  1. Mine would have to be Orange Spice Tea. While I don't drink it as often as I do coffee, its a great pick me up later in the day. Overall, I find hot fruity tea to be my favorite types of tea.
  2. With the 2024 winter anime series ending it's time for the binge watching to start!! First up was A Sign of Affection. I found this to be a wonderfully wholesome Slice of Life series about Yuki, a young girl who had been deaf from birth and lived all her life communicating by sign language and writing messages on her phone, tablet or notebook then into her silent world came Itsuomi, a guy a few years older than her who falls in love with her and takes her out of her little silent world and introduces her to a whole wide world that she didn't know anything about. This series has an excellent storyline and a good cast of believable characters, I especially liked the sensitive way they handled Yuki's character and the way her lack of hearing impacted the way she interacted with the those around her.
  3. Someone from MAL helped me. Perhaps this is useful for other people here: Unfortunately, there is no "magic" tag on MAL (maybe you can try adding fantasy from advanced search, to make it closer to magic category). Copy all the link below for your search: (i made the link for post 2015 action tag with 7+ score) https://myanimelist.net/anime.php?cat=0&q=&type=0&score=7&status=0&p=0&r=0&sm=1&sd=1&sy=2015&em=0&ed=0&ey=0&c[0]=a&c[1]=b&c[2]=c&c[3]=f&genre[0]=1&o=3&w=1
  4. I have not cosplayed anything yet but if I did I think I would try Ulquiorra from Bleach or a character from Fairy Tail such as Zeref or Gray.
  5. So, here's my comments and thoughts about the new series I watched in 2023.

    Insomniacs After School For me this is the best series of the year. An interesting and enjoyable series about a couple of high school students who both decide independently of each other to use their school's abandoned observatory to catch up on the sleep they can't get at night. This leads on to them restarting the school's astronomy club and going out at night to take photographs of the night sky with a lot of help from a former student. I liked the way the relationship between the two main characters developed, although this did mean that the focus shifted more towards their activities with the astronomy club but that I think was a good thing.

    The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. In anime when a series has a title like that you're never quite sure what you're going to get! But in this case the "angel" is just an ordinary girl-next-door who has acquired the nick-name "Angel", which she hates, at school. The story is another Slice of Life romance, but the way the story unfolds with the growing friendship between the two main characters and their relationships with their families and friends along with the excellent artwork and animation are what really lifts this series above the rest.

    Kaina of the Great Snow Sea is a Sci-Fi series with an amazing and imaginative piece of world building. In a world where a small number of people live high up in the canopy of the great trees while the rest live on the surface on islands separated by a sea of snow and are at war with each other a girl from the surface and a boy from the canopy meet and embark on a mission to change the world. The series sort of stops short leaving the story hanging. However, the story continues in the movie which is impressive and action filled with a well paced story that provides a good ending to the series.

    BanG Dream! It's My Go. The latest release from BanG Dream, the huge multi-media franchise about high school girls forming bands and doing concerts. Earlier series featured friends getting together and overcoming difficulties and forming their bands. What sets "It's My Go" apart is that it centres on a group of girls who were members of a band that broke up when one of their members left. Some of them want to form a new band, others want to re-form their old band and others want nothing to do with bands any more. This leads to quite a bit of conflict between the girls  which creates an interesting and engrossing storyline which to my mind lifts the series above the usual "girls form a band" series. What I liked about this series is that the interactions between the main characters is more at the centre of the story than the band, the band side of the story is still there, but much more in the background. The series also has what I think is the best song of 2023 "Haru Hikage" ("Spring Sunlight") the lyrics of which hit home on so many levels.

    The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses. The trailers for this series promised so much, but the series delivered so little! The titular girl who forgot her glasses was an interesting character, but sadly the guy who liked her was a wishy-washy non-entity who had no character development throughout the series. With a stronger male MC there could have been a much better interaction between the two main characters and been quite a decent and interesting series.

    16bit Sensation Another Layer. This one had an intriguing storyline involving time travel, but it wasn't the usual time travel storyline as it had an interesting twist to it. I thought the story started well, but as it progressed more and more complexities were added and towards the end some those were unbelievable which I felt dragged the story down with the result that it tried to pull everything together in a rush in the final episode which resulted in something that had been presented as an important plot point being forgotten. I think that if the events of the final episode had been spread over two episodes the series would have had a much better ending.

