimsical sigh~). Anyone else have a song that has reminded them of an anime or ship recently?
  6. I taught myself how to use them as a teenager and have used them to eat Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese foods ever since. I don't remember it being especially difficult. However, due to some work related repetitive injuries to my hands and wrists coupled with a bad disk in my neck, I now have extreme weakness (and oftentimes pain, like today, how I'm typing now is a testament to my desire to not just stare at the tv all day. I refuse to give in without a fight!) in my wrist, hands, arms, and shoulders. While I could still eat with chopsticks fairly easily (if not pain free) now, I imagine in a few more years, my condition will deteriorate to the point that I might have difficulty holding normal utensils, nevermind chopsticks. I totally understand your precidament RSky. I'm practically there myself. I actually tried to squeeze my husband's hand to mush the other day and he just stared at me. Not even mildly uncomfortable. >_> Really sad. For rice dishes, I prefer using the scoop method with my chopsticks. Very fast. For everything else, I don't even think about how I move the chopsticks. It just happens...sort of like how your hands just move on their own when typing out your thoughts or playing a familiar video game. Didn't take long to learn at all.
  7. Check other lots like the graveyard or Criminal Lair. I know my version, can't remember if it is #4 or not, has garlic by the thieves guild....something is out that way anyways.
  8. Welcome to the forums Pierre. I think you'll find lots of people here who love Death Note too. I hope you enjoy hanging out here I'm looking forward to chatting with you!
  9. Well, I for one am glad to see you back again. I hear the acute illness thing. A couple of years ago I had a pneumonia/head cold from working with all those pediatric patients (half of them with whooping cough. Parents would rather their children suffer and die from asphyxiation than vaccinate them these days. Tragic and inhumane.). I halfway think it was whooping cough (I could have been one of those non-responders) it was so bad. Took me three months to recover. I looked like death walking. Anyways, as a Southerner, I suggest chicken soup. The broth cures almost everything (it warms the soul, so even if you aren't cured you still feel better.). I am so sorry to hear about Wendy too. Losing a pet is never easy. When I lost Tiggr, I thought my soul might never mend. It's good though that you have three new additions to the family to help you get through it. Izuku sounds a lot like Riptide in some ways.
  10. Welcome back Vivi! Been wondering how you've been doing.
  11. @RepentantSky tried any yet? Still having trouble or want more suggestions?
  12. Okay, check this list out Here. I basically did a quick search on sci-fi and guns, excluding mecha. Not much out there. Haha, guess me and @Misari think alike!
  13. Naruto... Seven Deadly Sins.... Actually, most mainstream action-based titles I avoid these days. The fact that I picked up and enjoyed AoT was fairly surprising and so I give them extra points for pulling me in (even though the MC is really annoying at times). I find most mainstream anime suffer horribly from lack of creativity, carbon copies of one another with the events in different orders and different names for the characters. I also am not a fan of Evangelion, which I have been led to believe is extremely popular.
  14. Where did you see it? Was it Toonami or Adult Swim? Or is this something you picked up online one day? What country or region are you based out of as well? (Some titles may go to EU but not NA or AU, others stay in JAP, etc)
  15. S cryed? Or Sacred Seven? Those are my best guesses. It kind of feels like you are remembering two different anime. Part of it sounds surprisingly similar to Tekkaman to me.
  16. How about giving us more information. What did the main character look like (hair color, etc)? How long ago were you a child (or maybe a range of dates)? If you give us more info, we might be able to help you more efficiently. Truth be told, I was going to say Ronin Warriors (even though I'm sure they didn't need a gem for their armor) but that's more along the lines of my youth than most people's youth here.
  17. Name a Disney character that would probably hold their own in Dungeons & Dragons That one. Stared at it for about 5 minutes trying to decide if you were asking if the character would hold their own as a player rolling dice and deciding, or hold their own as the character the player plays. For instance, I chose Elsa as I could see her being a frost mage of some power and holding her own inside th game. Not sure however that she has the creativity and imagination however to really be a great D&D player. Name a character famous for carrying a sword. * This one I wasn't sure if you meant video game (like Cloud from FF7) or Anime character. Those were my questioning questions.
  18. Mine is the hammer from hammerspace. It is present across several anime and always welded by righteous maidens punishing a guy for something horrendous.
  19. @Animesta_MidnightLove Haha...yes, they form a club that is designed to basically make money by charging female classmates who want to spend time with them (while they portray classic male style characters in Japanese anime, for example the prince type, the cute kid type, the yaoi twincest type). I can say that it is quite funny (though I didn't appreciate the ending of the manga. Poor Haruhi.) and it is a good reverse harem. Nothing dirty happens in the anime. It is mostly comedy.
  20. @Animesta_MidnightLove. Yeah...Ouran is entirely reverse harem and not a Shojo (whereas Maid Sama is both). What is off putting about Ouran if I might ask? Just curious.
  21. Exactly! Number 2 would have been further down the list had it not been an example of extreme lack of creativity. The grope trope is also the one thing that I believe really gives anime a bad reputation among most people unfamiliar with it. I find most anime with a huge grope focus have abhorrent MCs. They aren't humorous or enjoyable. Just cringe worthy. The "become a whore" trope is just downright bad writing and so messed up. If you can't write that character in a believable manner, it just shows how bad a writer you are. Not to mention how nauseating it is to see it take up the precious screen time per episode... Ah, a reverse harem lover, like me! Yes, reverse harems are more wholesome and base more on plot and character development. Some like Uta no Prince-Sama maybe go a little too far in the harem (up to season 2 was good but season 3 just seemed to stray too far with too many reverse harem characters and not really any development) and others like Amnesia or Diabolik Lovers have some real crazy, creepy guys.... but it's the good ones that make it worthwhile. In general, there are more good ones than bad whereas straight up harems have too many bad ones and not enough good ones.
  22. I think it is actually interpreted as not distributing male genitalia. Female parts are considered art. Go figure....
