  1. I'm a rather big fan of Mokoto Shinkai, the creator of my all-time favorite movie, Your Name. He has also created Garden of Words, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Crossroad, Someone's Gaze, Voices of a Distant Star, and more. Apparently, he even wrote the script for the series Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day! Well, on July 19th, Shinkai-sensei's newest movie is releasing in Japan, and it will even have showings in North America, Europe, Asia, and South Asia, according to Anime News Network. I can hardly wait, especially as my favorite RADWIMPS, who did the soundtrack for Your Name, is doing the soundtrack for this movie, as well. Anyone else excited?
  2. Drinking a cup of coffee and watching Kanon before getting started on my work for the day. I'm getting further into the series, so it's cool to get more answers to the mysteries going on! Anyone else watching anime this morning?

  3. It's Wednesday, so only two days left until the new Fruits Basket episode!
  4. As this is for The Promised Neverland manga, not the anime, there will be spoilers up to the latest chapters. So, beware if you have not read it or caught up yet. If you are interested in reading the series, you can sign up for Shonen Jump digital at Viz Media for $2 a month. I desperately need people to talk to about The Promised Neverland! I'm showing the anime to my sisters, but as I've read the manga, I know so much more about the series than them. So, this discussion group is a place where we can talk about the newest plot twists as they happen! So, get ready for the spoilers! First off, I'm freaking out about Norman! I was so happy I was crying when they were reunited. But, I knew something was wrong from the beginning, with the way they were displaying him in a god-like manner. I'm really worried about him and the choices he will make. I just hope that Emma and Ray can help him learn again who he used to be. He must have been through so many terrible things during those two and a half years. Seriously, Norman before would never have condoned torture, even to one of the demons.
  5. Those are so cool, thank you for sharing! I'm especially looking forward to listening to the three-hour mix, as I listen to a lot of soundtracks while I work during the day. I think that video will be perfect when I need something calming for my brain. I was showing my sister some of this music, and she now wants to buy a koto. This cover is not a Japanese instrument, but a Chinese one known as the erhu. But, if you, like me, are a fan of Yona of the Dawn, you will recognize it. In Yona, the character Jae-Ha is often seen playing this instrument. It is really beautiful and relaxing. I highly recommend checking out some of the other covers by this artist.
  6. That's hilarious! Did you use a recipe last time you made it? If not, I would highly recommend using one next time, lol. I've never made plain leek soup, but I have made potato leek soup many times, which is quite delicious. I found a couple of recipe options, if you'd like to look them over: https://themom100.com/recipe/silky-leek-soup/ https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/creamy-leek-soup-238442
  7. After watching this new anime about a high school koto club I was interested in listening to some koto music. I find learning about more traditional aspects of Japanese culture that you don't see about in anime frequently fascinating. Well, I found some rather amazing pieces on the koto, including this, which I thought others might love, as well. What about you, are there any musical pieces played on traditional Japanese instruments that you love?
  8. I just finished getting caught up to date on The Promised Neverland chapters, am in the process of catching up on My Hero Academia, finished the latest American released volume of Land of the Lustrous, and am also reading Fruits Basket. There are a couple of others I haven't finished yet, but hope I can get ahold of again soon.
  9. I'm loving Demon Slayer after only the first couple of episodes! The animation, music, characters, plot, all of it. I really like the sibling bond aspect, too.
  10. Along with the amazing My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist, I see you also love A Place Further than the Universe and Yuru Camp! I don't see those mentioned as frequently, but love them!

Thought I'd check out your profile after your help naming the anime from the GIF for me.

    1. Ohayotaku

      Ohayotaku

Both series get quite a bit of love over on CR's forums and along with MHA broke into my all time top 10 which is mainly older series.

Looking over your list UBW and Nozaki-kun are on my Plan to Watch list. I really enjoyed the LWA OVAs and thought the tv series was pretty good too.

Ah, this is the only anime forum I participate in, so I wouldn't know what gets much attention other than on Twitter. I'm so happy to hear that My Hero Academia broke into your top ten! That series means *so* much to me. I really relate to Deku in many ways. In fact, I named my cat after him. :P  But, him and I share the same personality, and since I am disabled I understand his struggle of being quirkless and different from everyone else. Plus, All Might, the most powerful superhero, is himself disabled! I love it so much.

I totally recommend watching those sometime soon, they are amazing. I just updated my profile since I hadn't in probably a year, so I added a few new favorites to the end of my list. I haven't seen most of the anime on your list, I think largely because I tend to watch newer anime (as I get distracted by new shiny things) and it takes me a while to get to older anime. But, I did finally watch Konosuba a few months ago.