    MF Ghost.This is a story about a half English half Japanese guy who arrives in Japan to find his family roots and take part in the MFG street race. As this is a motor-sport themed series the car racing takes up a large percentage of each episode, and it's certainly packed full of dramatic action race scenes. There is a story somewhere in there but it's rather left in the pit lane, hopefully it will become more prominent in series 2. Yes, there will be a series 2 it was announced at the end of the final episode, which ended on a cliffhanger. The only issue I have with the series is the amount of fan-service, the MFG Angels, grid girls, are clad in bikinis and I do wonder just how many close-up shots of their backsides are really needed.

    Shy. From what I'd seen in the trailers I wasn't expecting much from this series. With a main character who is nervous, introverted, lacking in confidence and seriously shy I thought that it didn't really have a lot going for it, but I was wrong. With the aid of her friends our shy heroine's character starts to develop into someone much more capable, although still not quite sure of herself but still able to rise to the occasion and do what is needed. In the series she's referred to as a "Hero", but I think she has all the requirements to be a "Magical Girl", she has a magic item with which to transform into her "Hero" outfit, she has a Special Attack and she even has a mascot creature. However, as the series progresses the visuals and storyline are more along the lines of Madoka Magica than Sailor Moon. Much to my surprise I quite enjoyed watching this series, which has quite decent artwork and animation quality and an intriguing storyline. The final episode ends with a cliffhanger and a second series is apparently coming.

    This post turned out to be a lot longer than I intended, and well done for making it to the end, but I wanted to say more about each series than just "I liked this" or "I didn't like this".

  6. I find more complete details The main character in this anime is a guy who has a younger brother and gets transported into a game-like fantasy world. His in-game avatar has white hair while his real-life appearance has black hair. He gains the ability to reincarnate 100 times, meaning that even if he dies, he can come back to life and retain his memories and skills. As he progresses in the game world, he discovers that any skills he acquires in the game can be used in the real world. This gives him an advantage, allowing him to excel in various areas such as combat, magic, and strategy. One significant event in the story is when the main character kills an angel in the game world, breaking a certain threshold and reaching level 10. This action changes his character progression, and he becomes a reaper, a unique and powerful class. Outside of the game, the main character's real-life circumstances change as well. After one of his reincarnations, he wins the lottery and invests in bitcoin, allowing him to amass wealth and resources. This newfound financial stability provides him with more opportunities to enjoy life and pursue his goals within and outside of the game world. Overall, the anime explores the main character's adventure in the game-like fantasy world, his growth as a player, and the impact of his choices on both the virtual realm and the real world,

  8. there's aa list of things to do if you ever become a vampire I will not, for any reason, learn a musical instrument other than piano, and even that's iffy, because it could lead to my insanity and/or death. If I do learn the piano or harpsicord, I will never once play the Appassionata, no matter who requests it, because that could lead the reader's insanity and/or death. I will not chop up my victims and place their bodies in seperate dumpsters all over town. That kind of violent murder is sure to bring about a visit of said victim's ghost and we all know why that's a bad idea. I will not start a rock band with lyrics bad enough to wake the almost-dead. I will never trust anyone with an awkward name like "Ralgan" or "Memnoch." This person is sure to be the villian. I will wear cool medieval or 18th Century clothing, despite the fact that I was born in the 1980s. Admit it, it looks better than jeans. If I start out as a vampire, I will not tell a long-winded story of how it happened, especially if it closely resembles the stories of others. (How many different ways can you really get a vampire to give you his/her blood?) If I become a vampire during the series, I will not feel guilty about killing my victims. Humans are evil too. They deserve it and they're going to die sometime anyway. I will not go into the theatre business. No acting for me, thanks. I'll stick to webpages and writing. I will not refuse gifts or other things from beautiful men (or women), especially the vampires. I will not work for the Talamasca. I don't trust them, especially that David chap. I won't bother to try and collect the life stories of the vampires. Everyone all ready knows enough about the main characters, and I don't really want to interview Eric. If I am human, I will learn how to use a sword and carry it with me at all times. Humans always seem to get caught up in something and I refuse to be helpless, damnit. Just because I'm a girl does not mean that I will be a nun or other religious fanatic. Unless, of course, I get to be Lestat no Miko (Priestess of Lestat). Then I will comply. I won't become an alcoholic to gain sympathy. If I am a vampire, I will not fall in love with mortals for no apparent reason. I will not make anyone under the age of 19 a vampire. This does not work, ever. I will not be a bar fly. I will have an active life and make myself a main character. I will not be forgotten after one book. If I am made into a vampire, I will not try to trick my mortal family into thinking nothing has changed. I will not get a dog or a bird. I will get a cat. Cats are nice and can take care of themselves. I will not hang out in churches at night and light candles. I will have better, more plot-moving things to be doing all night long. If I am a vampire, I will sleep in a coffin. I don't care if thick window blinds are enough, coffins are more fun and more appropriate. If I am a villian, I will not try to beat Lestat. It's obvious that nothing is going to kill him. I'll go after the ones I don't like, such as David. I will never be a vampire hunter. This is not Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the crappy movie that shares its name with the 3rd Vampire Chronicle. I won't go searching around Europe to find more vampires. I will go to Japan or China, since the plot twists in England, Italy, and France are getting old.
  9. PW actually has a mobile game, forgot about that somewhat, that looks a little more anime-ish. The main game though has things like Chinese lanterns everywhere and Lunar new year decorations and events, stuff like that. It gives off a very China-town kinda vibe in most of the cities and I think it's really pretty. But yeah, you can customize literally every inch of the character from the size of forehead to like, the leg length I usually like playing melee-based character too because I don't like to think I just like to charge in and tank something lmao but I like the pet aspect of veno's.
  10. Although I have been watching anime now for some time, it was only recently as a writer that I decided to experiment with the concept of attempting to create graphical novels or manga. The single biggest fear lurking in the back of my mind is, what if someone copyright trolls me and attempts to deprive me of my IP ( intellectual property ) and perogative of using the characters that I created myself - my brainchild? Recently, I have watched videos about the way that the process works in the States. Is anything ever simple in the whole legal aspect?? Since I am actually trying to appeal to audiences not only in the West but also in Japan, would it perhaps be a better idea to try using the Patent/Trademark Offices of Japan over those of said Western Countries since the system is geared 99% toward destroying up and coming entrepreneurs? I cannot imagine that they could be any more untrustworthy on the other side of that pond. Are there any known examples of people actually doing this? Foreigners ( or "gaijin" ) in the West actually coming to the Japanese to get their ideas copyrighted/trademarked? Below are some videos that made me even more hesitant to try working with the USPTO. I am unfortunately very unworldly about these types of things. Unlike the wealthy 1%, I am an honest person and not a scumbag who does this type of stuff to people. I am actually less worried about whether anyone tries to copycat me in an overtly brazen manner. Opinions and/or insights on this topic are welcome.

      It’s still pretty limited in what you can do & has some bugs, but since I primarily use my phone instead of a desktop, it’s nice to have something integrated into the site itself & hopefully they’ll continue to improve things. I’ve made some attempts to interact on the forums there, but definitely prefer the feel of the community here even though it’s not overly active.