  11. Oh, thank you so much! That does look like it must be the same anime. I will have to watch that, the description sounds great. Having depression myself, I love some morbid humor on the subject.
  12. There are truly so many, but ultimately, I would want to be in Fiore and a member of the Fairy Tail guild hall. Because really, having best friends as guildmates, using magic, and going on adventures, what could be better?
  13. I'm loving the reboot! I didn't watch the original series until last year, but since then I've watched it over and over whenever I need something sweet and cheerful to watch. I'm also currently reading the manga, and I'm loving how the new reboot is portraying the series. I feel like it is an improvement upon the first, which will become more apparent, I believe, as the series goes on. For instance, stuff happens in the manga during the Valentine's Day episode, but the original anime never showed it. Plus, if you've seen the original anime, you will know there is a lot of backstory that they never got to reveal. I can't wait to find out what all is going on!
  14. When Deku is told he too can become a hero. When Hinata faces off against Pain. When Mitsuha and Taki meet at Katawaredoki.
  15. At the moment I'm rewatching Lost Song. One of my sisters and I are introducing it to my (slightly) older sister. She just got to a big plot twist and is super into it now. I've also watched some Kanon and Cinderella Nine, and rewatched both some My Hero Academia (season one) and Naruto: The Last today.
  16. I found an anime GIF that's hilarious and perfectly describes my life. But, I've never seen this anime and am not sure what it's from. Does anyone else recognize it?
  17. Hello, everyone!

I've missed hanging out. I haven't gotten on in a long time, as I was busy starting up my freelance writing business, managing my poor health, dealing with mental health and loss, and keeping up with long-distance friendships. However, my business is now off the ground and I am once again lacking in friends, so I have more time to hang out and chat. I look forward to catching up with my friends on here and making new friends.

I love to chat with people about anime, but now that my best friends are no longer around, there are few people I can talk about it with. My sisters are into anime but are unable to watch it must themselves, leaving me little chance to rave about the newest and greatest anime.

Just wanted to update you guys. I will be back online this evening to reply to messages and browse the form.

I am doing well. Have not really gotten anywhere in getting work freelance, and hit a wall, due to my situation that causes catch 22s to come up, but I have been able to find things to do otherwise.

Plus, I have been talking with people over Discord.

@SAO LILDOOP, long time no see! I'm so happy to be back, and look forward to being able to chat more! Thank you!

  18. Good news and bad news, but good news first.

    1. My sinus infection is improving! My immune system just couldn't fight it off this time, but thankfully the doctor was able to step in and help. Planning on getting my immune system checked out soon so we can get an explanation on why I keep coming down with infection and virus one after another.

    2. I finally got a freelance writing gig! I've wanted to become a freelance writer for a while, but I'm always so sick that it's hard to get the time to break into the field. Now that I've broken into the field it shouldn't be quite so hard.

    Now for the sad news...

For the past month our cat Pooka (technically my sister's cat) was sick with an upper respiratory infection. He wasn't getting over it so we took him to the vet and got some tests done and antibiotics. He still wasn't getting over it so we took him back a week later, and at that point they found he had feline leukemia virus. He refused to eat on his own halfway through June and we were having to force a food gel, water, and medicine down him with a syringe daily. He started looking better at the end of last week, his congestion was improving and he could breathe easier. But, apparently his body was still too weak to fight off the FeLV and other infections. He passed away early Monday morning. We are all mourning, but my sister is especially crushed. He was her darling little orange cinnamon roll.
Here's a picture of him before and after he got sick. (it's my younger sister with him in the picture)

Kind of sad about the pet, but congrats on getting the writing gig. I have been looking to get into freelancing, but things are not looking good for me.

I've been away for a while but the fact that you've been just as inactive for months is probably a good sign that you've been keeping busy and are doing stuff with your life so godspeed to you.

  19. I always wish the steam sale took place just a month later, so that way it would take place after I have birthday money. But then again, it probably wouldn't change anything since I want to expand on my anime DVD/Blu-Ray collection.
  20. I've been too sick to read, my sinus infection had been causing a lot of pain including in my eyes, but thankfully after 3 weeks of it not going anywhere I went to the doctor today! I think between the shots and prescriptions I'll start improving soon. I'm looking forward to it, since I've been too sick to even watch anime, all I've been able to squeeze in the past couple weeks has been My Hero Academia. And obviously, I've not been able to be very social, either.

  21. Loving your current avatar!

  22. Lol! @Optic, is there any rule whether cussing is okay or not?
  23. I love Japanese food, because so much of it is filled with flavor! But, I do enjoy the lighter dishes too. For instance, yesterday I made yudofu, which was so cozy and it melted in my mouth! I used to eat ramen daily, I preferred the Maruchan instant ramen in bowls, my favorite being the Spicy Chicken Miso ramen. SO delicious. One of my favorite desserts to bake is the Japanese strawberry shortcake, the Just One Cookbook blog has my preferred recipe. Mochi is a favorite to buy, last year for my birthday I got some ube mochi, which was amazing! My mom will also get me mochi when she goes to Whole Foods. She actually got me some last night! It had chocolate, strawberry, and who anko mochi!
  24. I'm going to try dipping my toes back into the forum. If I'm a little slow to reply to messages it's just because I can't handle too much social interaction all at once, but I will get back to you ASAP! Thank you all for the support during this hard time, it really does mean a lot and help.