  12. Sounds a lot like My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex. According to MAL that’s from 2022 however so It’s probably not the one you’re looking for. You might want to check it out tho if you can’t find the one you’re looking for as it seems similar. I believe I’ve seen it on Crunchy recently. edit: yep, it’s on crunchy
  13. It was recently announced that for the first time in 25 years, Ash and Pikachu will not be the main characters of the next Pokémon anime. Ash and Pikachu have always been a iconic duo, and the sudden change has left many shocked. Everybody loves the two, so why suddenly change? They are recognisable characters, whether you like Pokémon or not, and are special to so many people. The beloved duo will be replaced with Liko and Roy, who will sport the Paldea region's starters from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. So, what does this mean for the Pokémon community? Will the series drop in popularity or will our new Pokémon trainers succeed to win the hearts of the Pokémon fans worldwide? Only time will tell.
  14. Usually if I make anything its rice bowl of some type. Easier to make on the daily.
  15. Even though I burned out on the Dragonball franchise quite some time ago, there’s no denying the unparalleled influence it had on shonen anime. And am actually curious to check out the upcoming Sand Land anime. As @Otaking66lives mentioned, his distinctive character designs also impacted the video game industry with his work on the Dragon Quest franchise & Chronotrigger (my all-time favorite JRPG). RIP
  16. I used to play a lot of tabletop RPGs, like D&D, though not that ruleset so much as the Fantasy/Hero rules. Also Space Quest (Tyr, not Sierra) and especially Traveller when we were in a SF mood. I also owned pretty much every MicroGame that came out. My favorite there was Ogre. (Plus the sequel/update GEV and the lighter Rivets.) Unfortunately all that pretty much ended after ‘82. I graduated HS and the gaming crowd I played with dispersed into adulthood and went their separate ways. This was well before the ‘Net became generally available - not even email - so that was kind of the end of the tabletop gaming era for me. Personal trivia fact.. my “efaardvark” handle is a holdover from those times. “Bersig” was usually my main character name in fantasy RPGs and “efaardvark” was for the SF ones like SQ. When online gaming became a thing I started using “efaardvark” because it was usually available.
  17. I'll never forget the time I explored both of these iconic destinations. 18. Do you love watching Animes or reading Mangas? Do you love writing and sharing your thoughts about the Animes you’ve seen? If that’s you, then here’s an opportunity to make money and reach millions of people with what you love. Our media company is looking for a creative and humorous Scriptwriter with a passion for anime to join our YouTube content team. Our new channel aims to deliver engaging, funny, and insightful anime recaps by… Providing offbeat summaries of an anime movie or series with a blend of sharp humor Including alternative character dialogues Poking fun at illogical moments, and adding personal commentary that resonates with fellow enthusiasts. Basically, we are looking to do what is done in this video for the anime niche (without the swearing though): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLwZiriLHaI So, if you relish the thought of having the most fun with anime content and showing your comedic flair, this would be perfect for you. REQUIREMENTS: A deep-seated love for anything anime and the anime industry (this is important because it makes the work feel like play to you since Anime is something you already enjoy watching). Ability to write a recap of the anime you watched using a fast-paced, humorous conversational tone, just like it’s done in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLwZiriLHaI). You don’t necessarily have to be the best writer in the world, but you have to be able to have fun while writing this (it’s very important). A good eye for catching logical errors in movies/animations in order to poke fun at them A great sense of humor and a strong understanding of comedic timing, especially in relation to anime recap content. Openness to occasional collaborative meetings via Zoom to sync up with the team and ensure our vision is hilariously captured. THINGS THAT WOULD BE EXPECTED FOR EACH SCRIPT: Watch with a keen eye an anime movie assigned to you and write a funny recap of using a super casual/conversational tone. Infuse alternative character dialogues that could make the script funnier Recognize logical flaws in the movie (most animations always have) and poke fun at those moments in a humorous way. Add personal commentary that resonates with fellow enthusiasts. Add timelines and references to the script to help the video editor know which part of the movie you’re talking about in each paragraph of the script (this will help the video editor know which clip to use in which place) Add direction notes for both the voice-over artist and video editor to help them understand and capture your thought process better. The expected word count for each script would be 2000+ words COMPENSATION: $40-$60 per script Milestone bonuses % of the channel revenue as long as you keep working with us. HOW TO APPLY Please fill this application form and we will reach out ASAP: https://forms.gle/gb6Cqh992B9XpX2u6 We are hiring ASAP, and we can’t wait to have you onboard. Looking forward to talking to you
  19. @Grampos I do not have an answer for you, but I do have a suggestion: Go to MAL To the right-hand side of the page, you will see a "Jump to" followed by a drop down for the 4 seasons and a field for the year. You can use these filters to search all the anime that exists on the MAL database for a respective season and year. I actually went through every season and year on MAL one time to determine what series I have never seen. My area of expertise resides in older animation up until around the year 2000, after that animation is kinda hit miss with me, with more miss than hit Good luck in your journey to find the answer and if you do, let us know.

  22. Hi! I been searching for years, literally years, for a show or movie. When I was very young we used to rent VHS tapes from a local store in my hometown in Sweden. It was usually he-man, thunder cats, dino riders and your typical 80s 90s animated shows. All these tapes had a few trailers in the beginning of other shows and there was this one trailer I just couldn't shake off my mind. A was just a little kid then - in the 90s - and had not been able to find it since. The trailer consisted of this (or the little I can remember): A girl standing on a small piece of "earth", only big enough for her, behind her I think there was a tree and she might have a pet dog or cat beside her. The background is just black space with tiny stars. The scene is very reminiscent of an episode in "The fountain" (2006) in which Hugh Jackmans character floats through space in s kind of "orb" thing. but like I said, it must have come from the 80s or 90s given that all the tapes there were from that period. And I'm pretty sure it's anime or at least very similar to anime. Very detailed and cool That was a style that you remembered being a kid in Sweden and I think the only sort of anime show I watched was Robotech. I've tried numerous searches on the internet, contacted a bunch of anime forums in Sweden, i even asked chat gpt recently but the closest I ever came to something was a show called "Akazukin Chacha" which looked a bit like I remembered my show/movie, but I haven't found the scene that I described. Maybe it is in there somewhere, chat gpt said it was a "theme" of that show; floating islands in space. So if any of you have any information I would very,very much appreciate it!
  23. I know this isn't the forum for this type of thing but for us out here in the southwestern US the region's water situation is getting critical.  That's me so I'm thinking about this a lot.  Full disclosure, I'm in a suburb of Los Angeles here in So. California.  If you're also in the region, or know someone who is, get informed.  Basically, several of  the region's critical civil engineering systems related to water use and distribution are either having or going to have multi-mode failures over the next decade or so.  At this point even a radical change in the weather severe enough to solve the water supply problem would itself create major issues of its own.  We need to get ahead of the problems and come up with a plan to deal with all of them that can be implemented in the time available.

    I'm actually glad to see this video.  The cover/thumbnail image might be a bit click-baity but I think they kept the listed title and the content itself reasonable.  Right now things are still status-quo in most people's minds.  Showers work.  There's water to drink.  You flip the switch and the power still flows to light the lamp or brew the coffee.  For anyone not paying attention nothing would seem to be wrong.  The scariest scenario for me however would be if nobody paid attention until the faucets run dry, then everyone panics without knowing the situation or having a plan.  The people who made this video seem to be normal folks throwing up a flag saying, "hey, something serious is happening here".

    I especially like that they're making the food connection.  Las Vegas golf courses are not really the problem here, though the mindset that says that's a good idea in the middle of the desert (and the politics that allows it) might be part of the reason we got to this point.  Farming is by far the biggest issue.  California farms supply a large fraction of the country's food.  Of the world's in fact.  Those farms also use about 80% of the water in the region.  If you can't grow food because there's no water or can't transport it to the customers because fuel is too expensive then that's a serious problem all by itself, even for people outside of California, Nevada, etc..  The water is also used to generate electricity, and energy is a major input to and driver of any economy.  Expensive energy and low revenues from exports is an economic disaster in the making for the region.  And of course water is also used for drinking and sanitation.  The amount of water used for this last is (relatively) tiny but obviously extremely critical.  I doubt we'll ever run out of drinking water, but it might get extremely expensive, and/or take a while to build out an alternative supply system.  Did I mention you'll be dealing with high energy prices, power problems, and an economy already staggering from the costs of a pandemic, bankster abuse, and political mismanagement while trying to implement your solution?

      @RyePotatoes
      After checking out your MAL I would highly recommend watching the final season of Fruits Basket since you enjoyed the previous 2. The pacing feels kinda strange, but finally delivers on the happy endings. I would also recommend checking out the OVA episodes (14-17) of ReLife. Even though you didn’t rank the tv series well, these are much better IMO as the romance focused on the “grown-up” cast members instead of the highschoolers.

      For some romcoms, I would recommend Don’t Toy with me Miss Nagatoro. The 1st ep can be offputting in s couple ways & a certain level of lewdness is maintained throughout, but it turned out surprisingly sweet. Science Fell in Love & High Score Girl are also recommended.

      Wooooaaaaah thanks @Ohayotaku I’m not really a fan of ReLife though. I think I dropped it too. 🤔 But I’ll follow your recommendations, I’ve actually put Science Fell inlove on my plan to watch list  though. Hihi thank you very much!

      @efaardvark I’ve already added you Efa-kun! Arigato!
